MirrorFootball Podcast: Listen again to Robbie Savage's MirrorFootball live chat with
Steve Anglesey
He became known as football's Mr. Marmite during his days as a professional footballer, then he
swapped his boots for a microphone to become one of the game's most outspoken and honest pundits
before wowing the crowds in Strictly Come Dancing.
Congrats to the Los Angeles Galaxy for claiming MLS Cup glory last night.
What I particularly like about Sunday's soggy outcome is this: For now, at least, we can put
away a lot of arguments about how Major League Soccer works. As I said in our SI.com live chat last
night:
LA Galaxy was the best team in Major League Soccer wire to wire.

While all of your baseball loving friends are watching the Phillies take on St. Louis in the
NLDS, join the Philly Soccer Page for a live chat as the Philadelphia Union take on Chivas USA in
their quest to make the MLS Playoffs on Sunday, October 2. The chat starts at 7:45pm for the 8pm
kickoff. The game is on The Comcast Network.
A spokesperson for the Philadelphia Union has told the PSP that Sheanon Williams is clear from
his injury from concussion but that his status for Thursday's game against DC United at PPL Park is
still questionable.
Williams suffered a concussion in the win against Columbus Crew on September 17 and was unable
to play against Sporting Kansas City on September 23.

Today, during a live chat with ESPNDesportes.com Mauro Rosales indicated that he and the Seattle
Sounders are close to an agreement on an extension. It is important to note that the following
quote came via Google Translate and is therefore without the nuance that a live translator may
offer.

Real Salt Lake v Philadelphia Union
When PSP runs our live commentary during away matches, we get lots of interesting comments
and questions from readers. We take those comments and try to put together a list of questions that
get to the heart of what Union fans want to know about the team.
The Question: Is it time to bid adieu to the diamond midfield, or are the Union's
problems with shape and possession a personnel instead of a tactical issue?

The Fort Lauderdale Strikers were able to steal a point from Montreal this weekend and keeper Matt
Glaeser gets another clean sheet.
"Today our guys earned a hard fought point in a tough environment," said head coach
Daryl Shore. "We felt like it should have been 3 but overall we are satisfied with the
result.
The Chicago Fire Premier team defeated the Iowa Menace 1-0 last night in the 1st Round of the
U.S. Open Cup. Chris Estridge provided the heroics when he went on a long run in the 87th minute
and scored an unassisted goal. The only way to follow the game was through the Twitter accounts of
the Des Moines Menace (little explanation on Des Moines Menace vs.
The Fire will need a win tonight to avoid missing the knock out stages of US Open Cup play for
the first time ever in franchise history. This game, along with the previous win against Colorado
are considered "play in" games and not part of the tournament proper.
San Jose manager Frank Yallop says he's going for the win with his best line up.
Exit to Eternal Summer Slacking
My apologies for the crazy week between me being on holiday and the troubles with Blogger, this
wasn't our finest week as bloggers. My hope is that you had your BD team more or less set heading
into this weekend's matches. In any event, I'm back in the US wondering why the weather here is
significantly less pleasant than it was in our various stops around the UK - it is still supposed

I can't overstate how busy I truly am, so here's just a few points about tomorrow's friendly
against Australia. The match will kick off in Mönchengladbach at 2:45 PM EST (8:45 PM CET). The
match will be available for streaming live on ESPN3 and on a delay on ESPN Deportes at 4:45 PM
(Spain's EQ takes precedence).
The Philadelphia Union open PPL Park, in Chester, PA, for the first time in the 2011 MLS season
versus the Vancouver Whitecaps today. Like the Union, the Whitecaps won their opening game of the
season. Behind two goals from Eric Hassli, the Whitecaps beat lowly Toronto FC 4-2. In Texas, the
Union took down the Houston Dynamo, a preseason dark horse for the playoffs by many, 1-0 , behind a
goal from Danny Califf.
