This past Saturday the Fort Lauderdale Strikers flew up to Minnesota to play the first leg of the
NASL Div2 Championship versus the NSC Minnesota Stars.
Unfortunetly the Strikers lost 3-1. It was a heart breaker to see the team play timidly compared to
their past few playoff games. Was it the cold weather up North?
The Fort Lauderdale Strikers remarkable run through the 2011 NASL playoffs continues following a
1-0 victory over the Puerto Rico Islanders before 4,233 fans Saturday at Lockhart Stadium. The
scoring hero was again Brian Shriver as he converted his 10th and 11th goals of the season,
totaling five goals in the playoffs.
What a great night at Lockhart Stadium this Saturday when the Strikers defeated FC Edmonton 5-0
thanks to a hat trick by Abe Thompson and a brace by Brian Shriver. The team played inspired
football and gave South Florida a true show that we hope we can see again next week as the playoffs
continue.
The Strikers will face the Puerto Rico Islanders this coming Saturday in the first of 2 games to
determine who advances to the NASL Finals.
South Florida Soccer fans need to get out to Lockhart Stadium this Saturday October 1, 2011 for the
Fort Lauderdale Strikers playoff game versus FC Edmonton. Game starts at 7:30 pm and tickets are
now available at www.strikers.com. You can also get them game day at the box office. Come out and
support the Strikers as they make their NASL Championship run!
It's the last regular home game of the season for the Fort Lauderdale Strikers. They've already
clinched the playoffs but could secure a home playoff game and possibly 3rd place in the next 2
games. If the Strikers win this Saturday they secure the home game. But the following Saturday the
last game of the season will be against rival Tampa.
Shavar Thomas and Jamaica closed out another international break with a loss in Fort Lauderdale,
Florida. Jamaica fell to Colombia 2-0 thanks to two second half goals. Thomas started and went 90
minutes as captain for the Jamaican side in the loss at Lockhart Stadium. The Jamaica's are waiting
for the current round of CONCACAF qualifying to finish up before they enter in the next group phase
along with the USA and Mexico, where they are grouped with the US.
All eight NASL teams were in action Saturday night. The two Florida franchises had big nights,
as the Fort Lauderdale Strikers pinned a rare loss on the Carolina RailHawks at Lockhart Stadium
while FC Tampa Bay won 4-0 in Atlanta over the Silverbacks. Saturday's other two matches were also
won by the visiting team, as the NSC Minnesota Stars hung another loss on the Montreal Impact at
Saputo Stadium and the Puerto Rico Islanders rebounded from their CONCACAF Champions League
elimination by eking out a 1-0 victory in Edmonton.

what can be done to save Lockhart Stadium.
Recent reports came from the Sun Sentinel stating that the FAA wants all stadium revenue generated
by the school system and the Strikers going to the airport.
This past Saturday the Sun Sentinel reported in it's printed version that the Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) was threatening to shut down Lockhart Stadium and the adjacent Fort Lauderdale
Stadium if all stadium revenue generated by the school system (which plays High School Football
games) and the Strikers don't go to the airport.
The Fort Lauderdale Strikers announced there will be a double header this Saturday as Lockhart
Stadium. Starting at 5 pm. Palm Beach United and the Jacksonville-based Florida Sol of the Women's
Premier Soccer League (WPSL) will be playing prior to the Strikers versus the Puerto Rico Islanders

It was a sunny Wednesday afternoon in Ft. Lauderdale Florida when the New York Redbulls played
against the Chicago Fire. Everyone who is anyone in the soccer world was there, but due to
mis-communication between the Red Bulls front office and Lockhart personnel, some of them had just
a little trouble getting in the door.
