It's a far cry from Jurong West Stadium but Gabriel Obatola showed his worth on his debut for
Portland Timberwolves when he scored the only goal of the game against Seattle Sounders in a pre
season friendly. In front of nealry 19,000 fans.
Just think, had not Singapore authorities got smarmy and rejected his employment pass he would
still be in the SLeague and looking forward to pulling on a Lions shirt next year.

Although, this wasn't an "A" international but this was probably the last time we see Indra wearing
the armband (vs Oman Selection in Dec 2009)
I'm not sure how many of you out there react to the retirement of Lions' erstwhile skipper Indra
Sahdan Daud from international football.
Some of the feedback I gathered from the grapevine were disbelief and surprise (not shocking
though), while contrastingly, for those who are long enough in the local scene would not be too
much a surprise of the SAFFC's striker decision to quit the national team.

The Singapore FA are hoping to send the national team to Europe in August. No dates have been
firmed yet and no opponents either.
With little on the international calender this year, apart from some kick around in South Africa,
this would be a good opportunity for the Lions to prepare for the 2010 ASEAN Cup in December.

Still Singapore resonates to the sound of dirty washing being displayed. Hallelujah and praise be
to the media who do love this kind of tripe.
Some old pro who now works in gas shows he knows a thing or two about his product when he compared
today's Lions to back in his day when, get this, players would play computer games and smoke after
lights and even, heavens to Betsy, 'some didn't even sleep at all'.

FIRST HALF SHORT SCRIBEUnfortunate to have conceded an early goal to the Jordanians, but except for some usual scary
moments, the boys hold themselves well against their hosts in front of a hostile crowds.
The already depleted Lions suffered another early blow when skipper Noh Rahman was replaced by
Rosman Sulaiman due to an injury.

The Merseyside derby continues to bring out the worst in people, but for Liverpool this was
ultimately a joyous encounter. The hosts had to play the majority of this tetchy and at times
violent game a man down after defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos was sent off for a two-footed lunge on
Marouane Fellaini, but that made victory over their local rivals even sweeter, and even more
significant.

This is a pretty amazing story to keep following. The Dayton Dutch Lions FC signed veteran Dutch
player Hans van de Haar and you can read more about it by clicking here. This team though is a USL
PDL club and they keep signing veteran Dutch players. They should be a lot of fun to watch this
season. Maybe they'll bring over Marco Van Basten to coach them!

Forgive my tardiness, I had personal matters to tend to... but yes, 1860 Munich forward Kenny
Cooper is set to go on loan with Championship survivalists Plymouth, a club source confirmed to
NSC. The deal should be done by tomorrow.I'm not exactly sure I understand the need to go on loan
for playing time, seeing as how the goal-shy Lions were probably desperate to get him back from the
injury

If Roger Espinoza is going to make the Honduran World Cup team, it appears he'll be doing it in a
Wizards uniform. Apparently after their game against the United States, Honduran coach, Reinaldo
Rueda that Espinoza was looking to secure a loan move to a team in the Honduran league to help
improve his chances of being selected.

That seems to be what coach Le Guen thinks of the Africa Cup of Nations (ACN). There is a
disconnect between Le Guen on the one side, and the Cameroon Football Federation, the fans, some
players and the staff on the other. Le Guen's main objective is the World Cup while the Federation
has set winning the ACN and reaching the World Cup semi-finals.

Today's Top Skor is reporting Persija are close to signing a new striker. Technical Director Benny

My feeling is that the Kemayoran Lions are targeting a big front man in much the same manner they
did last season when they recruited Fabio Lopes but the question is who?

I came to realize the recent comment by the MM does actually makes sense.

Lions' Asian Cup Qualifier fixture against Iran.

As the players walk out on to the pitch at Old Trafford, music is blasted out of the tannoy
which is reminiscent of something out of Gladiator. You almost expect lions to come racing out of
the tunnel after the players!
There have been mutters of complaint about this for sometime, as it prevents the chanting from
starting, as any sound from the crowd is totally drowned out by the deafening music.

Oman shown their true colour on the New Year's Eve, by walloped Singapore 4-1 at the Bishan Stadium
in the final game of this two-game friendly series.
As what coach Raddy said after the match, he cannot think of anything positive out of this game as
the visitors had clearly outsmarted, outclassed and outwitted their hosts with some swift movement
and dominating of possession plays.

We learned earlier this morning about Portland's stadium upgrades that will soon be coming but
what about their MLS expansion mates Vancouver? Well turns out they probably won't be playing in BC
Place right away in 2011 but instead will be in a temporary venue.
Instead they will (along with CFL side BC Lions) play at Empire Field's temporary stadium as
seen above.

So check this sh*t out. From the looks of things the renovations of B.C. Place won't be completed
in time for the kick off of the 2011 MLS season so the 'Caps (along with CFL side B.C. Lions) will
pitch a tent, so to speak, on the grounds of the old Empire Stadium in the form of the $20m
temporary stadium you see above.

And that was just the impact on the fans. The lowest crowd (5,800) ever for the Roar - the second

down.
The game never really rose above park football. It was back to season one for the Roar.
There are only 3 home games left this year.

Okay, here's my take. What do you think of it all?
Group A South Africa, France, Uruguay, Mexico
I've been procrastinating over email about possible World Cup draws lately, and one of my
theories was that South Africa would get fed to the lions as a "see, we're not crooks" gesture from
FIFA*.

of things: stomach aches from eating too much, trips up and down the Garden State Parkway, and
sports lots of it from college football to the NFL to college basketball to maybe a little NHL.
This year has been no different.

A lot has changed in the world since the FA Cup, the oldest football competition in the world,
began in 1871. But the magic of the tournament still remains. The prospect of non-league minnows
upsetting giants. And the nostalgia of seeing matches played in front of standing-room only crowds
in the heart of the English countryside.

Local reports suggest Indonesia could host Singapore in a friendly some time in December. The match
would be a warm up before both teams play Asian Cup qualifiers early January.
The friendly, they met earlier this month in Singapore and the Lions won 3-1, makes sense with both
leagues entering a hibernation period of a few weeks and anyway half the Singapore team are in
Indonesia anyway.

SHORT SCRIBE OF THE GAME
The first thing you noticed at the ground was the heavy security at the stadium.
Given the stakes were high and big crowds were expected that the organizers had decided to
segregate both groups of fans from one and other.

drummed up the atmospher (Why are we the passive lot?
