Some more tough news for San Jose Earthquake fans, your new stadium project is now getting put
on hold. Earthquakes owner Lew Wolff has cooled off on a projected 2012 opening date for a new
stadium for the club, citing lack of sponsor interest and financial delays.
Wolff says the club still needs $5 million in sponsorship to get project off the ground.

The Earthquakes return to San Jose is close to becoming permanent as the city and team owner Lew

As far as wow factor, a city council approving a waiver in order to allow for a later submission
date for a proposal is not that exciting, however, the San Jose Earthquakes see it as a great sign
of things to come.
The waiver allows Earthquakes owner Lew Wolff the three months he says he needs to get all the
pieces of his stadium proposal together.

A major test for the Earthquakes stadium deal will take place next Tuesday when the City Council
takes a vote on extending Earthquakes' owner Lew Wolff's deadline for his final proposal. Recently
the city voted to limit land-use (basically zoning issues) discussions to once a year (in March),
however, Wolff, who needs some land rezones in order to pay for the new stadium, says he needs till
June to finalize his proposal.

black eye for the league seems almost healed as it appears the San Jose Earthquakes will return to
MLS play next season.
According to a source with knowledge of the deal, Oakland A's owner Lew Wolff and his
ownership group will be a guest of MLS Commissioner Don Garber at Thursday's All-Star game outside
of Denver, and the official announcement will likely come at Garber's annual state of the league
press conference on Wednesday.
