What an abject object lesson in how not to handle a mess....liverpool fc have been a disaster area
for weeks. Dalglish's obstinate refusal to acknowledge any wrong by his player has plunge that club
deeper and deeper into ignominy.
It finally come to a head on Saturday when a player who'd previously been racially abused by
Suarez tried to put in all behind them by offering a handshake and still Suarez tried to play the
wounded, wronged party and refused.
Liverpool might end up in fourth position and wrap up a League Cup, perhaps even an FA Cup
trophy too. At the season's end, however, the most poignant event, the most significant, will still
be the Luis Suarez debacle. This club, Liverpool, of the John Barnes era, which stood up against
continued racism (during the days when bananas were thrown at the England winger, and star
Liverpool player, John Barnes from the terraces) has now sided with a player found guilty of racist
incitement by a tribunal.
The cat who invaded the pitch during Liverpool and Tottenham's 0-0 draw has become an overnight
internet sensation apparently Its name is Tabby, seemingly homeless, loves football, does not
suffer from stage fright and could do with a warm, hot dinner as well as a place to stay on
Merseyside. So what exactly was the [.
Fernando Torres at his best, was an absolute terror. Just ask Nemanja Vidic. Or even the whole
Manchester United team for that matter. There is no fluke that El Nino became the fastest Liverpool
player to reach the 50-goal mark. His searing speed, excellent touch and great dribbling skills
made him a Kop hero as soon as he arrived at Anfield.

"Would it be a risk to play defensively?" the reporter asked Kenny Dalglish as Liverpool
prepared to face Manchester City at Anfield in the second leg of the League Cup semi-finals.
Reports doing the rounds suggest that Liverpool are in the market looking to buy a striker to
bloster their attack. The Reds have been linked with Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe who Liverpool
manager Kenny Dalglish is willing to offer £10 million to acquire.
However a tug of war is emerging between Tottenham and Defoe with Redknapp set on keeping him at
White Hart Lane while Defoe is bent on leaving after already telling his agent that he wants to
move in this transfer window.
By the standards used to judge recent red-carded tackles like Vincent Kompany's against
Manchester United and Jay Spearing's against Fulham, on Wednesday night Glen Johnson at the very
least put himself in a position where seeing red was a very real possibility. Maybe even the most
likely possibility.
Ahead of a proposed loan move, former Liverpool player Robbie Keane has been training with Aston
Villa over the last few days, and according to Villa boss Alex McLeish, the Republic of Ireland

dumped by former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez, but McLeish believes the 31 year old can do a good

support of the Uruguayan is damaging their reputation.

After the wild final day of the January window and a finish to the season that was reason enough
for optimism, all eyes turned toward the summer. Even with the relatively disappointing end to the
campaign, Liverpool looked to have the opportunity to strengthen a squad that seemed just a few
pieces away from truly challenging the league leaders on a consistent basis.

It's a little-known fact that Peter Beardsley, Gary Ablett, Nick Barmby and Abel Xavier all have
the same middle name – Traitor. The quartet are the most recent players to have made that journey
no man should ever make – across Stanley Park (especially at night).
Having watched "Moneyball" this week, it got me thinking about the state of this year's Premier
League and the perpetual losers in the modern age: Liverpool. Liverpool are hurtling towards a
longer wait for the title than United's quarter of a century and their saviour is not the one they
were looking for.
Maxi Rodriguez could be set for a landmark 50th league appearance for Liverpool if he is selected

By Alan Duffy
It may well be the season to be jolly, but after reading a list of Tweets highlighted by
TalkSport presenter Stan Collymore, it's hard to keep in a positive frame of mind.
The former Liverpool player has been receiving a large amount of abuse for his views on the Luis
Suarez racism affair, which he has been re-Tweeting along with racist abuse by various morons aimed
at Patrice Evra.
Squad sheets: Liverpool v Blackburn Rovers
Never before has this fixture been so much about the individuals involved. On one side there is
Luis Suárez, playing at Anfield for the first time since receiving an eight-match ban from the
Football Association, while on the other stands Steve Kean, the beleaguered Blackburn manager who
arrives on Merseyside with his team in last place and their fans calling ever louder for him to be
sacked.
As has been the case here on the Liverpool Offside from the day this debacle kicked off over two
months ago, we firmly believe that racism has no place in sport any more than it does in the wider
world, and should Suarez be proven to have racially abused Patrice Evra on October the 15th we
would be forced to regretfully accept the resulting punishment as justified.
Former Liverpool player Mark Lawrenson is often criticised by fans for his outspoken views on the
club, and when asked about Liverpool's top 4 chances a earlier today, the European Cup winning
defender was in typically honest form.Speaking on Football Focus, Lawrenson argued:"To make the top
4: City, obviously; United, Tottenham, and I'm going with Chelsea.

Luis Suárez and Liverpool charged by FA over Fulham incidents
• Uruguayan striker charged for alleged obscene gesture • Club charged over players
surrounding referee The Football Association has charged Luis Suárez with improper conduct and
Liverpool with "failing to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion" for two
incidents that occurred in the 1-0 defeat at Fulham on Monday evening.
Aston Villa captain Stiliyan Petrov would swap his current situation with any Liverpool player in
order to fulfil his dream of playing for the Reds.
The 32-year-old began his career in his native Bulgaria with CSKA Sofia before being granted a move
to Celtic in the summer of 1999.
It was not until 2006 that Petrov finally realized his ambition of playing in the Barclays Premier
League, when he move to Villa Park for £6.
Liverpool legend Steve Nicol has expressed his disappointment with the result at Fulham last night,
and he also revealed his surprise at one of Kenny Dalglish's key personnel decisions.
Speaking on ESPN, Nicol - who won a bucketload of trophies as Liverpool player, including 4 league
championship titles - noted:
"Disappointing is not the word; it's frustrating.
Liverpool head to Fulham on Monday knowing a win would equal a club record of away successes.
In all competitions it is six victories in succession away from home - a win at Craven Cottage will
equal the club record of seven set between December 1981 - February 1982 and again in January -

Liverpool show a packed midfield is how to beat Manchester City | David
Pleat
Kenny Dalglish's five men in the middle of the park worked hard to snuff out the threat of
City's main threat, David Silva Manchester City started brightly, with the Champions League defeat
to Napoli last week a distant memory but Liverpool were powerful opponents, who slowly wrestled
control with a thoroughly organised, hard‑running and skilful performance.
As a Liverpool player, club legend Steve Nicol was rarely on the losing side against Chelsea. Last
week, he tipped his old club to beat the Blues 2-1 at Stamford Bridge, and as we saw, Nicol was
proved right. After the game, the Scot described Liverpool's victory as 'absolutely perfect', but
still felt that his old manager Kenny Dalglish made one small mistake during the game.
When we're not cleaning Oreos out of our couches or populating the blogosphere with nonsense,
we're stalking Nemanja and Ana Vidic.
Fresh off his international retirement announcement, Nemanja Vidic will have more time on his
hands. To do what besides oil his hot robot self?
Well, change his soon-to-be-third-baby's diapers, perhaps.
You don't need chalkboards to tell you that Liverpool changed tact in the second half against
Chelsea, unable or unwilling to keep pressing in the same furious manner as the first. This isn't
revelatory information, and I tried to explain why in the match review: pressing for 90 minutes was
an impossibility due to fitness and personnel, so Liverpool went all out for the early goal, then
tried to soak up pressure and hit Chelsea on the counter in the later stages.
When Joe Cole arrived at Anfield, he was heralded by many as the apparent missing link in
Liverpool's formation. According to Roy Hodgson, senior players like Steven Gerrard and Jamie
Carragher had endorsed the signing, and were excited about what Cole could bring to the team. Alas,
it just didn't work out for the former Chelsea player, and looking back now, Cole - who is now at
Lille - has regrets about making the decision to come to Anfield.
Dirk Kuyt draws Ashley Cole inside to cover for John Terry. Glen Johnson's run from deep catches
Florent Malouda unaware. And Liverpool recover from a long stretch where they were outplayed by
Chelsea to win for the second time in a row at Stamford Bridge under Kenny Dalglish. For some,
Johnson's composure in the box and skilful, left-footed finish might seem one more reason to deploy
the attacking fullback higher up the pitch.

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Gus Poyet has come out in support of his fellow countryman Luis
Suarez over the FA's deision to charge the Liverpool player for alleged remarks made to Patrice
Evra.
Not only has Poyet said he believes Suarez (who has reiterated his innocence), but he has gone
so far as labelling Evra a 'cry baby' over the incident which occurd at Anfield last month.
