Arsene Wenger has made it clear that he is strongly opposed to loan deals such as Emmanuel
Adebayor's spell with Tottenham Hotspur.
Adebayor has been in fine form this season, scoring nine goals in 19 games for the Spurs after
parent club Manchester City chose to loan him out at the beginning of the season.
Fresh from the news, Chelsea's manager Andre Villas-Boas proposed that the English League adopts
the system which uses Premier League Reserve Teams in lower divisions.
It is widely known, that this system is widely used in Spain and Germany, and has benefited the
young talents of Spain to progress faster and more efficiently to professional football.
Lille President Michael Seydoux made clear earlier in week that the Ligue 1 club is interested in
signing Joe Cole on a permanent basis. The former Chelsea midfielder has been in great form of late
and a move would definitely make sense, but according to Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish, nothing
is happening re a potential transfer at the moment.
Yesterday, during the l-o-n-g wait for the announcement of the MLS teams' protected lists, I
tweeted that I expected the Philadelphia Union to protect the following players: Faryd Mondragon,
Danny Califf, Carlos Valdes, Sheanon Williams, Gabriel Farfan, Sebastien LeToux, Brian Carroll,
Roger Torres, Danny Mwanga, Michael Farfan, and Freddy Adu.
On what one must consider the plus side, we're a sixth of the way through.
Delighted that this topic has been suggested by one of Twitter's good guys @zerozero31
Seb's suggestion was: Willie McKay is onto a good thing. SPL clubs should be used as short-stay
shop-windows for talented players.
Last week, Twitter was abound with rumor that Swansea City were interested in taking Josh
McEachran on loan come January. Today, the inside sources were proven correct. Swansea manager
Brendan Rodgers confirmed Thursday that the Premier League new boys are hot for Josh, and are
likely to make an active move for him in the new year.
Liverpool have a number of players out on loan at the moment, and in a new interview with the
official site, Kenny Dalglish outlined the positives of the loan system, and provided some timely
updates on the club's loanees. Dalglish was keen to stress that he keeps a close watch on the all
the club's loan players:"We keep monitoring them.
*The MLS trade deadline is 2 p.m. tomorrow, so clubs looking at adding to their roster for the
final run-in to the season (we're looking at you Chivas USA) had better pull the trigger quick.
From the MLS press release:
All player signings, trades, and transactions must be completed as of 5:00

Protest seems to be the words on the lips of two sets of fans in the Premier League this week as
they have grown tired of their club's plight.
Everton and Blackburn supporters are not known for their militancy, in fact protest goes against
Blackburn's sleepy Lancashire town image. Evertonians meanwhile usually see protests as
‘something Liverpool fans do'.
It's no secret that Everton have been relatively inactive in the transfer market this summer –
and also that this inactivity was not necessarily through choice. It has been revealed by Toffees
chairman Bill Kenwright that their hands are tied by the financial constraints of operating in
post-recession Britain – and there have been more unsettling words to have come from the man in
charge of the Goodison Park purse-strings:
"We've come to a stage with our bank where we just can't borrow any more.

Rumors had been flying since Friday evening's Stars win against Montreal that Minnesota were
looking to bolster their roster with another player. Speculation was that it would most likely be
someone who could help in the midfield and would probably be a loan player from a Major League
Soccer team.

Sir Alex Ferguson is never content to rest on his laurels, no matter how much success comes the
way of the Scot and the players under his control at Old Trafford. So, it won't come as too much of
a surprise to fans of the club that the wily United manager is planning on bringing a few fresh
faces in over the summer as the Red Devils seek to guard against the predicted rise of the blue
side of Manchester.
Having successful loan players playing for a team always brought the club's wishes in securing a
permanent deal for those players by the end of season so they can start the summer in a much more
consistent fashion. This method is pretty much what also on Sunderland's management mind or at
least their manager, Steve Bruce's plan as the tactician is planning to secure some of the
temporary based players that they are having at the moment.
I forgot one of our out on-loan players when I made my weekly (?) report yesterday. I'm very sorry,
Matt Hill! Your team Barnsley played against Hull away and you were among the starting eleven and I
should have noticed that, I agree. I'll put in a picture of you with a Barnsley shirt as [...]
At least a couple of our out on-loan players has played yesterday or today, so let's have a look as
usual. The Championship: Greg Halford is still suspended and watched the match against Forest away
from the stands. Portsmouth lost it by two goals against one. Andy Keogh didn't get any precious
playing time either, [.
Three names that we were "linked" with have all fallen through. And probably for the best.
Roque Santa Cruz:
In total, Santa Cruz started eight games, with another 16 substitute appearances. The Paraguay
international has earned around £6m in wages. (via guardian)
City have hardened their stance on the issue of wages for loan players since agreeing to
subsidise Craig Bellamy's move to Cardiff earlier this season and Blackburn will pay the majority
of Santa Cruz's salary.
