The WPS home page and standings page are afraid to admit it, apparently, but Chicago is out of the
playoffs. I'm guessing it's because "See the Sol and Red Stars jog around for two hours!" isn't a
recipe for FSC ratings gold.
Nevertheless, we must not quail from the truth. The Red Stars have 17 points, and two games left =
maximum of 23 points.

The Sol (11-2-4) can clinch the inaugural WPS regular season title with just a point on the road
tonight at FC Gold Pride (3-9-3), a team that hasn't won in eight games and are 0-3 against LA this
season.
Gold Pride will play on just three days rest after taking the field Sunday, while the Sol have
had a considerably longer opportunity to relax, sustaining a rare 1-0 home loss July 8 to St.

More than a few times has Heather Mitts and Leslie Osborne been mistaken for each other and/or
compared to each other, mostly when they are on the field, and mostly by fans and TV analysts. Sure
both are very blond, have similar hair styles, similar builds (although Osborne is 5-8 and Mitts is
5-5), similar facial structure and often wear similar cute hairbands, but last night in Rochester
it got taken to another level.

FC Gold Pride has been taking some time off after going on a two-game road trip that had them
tie the Boston Breakers 1-1 on June 17, followed by a 2-0 loss to WPS-best L.A. Sol on June 21.
While on break, I was able to catch up with team captain Leslie Osborne to ask her some
questions on the team, playing in an upstart pro league and more.

Couple of notes in tomorrow's paper:
Wambach waits: WPS' disciplinary committee will take a closer look at an incident
from Sunday's St. Louis-Washington game in which a challenge from Abby Wambach left St. Louis star
Daniela with two injured knee ligaments and a crack in her tibia.

It's a sweltering afternoon in Carson and to call this crowd "sparse" - or even a crowd, frankly
- would be charitable.

Faulk, Manya Makoski; midfielders Ali Wagner, Shannon Boxx, Aya Miyama, Camille Abily; forwards

Hey y'all. I was the guest blogger for The Red Card, the Chicago Tribune's soccer blog. It seems
that Luis is on holiday and in between interesting people like Leslie Osborne and Ben Olsen, he
decided to let me sully the good name of the venerable Windy City publication. Nice!
If you want to see what I have to say about blogging go here.

Injured USWNT star Leslie Osborne spent yesterday in Chicago promoting the Chicago Red Stars and

Stars Head Coach Emma Hayes who took her to the IWSL Fall Seeding Meeting in Schaumburg, which
started at 7:30 am.

The Toyota Park Annex (aka as the Chicago Red Stars office) has been rockin' with action lately.
Consider:
* The interior rehab was recently completed with the addition of cubes for our sales staff and
interns.
* The exterior design was completed yesterday with the addition of Red Stars and Toyota Park logos,
Women's Professional Soccer word mark and a number of red stars.

Some have already mentioned "karma" in the situation of Abby Wambach's broken leg. Even
in a context where it should have no bearing, it's impossible to ignore the previous controversy of
team members who were angry with Hope Solo's statements at the past World Cup.
Now, do I believe that Hope Solo had a little voodoo doll of these players that she stuck pins
into?

June 12, 2008 - The three most dreaded letters in the alphabet for a female athlete are A. C.
L. Veteran soccer player Cat Whitehill learned the hard way. The
star defender dreamed of playing in the Olympics this year, joining a new women's pro
league next year and then playing for the U.S. in the London Games in 2012.

Dear Leslie,
I see that you have a love for cheese. That isn't surprising considering that you're from
Brookfield, Wisconsin. The problem is, and you may not be aware of it yet, you grew up 300 miles
from from Ellsworth, Wisconsin. How is that a problem? Ellsworth is the cheese curd capital of
Wisconsin.
