Deportivo Chairman Augusto César Lendoiro - Does The Former Partido Popular Politician Really Look Like The Sort Of Man Who Might Fix Football Matches?
Last month's match between Levante and Deportivo La Coruna in Spain's La Liga was fixed. Deportivo (the Turks) won 4-0.
Once again the top three in La Liga all registered wins at the weekend. Despite making hard work of beating Levante, Barcelona remain 13 points clear of Real Madrid with only 18 more points to play for.
With their impending Champions League semi-final first leg against Bayern Munich on his mind, Barca coach Tito Vilanova again rested key players and his depleted side struggled to break down a stubborn Levante at Camp Nou.

FC Barcelona kept on with their march to the La Liga title with a 1-0 victory at home against Levante. We did left it pretty late with the deciding goal from Cesc Fabregas coming in the 84th minute. The scoreline did not exactly tell the story of the game as we dominated it from the beginning. We were sloppy in the second half, but Vilanova was smart enough to make the necessary substitution in order to secure the important three points.
"Ho?geldiniz!" You're looking at the lavish 'Sultan-esque' bedrooms of the Real Madrid players who arrived in Istanbul earlier to face Galatasaray in the second-leg of their Champions League encounter tomorrow. Indeed, Jose Mourinho and his players will be resting their million-euro feet at the Ciragan Palace hotel ahead of their "visit to hell", as dubbed by the Turkish media.
Real Madrid turned things around at home and crushed Levante 5-1 after Michel gave the visitors an early lead. Gonzalo Higuain scored a magnificent goal to bring things level before Kaka gave the home side a 2-1 lead from the spot. Substitute Ronaldo made it 3-1 before Mesut Ozil scored the fourth and fifth goals to secure all three points.

Former Inter and Newcastle striker Obafemi Martins has reportedly paid €3 million to buy out his contract with Levante so he can join the Seattle Sounders. Martins joined Levante in September on a free transfer and signed a two-year deal before becoming the club's leading scorer this season with seven La Liga goals in 21 appearances.
La Liga Stadiums: As seen from above - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
There are a total of 88 football stadiums being used in Spain by clubs in all leagues. 59 of those have been used in the La Liga since its inception in 1929.
Out of those, only two are not used by any club: Estadio Olimpico La Cartuja in Seville and Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Barcelona.
Unsurprisingly Barcelona and Real Madrid dominated Spanish football in 2012. Barca accumulated over 100 points, whilst Real Madrid were ten points behind their bitter rivals. Interestingly during 2012 Valencia and Rayo Vallecano picked up the same number of points as each other, however Valencia drew 10 of their games, Vallecano drew just one a goalless game with Sevilla in September.

FC Barcelona kept their three point lead on top of the league with a brilliant 4-0 victory against Levante. The three point lead is brilliant but many Barca fans had another statistics in their mind - 11 points.

Barcelona v Levante Highlights: Cesc Fabregas scored in the 83rd minute to give Barcelona a 1-0 victory over Levante and three more crucial points in La Liga. The victory keeps Barcelona 13 points clear of Real Madrid on top of La Liga. David Villa missed a penalty in the first half but Fabregas was able to make up for the chance after he combined with Alexis Sanchez and found the back of the net himself.

Europa League: The Round of 32 Review - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
In the Round of 32 of the Europa League, we saw some straightforward results while some were just unbelievable.
After Joe Allen hinting that Liverpool will be focusing on the competition as their Premier League campaign is far from their own standards, we saw them succumb to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Zenit St.
Steve Cherundolo got the start for Hannover 96 in a 2-1 win over Levante at AWD-Arena. Hannover played a man down from the 9th-minute and trailed when Levante converted the ensuing penalty. Szabolcs Huszti equalized from the penalty spot in the 21st and Didier Ya Konan scored Hannover's winner in the 49th minute.
Both Sounders GM Adrian Hanauer and Coach Sigi Schmid talked briefly about the potential Designated Player signing of former Levante player Obafemi Martins when practice at Starfire wrapped up today. While neither was willing to confirm the deal, their words make the deal seem quite close to being done.
Obafemi Martins has confirmed over Twitter that he is leaving Levante and signing with the Seattle Sounders. This comes on the heels of Levante announcing that Martins had paid his exit fee and been released by the team. The last piece of the puzzle is for the Sounders to confirm the move themselves.
Depending on how you choose to interpret the information leaking out of Spain, it's either just a matter of time before Obafemi Martins joins the Seattle Sounders or the deal is completely dead. The onus seems to be entirely with the Sounders at this point, as they've reportedly come to personal terms with Martins and only need to decide if they are willing to pay his approximately $4 million exit fee plus about $800,000 in VAT.
The Obafemi Martins-transfer saga looks like it will drag on for at least a few more days, as the latest reports suggest nothing will be finalized until Monday at the earliest. Nothing from the Seattle Sounders' end suggests they are preparing to walk away, but it does appear as though Levante is doing everything in their power to drag this out as long as they can.
Former Serie A and English Premier League star Obafemi Martins is rumored to be on the Sounders FC radar. He hasn’t dipped much in form since his peak, as he plays for Levante in La Liga right now.
Seattle Sounders FC has been recently linked to a number of current and former stars playing in Spain.
Former Newcastle United striker Obafemi Martins says that he hopes to beat Real Madrid tomorrow when Jose Mourinho's men clash against Martins' Levante. The defending La Liga champions failed to beat Levante in Valencia last season, and Martins is expecting a war asLos Blancos aim to exact revenge.
I know, it sounds ridiculous. Arsenal would not pay €70 million for anybody, nevermind a young striker who cannot get into the Real Madrid team, but the amount of the clause does not necessarily mean that Real Madrid would not accept any less for their 20-year old striker, Alvaro Morata.
The Mirror broke the story yesterday, and Spanish newspaper AS reports today about the clause in the contract.
Cristiano Ronaldo received an elbow to the face just two minutes into Madrid's 2-1 win over Levante at the week-end which had his eye pouring with bllod, however he played on until half-time and even scored a volley in the 21st minute before Jose Mourinho subbed his superstar at half-time after he revealed Ronaldo had lost sight in both eyes and will undergo tests at a Hospital in Madrid.
Cristiano Ronaldo has been accused of being soft many times over the years, but in Real Madrid's match against Levante, he showed that a little blood in his eye can't keep him from scoring.
In the opening minutes of the match, Cristiano took an elbow to the eye from Levante's David Nevarro.
Spain has been good to Arsenal in the last two seasons, with Mikel Arteta and Santi Cazorla adding flair to the midfield, and the financial problems encountered by most of the clubs in the Spanish Primera liga mean that they are likely to receive lots of offers for players in January. Arsenal, Newcastle, Sunderland and Wigan have been scouting the defensive midfielder Pape Diop who plays for Levante, according to Talksport.
David Navarro is a thug. Thankfully, neither the pitch nor Levante's extensive practice of Football's 'Dark Arts' got in the way of getting 3 points tonight for us.
For some odd TV scheduling reason, by the time I switched the TV on at 4:30am this morning to watch Levante-Real Madrid, Atletico vs Getafe was still on (82').
