Lightning, it appears, does strike twice. Two years to the day after Fabio Capello stripped John
Terry of the England captaincy, the FA through its chairman, David Bernstein, made the same
decision in far more controversial and emotive circumstances...

This is from the website of the Arena Soccer League's Louisville Lightning, with whom Houston
Dynamo first round pick Colin Rolfe has been training since the end of the NCAA season. It's nice
to see this from Rolfe, simply because there are many people in this market who have never even
heard of the guy, even though his college accomplishments at Louisville are impressive to say the
least.

Mall of America Field (Metrodome) Eastview 2-0 Minneapolis South The second Boys 2A semifinal
of the day looked to be a good one on paper. The Eastview Lightning (20-0-1) and who were the #1
seed in the tournament took on the #4 seeded Minneapolis Southwest Lakers (15-4-1). The match
stated out brightly for Eastview.
In a game that had to be replayed after lightning brought a halt to events on Wednesday night,
Dallas got the win on Thursday. Jack Stewart scored the game's only goal in the 45th minute with
Kevin Hartman picking up the shutout. Dallas had failed to convert on an earlier penalty. Toronto's
Richard Eckersley was sent off in stoppage time.
Lemme tell ya. This Carlos Bocanegra to Rangers move happened fast. And I mean lightning round
fast. This is a strange hour for Scots to close a deal and it makes me think they think they can
get 'Los registered before Thursday's Europa League trip to Maribor (fellow Wednesday mover
Alejandro Bedoya is not available for selection, by the way).
The Swope Park Rangers, Sporting KC's reserve side, moved their record in the reserve league this
year to 2-2-2 with a 1-0 win over the Colorado Rapids today at the Swope Park training complex. An
early goal by Soony Saad was the lone tally in the game. Both teams had some good chances, in a
game that was delayed for a period of time due to lightning.
Have you always dreamed of working for a professional soccer franchise? With the rise in popularity
of professional indoor soccer and the addition of new franchises to the MISL for the upcoming
2011-2012 season you may be able to finally get your foot in the door with an internship or maybe
even a job.
So remember that whole "We had a keeper and 4 starting defenders who were struck by lightning, so
that's why we lost to the US"? Turns out, that after a random post game drug test, FIFA turned up
positive steriods use results on two players and then subjected the rest of the team to testing, as
they quickly left the country to return home.
Last night Peter Vermes selected a squad well capable of defeating the Richmond Kickers and
advancing in the US Open Cup. The team's starting back line for the past few games was starting,
the midfield had 3 players that have all gotten plenty of first team minutes in league play, and
the forward line had 2 players that have represented their national team.

Football kits aren't exactly our favourite thing in the world, Kickettes. They obfuscate bodies.
As you know, anything that prevents us from enjoying our daily flesh fix makes us stabby, which is
why we tend to avoid kit reviews like we do cheap shoes.
Liverpool will offer Alberto Aquilani as bait to tempt Totttenham into selling Aaron Lennon.
The Reds are keen to add to their wide options this summer in a bid to bring the best out of £35m
striker Andy Carroll. Lennon has emerged as their number one target in this area with his
phenomenal pace offering the mouth-watering prospect of lightning counter attacks in combination
with crowd favourite Luis Suarez.
Sweden looks a little less dominating, but they take double the shots despite North Korea playing a
more controlled possession game. Apparently, Kim Jong Il's telepathy is in more control and the
effects of the lightning on the North Korean players is cured as Sweden comes out 1-0 winners.
Dahlqvist is the lone scorer.
Bolt from the blue The coach of North Korea's women's football team says the team lost their
opening World Cup match against the USA because their players were struck by lightning during
training. The Koreans slipped to a 2-0 defeat, but coach Kim Kwang-min came armed with a fantastic
excuse for the loss.

Group C Preview
Group C is one of the toughest of the tournament, featuring two veteran (re: aging?) squads, a
mysterious team that even opposing coaches and players are struggling to get a read on, and a
young, hungry South American squad ready to turn heads.
In the group stage, that is. Tonight's Group F match between Australia and Denmark was suspended
due to heavy rains and lightning.
That means that there are still some teams waiting for their Round of 16 opponents. The match will
be replayed in its entirety tomorrow morning at 10 a.m., and only then will Uzbekistan and France
learn their first knock-out round opponents.
Creighton's Andrew Ribeiro (Green Bay Notre Dame) and Thierry
Zahui scored in a three-minute span in the second half as the Chicago Fire PDL team
knocked off the Madison 56ers 2-0 in a second-round match of the U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday at
Breese Stevens Field.
It was a strange night of soccer Tuesday at Breese Stevens Field. And in the end, not very much
soccer.
The Madison 56ers and the Chicago Fire's Premier Development League played just more than 17
minutes of their second-round U.S. Open Cup match before the game was halted by lightning with the
Fire ahead 1-0.
The Tottenham home kit was leaked here a few short days ago, but it's now been officially
released:

Oh how I rue shirt sponsorships. The plain-front version of this shirt was at least classy; the
sponsored version looks flat out cheap. The lack of
any secondary design or trim whatsoever
draws unwanted attention (at least in the eyes of everyone outside of Autonomy - the parent of the
Aurasma technology) towards the sponsor.
It was a surprise on Friday night when Newcastle seemed to move like greased lightning to bring
Sylvain Marveaux to Newcastle, and not only give him a medical, but also sign the player on a five
year deal around 2:00 am Saturday morning. Sylvain Marveaux in Newcastle dressing room It wasn't

Barcelona have won their fourth Champions League. It's their second in the past three years, and it
was won with an amazing display of dominance. While Manchester United offered some resistance in
the first half, by the end of the match we saw why Barcelona's ideal style of playing is loved by
so many around the world.

But do advance to the CFU Championship Final. One of Defence Force or Alpha United will be the
CFU's 3rd team and be a potential opponent.
Canadian Championship still undecided after lightning and heavy rain canceled this week's 2nd
leg.
Canadian Soccer Association officials have deemed the surface at BMO Field unplayable, and the
second leg of the Canadian championship between Toronto FC and the Vancouver Whitecaps has been
rescheduled for July 2.
Vancouver held a 1-0 lead in the 60th minute of Wednesday night's second leg, but torrential
downpours and repeated lightning forced the game to be abandoned.
Amanda and Megan bring you this episode. In a follow-up to the girls' discussion last week about
WPS and Dan Borislow, they revel in the drama that his latest antics have caused. They discuss the
nature of the US-Mexico rivalry in the women's game, as the USWNT has an upcoming match against "El
Tri" in June.
FC Dallas and Los Angeles looked to be playing out a 1-1 draw at Pizza Hut Park on Sunday night
before nature intervened. The two teams traded goals early in the second-half. Fabian Castillo put
FC Dallas up in the 47th minute, with that lead only lasting until the 51st when Landon Donovan
scored. The game was suspended in the 83rd minute due to lightning.
Derrick Rose can do no wrong. He has lifted his Chicago Bulls to the top of the Eastern
Conference. On a nightly basis, he cements his standing as the NBA's favorite to win the 2011 MVP
award. On Saturday, Brandon Jennings of the Milwaukee Bucks got a front row view of what Derrick
Rose could do and just how nasty he could be.
A new date for our away clash with Manchester City has finally been set and we will now travel
to Eastlands on the 10th May.
Last season we travelled to Eastlands for our penultimate game of the campaign and won 1-0 to
secure a top four finish. This season's fixture will see us play City with just two games to
follow, against Liverpool and Birmingham.
Hot on the heels of ‘In Search of Alan Gilzean', comes another must read for any Spurs fan.
The Ghost of White Hart Lane
is written by Rob White, son of John and tells the story of his quest to learn about the father
that he never knew.
John White played his part in all the great triumphs of the early 1960's; the 60/61 double
season, the 1962 FA Cup and the 1963 European Cup Winners Cup, where he scored in our famous win
over Atletico Madrid.

On 12 February 2011 La Equidad faced Atlético Nacional in the 2nd round of the Colombian Apertura
2011. The game had to be temporarily suspended after lightning hit the field. The game resumed and
the final score was 1-1. For more crazy South American football check out the rest of the Cosas

Lightning has struck twice against this Newcastle United team in their last two games, because
again today a win was turned into a draw when Aaron Lennon equalized for Tottenham in the first
minute of injury time. On 51 minutes Fabricio Coloccini had put Newcastle ahead with a good goal
when he rifled in his [.
Football in Belgium has been making a noise lately in Romelu Lukaku.
Lukaku has the quality of a future football superstar, making Brazil's Neymar look like a mere
schoolboy.
This Belgian teenager is still 17 years old, lightning fast, stands 6′ 3″, top scorer in the
Belgian First Division.
