Real Madrid 4 Athletic Bilbao 1
Welcome to La Liga Lunes! As you may know, Mourinho's formidable Los
Blancos defeated Bilbao 4-1 last night, despite Llorente's opening goal in the 13th minute.
Unfortunately, the Portuguese was also at the receiving end of jeers from the Madridista
crowd, who were allegedly annoyed that he wasn't able to pin down Barcelona
earlier in the week.
22.01.2012 - Con goles de
Marcelo (´24),
Cristiano Ronaldo (´47 + ´67
penales) y
Callejón (´86), Real Madrid venció (4-1) al Athletic de Bilbao
(
Valencia midfielder Ever Banega has agreed to stay in La Liga by signing a contract that will
keep him at the Spanish outfit till 2015.
Banega, 23, has attracted the interest of both Merseyside clubs in the past while also being
linked to Arsenal and German giants Bayern Munich more recently.
15.01.2012 - Con goles de
Fernando Amorebieta (´11),
Fernando LLorente
(´40) y

One of the Spanish cities we hope to visit soon is Bilbao, for their fantastic
architecture, sights and obviously, the Semana Grande (which happens every August and is
one big fieeeesta!) The Athletic Bilbao team unveiled their "official
suits" in a ceremony at the city's famous Guggenheim museum yesterday, which is an outfit
consisting of a charcoal-gray suit spun delicately from Merino wool, a white poplin cotton shirt,
silk tie with black stripes in red and grey, a pearl belt and shoes with rubber soles made of black
leather.

From a home perspective, the good news seems to be that Vicente Del Bosque is going to give some
of his 'second string' a run out against England at Wembley on Saturday afternoon. The depressingly
bad news being that most of said second string would probably, nay definitely, meander straight
into Fabio Capello's first XI.

The verdict is out... UN GRAN SÍ!! More La Liga matches should kick
off at noon (sudden death to your Saturday night hangovers) simply because the natural lighting at
the stadiums are amazing. Madrid looked like they were playing out their FIFA 12
characters in real time at the Bernabeu yesterday.

racha invicta a 9 partidos.
You gotta agree with us when we say that 'In the Air' photos of footballers
trying to score from headers or deflect a ball are brilliant! Fernando Llorente
looks like he's raving up there in mid-air, but maybe he was just trying to secure all 3 points for
Bilbao against Valencia in their 1-1 draw last night.
Sevilla President José María del Nido says that the La Primera clubs had a ‘heated debate'
on Monday at a meeting convened by Atlético Madrid and Valencia to address the distribution of
television money and the organisation of Spanish football.
Attending the meeting on Monday in Madrid were Manuel Llorente (Valencia), Fernando Roig
(Villarreal), José María del Nido (Sevilla), Josu Urrutia (Athletic Bilbao), Francisco Pernía
(Racing Santander), Agapito Iglesias (Real Zaragoza) and Raúl Martín Presa (Rayo Vallecano).

It's Monday... which means it's time for La Liga Lunes! The sad news, of course, comes
from the Barca camp where they have announced their new Chilean signing,
Alexis Sanchez, will be sidelined for two months. He suffered a torn hamstring in
his right leg which is the most common injury among runners.
So the Seleção scraped past Ghana in a 1-0 victory last night,
which is fair enough, especially since winning hasn't been their forte as of late! Within ten
minutes of the first half, Ganso who suffered a thigh injury had to be replaced by
Elias.
Old hat it may be for everyone else, but here at AANP Towers we bounce around the walls like
toddlers on a strict diet of fizzy drinks and E-numbers as we await the start of our Premiership
season. Still, rather than pacing the corridors, rubbing hands together in feverish anticipation
until tomorrow night, it occurred to me that the time is rather ripe for making public the various
musings that have echoed around the walls of AANP Towers all summer.
Valencia CF c. 2011-12 have inspired me to jump back on my soap box and preach to the
masses.
And why not? I'm giddy with excitement for the season to start this weekend!
That is, if it starts. The players union may strike. The season may be delayed. We may have to
wait to see Our Beloved Valencia CF trot out to defend the colors of the Valencian Community.

el controvertido centrocampista argentino del

Valencia President Slams Door on Mata Speculation
Valencia president Manuel Llorente has recently put to bed any notions that Juan Mata may leave
the club after the Spaniard insisted that the player is ‘not for sale at any price'. Liverpool
were among the suitors vying for the player's signature, but will now have to look elsewhere after
the latest admission.
Valencia have said they will sell midfielder Juan Mata this summer.
Mata has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Valencia coach Unai Emery recently said the club
may sell the player to help ease their debts.
However, Mata himself has said he wants to stay at Valencia and now president Manuel Llorente
has dealt a further blow to Arsenal's aspirations of signing the player.
Mata yet to attract offer
Valencia president Manuel Llorente claims the club have received no approaches for Juan
Mata.

Ladies and Gents I have returned to the world, and I'm sure it is clear that I have had a lot of
catching up to do. I will do my best summarise the current and recent news of Valencia. Apologies
for any repetition or old news. So...
Are we clever with our transfers, or do we splash cash and suffer financially
later?

Liverpool has been outbid by Manchester City for Juan Mata, according to reports.
The Spanish midfielder, who plays predominantly on the left flank, has been coveted by a number of
clubs across Europe, with Reds boss Kenny Dalglish thought to be keen on bringing the 23-year-old
to England.
However, Manchester City have joined the race for the player, and The People claims Roberto Mancini
has tabled a £22 million offer for the player.
Back to the action, after a tortuous week. Kate Middleton is forgotten, it was a nice wedding
but I never understood the hype anyway. Go to a Greek wedding, then you'll have some fun.

4-0 down at half-time. Won the second half 3-2.
As feared, we were mauled in defence.
Tottenham Hotspur fans have had the privilege to witness some truly outstanding football in the
2010/2011 season. The outstanding talents of Bale, Modric, and Van der Vaart now grace the Spurs
line up, terrorising the opposition with their skill and ability, as opposed to the days of average
players like Postiga, (Michael) Brown, and Ghaly.
Valencia will do everything in their power to keep hold of Juan Mata this summer as Liverpool and
Manchester City reportedly chase the winger.
Having been forced to cash-in on David Villa and David Silva last summer, Los Che are reluctant to
lose another of their star turns when the transfer window reopens, despite reports in Spain
suggesting Mata is gathering interest from England.

I think I would have preferred if we lost this match.
Not only because it would have been fairer on our opponents, but because a win conceals the fact
that we had a pretty crap match against an inferior rival.
Spain coach Vicente del Bosque has named his 21-man squad for next Wednesday's friendly with
Colombia in Madrid. He has also warned every player to be prepared to play the full 90 minutes,
despite a request from Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho not to overload the players.
Del Bosque told reporters:
"We care for everyone in whatever we can, but we will demand the maximum.
Like students remembering about their coursework, Prem clubs left everything to the last minute

Liverpool were short on time and in the money with Torres' impending move, hence the swollen fee
for Andy Carroll. Any regulars to these reports (there probably aren't any) will know how much I
love Carroll, but even I baulked.

Mourinho was finally granted his wish after several debates within the Real Madrid organization,
but did "The Special One" receive the player he really desired; a striker who's barely played and
scored goals this season? Prior to this agreement, the likes of Van Nistelrooy, Tevez and Llorente
were linked with a January transfer to the Bernabeu.
