Mexico - USA: I really want to believe, but I'm going to pick a narrow Mexico win. Honduras - Costa
Rica: Did you know there are six Liberia Mía players in the Costa Rican squad? I'm sure the crowd
in San Pedro Sula will remind them of last week. Honduras win. Trinidad & Tobago - El Salvador: I
see this ending in a goalless draw.

the late game. Here we go: San Juan Jabloteh 1-0 San Francisco (1-2 agg.) Árabe Unido 1-0 Olimpia
(2-2 agg.) Real España - Liberia Mía 1900 Commentary after the jump. 1848: Here I am. Looking

Herediano's humiliating 6-2 home defeat to Cruz Azul in the Champions League is the kind of result
that can end careers. Indeed, one hour after the match concluded, Herediano's directors moved to
fire manager Rónald Mora with immediate effect. Mora had been in charge of the team since March,
but he had been on thin ice since losing a winnable Verano final against Liberia Mía.

Just when I'm thinking it would be nice to write something noce about Malaysia they go and drop yet
more bollocks in the sporting world.
They stopped their athletes travelling to Singapore for the Asian Youth Games for fear of them
contracting H1N1. They cancelled their own Merdeka Cup for the same reason while at the same time
allowing Manchester United's high profile photo op to go ahead.

Malaysia have cancelled their two friendlies against Liberia and in a surprise move they are not
blaming H1N1. Oh no. They are cancelling the warm ups because they feel the players Liberia were
sending were not their first choice.

Costa Rica faces the United States on June 3rd in San Jose, Costa Rica. Costa Rican clubs Liberia
and Herediano are currently at odds with the Costa Rican Federation over whether or not their
players should be required to attend National Team camp. Those two clubs are set to play a two-game
series to decide the Costa Rican champion, scheduled for Sunday and Wednesday.

Just as quickly as Costa Rica's league championship appeared to be in limbo, the issue has been
resolved -- for now. The Costa Rican federation brought together representatives from Saprissa,
Liberia Mía and Herediano, and after the three were unable to agree on a resolution for the final,
the federation decided that the final would be played between Liberia and Herediano on Sunday and
Tuesday.

The Costa Rican football federation has ordered that the Verano final between Liberia Mía and

yellow card accumulation -- Minor Díaz, Pedro Salazar, and Michael Umaña.

DC United is going to Africa. Instead of their usual shopping in Latin America, the club has gone
in a different direction as of late. At the start of the season they signed Francis Doe (Libria)
and a month ago they signed keeper Louis Crayton (Liberia). Now they are set to bring on two more
Africans [.

Sad news for a class player. Lilian Thuram was all set for a move from Barcelona to PSG, until he

Good morning everybody. I'm back from my weekend away and there is a bunch to discuss from the
soccer world this Monday morning.
Let's start with several surprising World Cup qualiying results throughout the world.

Senegal scratched to a disappointing 0-0 draw with Gambia at the weekend in their latest World Cup qualifying game and the Rapids'
Bouna Coundoul was nowhere to be seen. Nobody could have expected Bouna to walk into the national team this time around but what has made it worse is that veteran goalkeeper, Tony Sylva, has now been chosen to captain the side.

Stadium issues have reared their ugly face in Africa again as at least eight Liberian football fans
died this weekend in Monrovia, Liberia during their country's opening World Cup qualifier against
Gambia.
A BBC correspondent in Monrovia says many fake tickets were in circulation, leading to overcrowding
at the 33,000 capacity Samuel K.

How awful!
Those poor unlucky people killed in that disaster at a Liberian football match.
It is a humbling reminder that whatever our small moans and groans in life there is always someone
facing something far worse.
Not that I'm feeling particularly gloomy today.

I saw a few Liberia stories pop up recently so I thought I would highlight them.
First, Voice of America has a story with video (also picked up by Chris Albon) about how the US
military, using private contractors, is helping rebuild Liberia's military. The UN does not want to
become Liberia's permanent police force, so the US is helping Liberia build an army that will
hopefully not partake in its past excesses.

Much of the world played World Cup qualifying last night.
Others played friendlies in preparation for the 2010 World Cup.
Africa was no exception as the continent prepares itself for the much-anticipated 2008 Beijing
Olympics and the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
First up, African champions Egypt were beaten 2-0 by the world's top ranked side, Argentina.

This story is just too good to pass up.
It's from the BBC and it concerns Liberian champions Mighty Barrolle. They've won the Liberian
championship twice in the last three years, but have found it difficult to reward their players for
their success and have watched as other clubs pinched their roster.
But not to fear. A branch of the club's supporters in New Jersey have stepped to bring a ray of
hope.
