The Philadelphia Union are working on solidifying their 2012 friendly schedule by talking to Newcastle United about playing in Philadelphia during the summer, according to a report.

"I Wish I Was A Geordie," an American Newcastle blog, is reporting that Newcastle and the Union are discussing the two clubs playing an international friendly this year.

PPL Park could soon show itself off to the North American soccer community, as the Philadelphia Union's game day home is one of two finalists for the 2012 MLS All Star Game. A league source informs the Brotherly Game that PPL Park and Sporting Kansas City's Livestrong Park are the last of a group of stadiums, which included the Vancouver Whitecaps' BC Place and the Montreal Impact's Saputo Stadium, but "nothing [is] firm" yet.

The Philadelphia Union will welcome the Colorado Rapids to Chester, PA to open PPL Park for the 2012 MLS regular season, a great deviation from what many people have been speculating about the season's schedule on Facebook and Twitter.

A source with knowledge of the Union's 2012 regular season schedule tells the Brotherly Game that the Union will host the Rapids on March 18, which will be Philadelphia's 2012 MLS First Kick home game.

Zach Pfeffer is no longer all alone as the only Philadelphia Union Home Grown Player. The 16-year-old midfielder now has fellow former academy star Jimmy McLaughlin as a teammate on the Union's first team roster.

McLaughlin started all 22 games possible at Colgate in 2011, including the University's 4-1 loss to Rutgers in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

The Philadelphia Union will play their first home game of the 2012 MLS season on March 18, according to a list of home openers released by MLS earlier today.

For a third straight season, the Union will begin the season by heading on the road to face an opponent, though which team that will be has yet to be announced.

With the MLS transfer window set to close on Friday, 22-year-old playmaking midfielder Freddy Adu is set to join the Union, according to multiple sources.

The demonstrative enthusiasm Jurgen Klinsmann brings to US Soccer was palpable last night from my seat in the second row behind the United States bench at Lincoln Financial Field. The U.S. men's national team begin the Jurgen Klinsmann era tonight with a friendly against arch-rival Mexico at Lincoln Financial Field (9pm, ESPN2).

Remember back to last season when last minute negotiations twice averted a strike by Serie A players? Well it turns out that the players never ratified the new collective bargaining agreement, so they are threatening to do it all over again.

U.S. Soccer President Sunil Gulati named Jürgen Klinsmann as head coach of the U.S. Men's National Team today, making him the 35th coach in the history of the program.

"We are excited to have Jürgen as the head coach of our Men's National Team," said Gulati. "He is a highly accomplished player and coach with the experience and knowledge to advance the program.

US Soccer President Sunil Gulati just announced that Jurgen Klinsmann as the new head coach of the US Men's National soccer team. Klinsmann is the 35th coach in the program's history.

An official press conference will be held Monday, August 1 in New York City. Klinsmann will be at the helm when the USMNT exacts revenge on Mexico August 10 at Lincoln Financial Field.
