As we all know, Harry Redknapp has not even thought about becoming England manager. Given that the
possibility of him doing just that is on all major news bulletins, OTP wondered what exactly he is
thinking about. 1. Business investments 'Arry's still not got round to investing that money that
Milan Mandaric gave him to [.
After having been reducing to a flapping and floundering wreck in the Anfield penalty area,
David De Gea is likely to have spent much of Sunday in a darkened room shaking at the prospect of
being confronted with any of the further tall, muscle bound players the Premier League has to
offer. But a twisted ankle suffered by Anders Lindegaard means that Sir Alex Ferguson is likely to
be left with no option but to force the young Spaniard to confront his demons in his sides clash
with Stoke the evening.
Easily the best footballing side in the Championship last season, it's hardly a
surprise that Swansea have been attracting a lot of positive attention due to their performances in
the Premier League. Thomas Rooney thinks a couple of Swans should be given a chance in the England
squad and if the widely predicted changes happen after Euro 2012, Thomas has a
point!
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has announced that former Gunners legend Thierry Henry has
re-joined the club on a two month loan deal from MLS side New York Red Bulls.
It comes as no surprise in football circles that the Frenchman has returned to his spiritual
home, having been training with the London club during the MLS off-season, but will this move make
or break the Gunners stuttering season?

For some time, Texas has been considered untouchable for Republicans. Major elections have been
owned by them. Texas has voted Republican for President, Governor and Senators for years.
But, Rick Perry is pushing hard to give Democrats a chance in these next elections by acting like a
person confounded by his beliefs, tongue-twisted with his verbal skills and unaware of the impact
of his actions.

Not a sight you thought you'd ever see, eh? Indeed, Garry Flitcroft's professional career ended
in March 2006, four months before Twitter was publicly released.
The reason for the blonde-haired midfielder's return to the limelight is the Leveson media ethic
Inquiry, with Flitcroft giving evidence.
Mike Ashley is an enigma. The squash-coach-turned-billionaire shuns the limelight to such an extent
that he was once dubbed "Britain's answer to the late Howard Hughes," which makes his purchase of
Newcastle United all the more unfathomable. Why would a ... Continue reading →
Guus Hiddink is unemployed. He likes Chelsea, a lot.
So, is a return to London in some capacity other than manager represent good business for the
club and Roman Abramovich? Yes and no.
London calling?
Hiddink resigned his managerial post this week following a turbulent near two-year spell in
charge of the Turkish national team.
Nothing breaks the heart like a candle whose flame is blown out by the wind. Noted actor Joey
Lawrence's career burned with promise and brimmed with energy. From the very first episode of the
late 90′s TV show Blossom, audiences fell in love his "whoa" and looked forward to decades of
avant grade artistry.

Despite everything Soccernomics preaches, Turkey's path to becoming a footballing
superpower has hit yet another bump in the road. The nation failed to qualify for EURO 2012, and
via the transitive property this means Guus Hiddink's time is up as manager.
Veteran's Day should not be looked at as a day for marketing sports, but it became that yesterday
for college basketball.
The 'Carrier Classic' looks like it may be the signal for the start of every NCAA College
basketball season from now on.
Tasty We saw this live during Soccer Saturday and now the gang at Pies have tracked down the videos
for us to share with you. This Portsmouth fan found himself in the limelight during Paul Walsh's
reports from Fratton Park... and he couldn't resist capitalising on his 15 minutes of fame. In the
video above [.

Soccer Saturday is already crammed full of over-acting buffoons (see "Merse" and his screeches
when the ball goes anywhere near the goal in his particular game). However, while Paul Walsh was
reporting on Pompey's game with Nottingham Forest at the weekend, a fan made the most of his moment
in the limelight.
Irfan Bachdim burst on the Indonesian football scene some 12 months back but unfortunately it
wasn't only his football people were talking about. His supposed boyish good looks, done nothing
for me, had teenage girls swooning in ways Budi Sudarsono and Jendri Pitoy could only dream about.
Bachdim, and his model girlfriend, moved from the sports pages to the front pages as the celebrity
world discovered him and, momentarily at least, made the national team cooler than a polar bear in
Raybans.
Nothing much to play for in MLS.
Meanwhile, the EPL is starting to rev up.
Along with the Wayne Rooney Bowl, the Manchester City Derby complete with Tevezgate, this year's
absence of Paul Scholes, Man City atop the table, something guaranteed to go with Mario Balotelli
in the limelight and likely David Silva cementing his spot in the EPL Season's Best XI for a time
to come.

In this rescheduled fixture, the Cheetahs took the lead through Vitor Borges in the first half

The duo who grab the limelight
It another win for Arsenal as we progressed through to the next round of the Carling Cup at the
expense of plucky Shrewsbury Town. It was only our second win of the season and frankly, we'll just
have to take that. There was a mixture of first team back ups and youngsters on display in the game
yesterday.
Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 Liverpool. Yes, that's four, nil.
Isn't it great that all the limelight is surrounding the Manchester clubs and Arsenal? We can get
on with our business of chalking up the wins. That's two wins on the bounce, but more importantly,
two clean sheets.
Modric is looking like he's rekindled his interest, whilst Adebayor is simply superb.
Sir Alex Ferguson believes Sunday's opponents Chelsea are currently enjoying being out of the
title limelight which has been dominated by two Manchester clubs so far this season.
Transfer deadline day deals: The view from the Championship is a post from: Just Football
WHILE the lavish spending of the Premier League's big boys captured most of the limelight on
transfer deadline day, there was also plenty of business done in the second tier. James McMath
looks at some eye-catching signings made by Championship clubs.
"This is a club with a history in European competition and people throughout the world—at
least our supporters—yearn for European nights. That's our first goal." —John Henry
Since arriving at Liverpool, John Henry and the rest of the Fenway Sports Group team have hardly
put a foot wrong, immersing themselves in the club's history, bringing back a legend and giving him
the support he needed to turn things around, and showing a willingness to invest in the playing
staff in a way that hasn't been seen at the club in the Premier League era.
Cutting through the exotic monikers of Premier League imports The new woman on the Chelsea bench

Liverpool will visit Brighton in the third round of the Carling Cup.
The Reds will travel to the Amex for the clash with the Seagulls in the week commencing September

Kenny Dalglish's side set up the tie following a 3-1 win at Exeter City in the previous round.
The last time the two sides faced each other in the competition was at the same stage back in
October 1985.
Kenny Dalglish revealed Raul Meireles faces a spell on the sidelines after he damaged his shoulder
during the 3-1 Carling Cup win over Exeter.
The Portugal international lasted just 23 minutes before an awkward tumble saw Andy Carroll
introduced as a replacement. Carroll scored one of the Reds' three goals, but Meireles faces an
uncertain spell in the treatment room.
NBC debuted a catchy 10-second promo including flashes of Donovan, jubilant crowds, Beckham, Soccer

Spoiler alert: Exactly what's going to happen in the 2011-12 Championship season is a post from:
Just Football
The Football League season's eight-day head start on the Premier League provides a rare chance
for clubs in the second tier and below to bask in the limelight.
The national media will respond to the nation's collective anticipation of the new season by
lavishing attention on the Championship, League One and League Two for a weekend, before their
heads are quickly turned back to the big boys.

Charlie Adam ready to step into limelight after Steven Gerrard injury
• Summer signing aims to take his chance for Liverpool • "Competition for places will be
good for the club" Liverpool's hopes of making a strong start in their effort to regain a Champions
League place next season have been set back after Steven Gerrard was ruled out until September due
to an infection related to his groin injury.
Alex Livesey/Getty Images (Bleacher Report) Lionel Messi has stolen the Champion's League spotlight
this year as he leads the competition with 11 goals as Pep Guardiola's Barcelona team heads into
the final against Manchester United and Sir Alex Ferguson.
Messi's two goals against archrival Real Madrid in the first leg of their eventual triumph were
what allowed the Blaugrana to advance, and he will be keen to continue his success this year and
hopefully help his side raise the Champions League Trophy once more.
They signed him in Winter transfer window... back in 2009.
Yup him, the little, frustrating, Russian winger who would prefer to play the central free role
behind the main striker. With Ryo and Gervinho set to slug it out with Theo to claim the Wingman
spots, and with Cesc and Nasri both doing one before the transfer window closes, Arshavin may
finally get his chance to claim the role he covets so much.
Last season, Liverpool's u18 side was a revelation, the club's revitalised academy forcing its
way back into the limelight after a decade in the wilderness. Much of that was down to a new
generation of young stars, the likes of Suso, Raheem Sterling, Conor Coady, and Jack Robinson, all
of whom remain eligible for u18 play this season but all of whom are expected to make the leap full
time to the reserves—not to mention the NextGen Series and the occasional first team
match—along with coach Rodolfo Borrell.
By now, we all know how the Women's World Cup played out. Despite theheartbreaking outcome, the
USWNT hasn't had much time to feel down about their loss to Japan on penalty kicks.
It's been 12 years since the US was in a Women's World Cup final and this American team showed
such class, pride and respect that they captured the hearts of a nation.
Abby Wombach scored in the dying moments. It was almost as though a script was written to bring
women's soccer and the U.S. Women's National Team back into the limelight. If there was such a
script, then the team played out there roles perfectly.
It was in dramatic fashion that the United States took the lead in the second minute of the match,
only to find themselves down a player and two goals into the last minute of the second overtime.
There is no player that shadows the recent fortunes of Arsenal more than Gael Clichy.
When he was thrust into the limelight in the wake of Ashley Cole's departure to Chelsea, we were
full of hope. We didn't miss Cole and also had a fine center-back in William Gallas at that point
it looked like we got the best of that deal.
And some quick thoughts as we roll into our Spain and Gold Cup coverage:
Adu: A lifeline to chasing the dream...again.
• A small, abstract positive if Freddy Adu has a positive Gold Cup? Perhaps a little bit more
showcasing for Adu to move to a better team more in the limelight or against better
competition.

"I am not a man of many words, but I can honestly say that playing football is all I have ever
wanted to do" - departing words from one of football's understated legends. Another member of
United's class of ‘92 announced his retirement today, lowering the curtain on an illustrious
career with tons of trophies, but sparing individual honors.
In the last 15 to 20 years the best central midfielder that I have seen — the most complete
— is Scholes. I have spoken with Xabi Alonso about this many times. Scholes is a spectacular
player who has everything. He can play the final pass, he can score, he is strong, he never gets
knocked off the ball and he doesn't give possession away.
