I know that we always say that no transfer rumour can really be fully believed until Arsenal make an official announcement, I am stopping short of saying that the Gunners have completed the first signing in what we hope to be a busy summer transfer window, but Yaya Sanogo has said himself that he is coming to Arsenal, and he should know.
Transfer periods at the Emirates are always interesting times. Probably there is no club that gets linked with as many players each season as Arsenal. This window, as per usual, a lot of names have been linked with Arsenal. It appears Arsenal have been on Stevan Jovetic's case for some time but have been put off by Fiorentina's asking price.
The first time I saw Gervinho play was in the 2010 world cup for the Ivory Coast. Every time he had the ball, the crowd would go wild because of his amazing ability to get past any man who stood in his way. He has fast footwork like we see from Cristiano Ronaldo and he could actually score goals.

Arsenal will be signing at least one defender this summer, that much is clear. With Squillachi's contract due to end and Johan Djourou hoping for a permanent move to Hannover where he is currently on loan, Arsenal have just three centre backs. Even if you think they are good enough, that leaves the Gunners one short in the squad, but most Gooners would agree that Arsene Wenger needs to sign a central defender who will improve the starting line up, not just be cover.
The January transfer window is always a disappointment for Arsenal fans. We start the month confident that we will strengthen in key areas to help us either build on our strong position, or to help us recover our season.
A week in and still no signings, we accept that it's hard to sign top quality players in January and it's a slow process.

Six teams have a chance to make it through to the last 16 of the Champions League with three slots still up for grabs.
With the final round of group games taking place this week, 13 of the 16 positions for the first knock out round have already been filled with Chelsea, Juventus, Benfica, Celtic, Galatasaray and FC Cluj competing for the final three places.
Arsenal have released their accounts which are looking pretty good, showing that Arsene Wenger should have a decent war chest to spend in January. Another interesting thing apparent from the figures is the news that the club have given up any hope of ever selling the South Korean international striker, Park Chu-Young.
Olivier Giroud and Gervinho are obviously very different types of players, aith Gervinho's game based around speed and fancy footwork. Even when he plays as a striker, he tends to cover a lot of ground and picks up the ball in wide positions to come running at the defence. Giroud is more of a traditional central striker with good upper body strength who takes up good positions in and around the box.

Liverpool look set to bolster their defense this summer, with Brendan Rodgers keen to add depth to the back-line. The manager is rumored to be interested in signing Real Madrid's Raul Albiol, as well as Lille's Lucas Digne, and the deals may be imminent.
According to Sky Sports, current Lille player and ex-Chelsea man Salomon Kalou has announced both Liverpool and West Ham are in search of his signature this January. Last summer, Kalou made his exit from Stamford Bridge to French side Lille on a free transfer and it seems as if he misses Premier League football.
Sky Sports understands Liverpool are ready to listen to offers for midfielder Joe Cole before the
close of the transfer window.
Cole is back at Anfield after spending last season on loan at Lille and expressed his determination
to impress new manager Brendan Rodgers earlier this summer.
However, injuries have impacted upon the 30-year-old's prospects after he was forced off midway

On Sunday, Ligue 1 leaders PSG are set to do battle with 10th-placed Lille. PSG have won five of their past six matches in all competitions and will be looking to pick up the full three points at the Parc des Princes. Lille have lost their past two matches and have endured an underwhelming campaign to date, so taking even one point from this fixture would be seen as a positive for the side.

We are not talking about a female pig here Arsenal fans. Moussa Sow is a Senegalese international striker currently playing for the Turkish club Fenerbahce. So the media reports that Arsene Wenger may have made a bid of around £17 million for him have certainly come as a surprise.
