A trip to Goodison Park is just the tonic needed following our recent troubles, namely a
bizarre, referee-induced three-goal collapse at home against Manchester United.
Wait, what? We rarely win at Everton? Shit.
Mean muggin'
We have actually won at Goodison this season, a 2-1 victory in extra time in the League Cup.

Wigan Athletic 1-1 Everton Premier League 4th February 2012
A late Victor Anichebe goal was enough to rob perpetual strugglers Wigan of a vital and rare
victory. The defeat leaves the Latics bottom of the table and looking like dead certs for the
drop.

Don't feel bad that you missed all the transfer news because you're such important people. We
too were engaged in frantic busy work (sleeping, shopping, drinking or a horrifying and painful
combination of all three) when the window slammed shut at 23.

Everton 1-0 Manchester City Premier League 31st January 2012
Roberto Mancini's nouveau riche Citizens just can't seem to put any decent daylight between them
and their Manchester rivals in the race for the title.
2.7 million players play Fantasy Premier League football. 6% of them own Leighton Baines. That's
about 162,000 frustrated owners this evening after Everton (again) failed to keep a clean sheet at
home against inferior opposition drawing 1-1 with Blackburn ... Continue reading →

Benoit Assou Ekotto's spectacular 30 yard strike continued a tradition of Spurs long range bombs
in recent times - Danny Rose, Rafael Van Der Vaart, Tom Huddlestone, Kyle Walker, come to mind. The
first goal came from Aaron Lennon, cutting past Leighton Baines, after the left back completely
missed clearing a long diagonal ball from Ekotto, and then shooting past the diving Tim Howard.
So the Premier League season is finally here, it's Tottenham Hotspur's opening game versus
Everton..........
That's how the preview for this one should have started, but the unfortunate and unseemly
rioting of early August put paid to Spurs opening fixture. Now this is the game in hand it's vital
that Spurs get maximum points if they want to be taken seriously as title challengers.
Should Tottenham fail to win their gimme game in hand, that hand will be wiping egg off that
puffy face.
For those who don't support Tottenham, the frequently heard refrain of, "we've got such and such
points, and when we win our game in hand..." got old a long time ago. At long last the fixture lost
to the months-ago unpleasantness in London (August riots) will be resolved on Wednesday, and none
too soon.
Manchester City are weighing up a sensational £60 million move for unsettled Manchester United
striker Wayne Rooney in a deal which will shock British football. Rooney is at the centre of a
bitter row with United boss Sir Alex Ferguson after the Scotsman axed him from the team to face
Blackburn Rovers at the end [.
It's not all that surprising that an American scored at Goodison Park on Wednesday. After all,
Everton's match against Bolton marked Landon Donovan's return to the Toffees. Thing is, Donovan
wasn't the one to find the back of the net.
In open play, goalkeeper Tim Howard unleashed a long kick from his own box that took a perfect
bounce from about 25 yards out and got carried by a furious wind over Bolton goalkeeper Adam Bogdan
into the goal.
Thierry Henry has all but completed his two-month loan move back to Arsenal after photos of the
French striker wearing the new Arsenal shirt were released. The Gunners legend will spend
two-months on loan with his former club and is even expected to feature in Arsenal's FA Cup
third-round tie with Leeds United at the [.

On Boxing Day, Martin O'Neill's Sunderland were a goal ahead and looking to pick up all three
points against Everton when, early in the second-half, the Toffees' diminutive schemer Leon Osman
ran into the Black Cats box with the intention of shooting on goal.
Boxing Day is one of the most exciting days of the year for soccer fans as all 20 Premier League
teams take to the field over a two-day period and Monday's offerings did not disappoint.
Manchester United are now tied at the top of the Premier League title after a 5-0 destruction of
Wigan.
Let's get right to it:
Back at it in Candyland...
• Everton welcomes Norwich City to it's Really Goodison
The Premiership world was shocked when Everton announced that American Landon Donovan will come
on loan to the Land of Toffee starting January 4th.
Okay, not shocked actually at all except for the fact that Everton actually got a quality player
to help them in a battle with Father Relegation, even if only for two months.
Arsenal ensured their 125th birthday celebrations were marked with a victory when defeating
Everton 1-0 at Emirates Stadium in the Premier League thanks to a goal of outstanding beauty from
Robin van Persie.
Just a day after the club unveiled statues of Herbert Chapman, Tony Adams and Thierry Henry
outside their ground, Van Persie demonstrated why he may one day attain legendary status of his own
in Islington with his 15th and best league goal of a wonderful season.

Thomas Vermaelen will play in the left back position
All four centre backs have been deployed against Everton. Thomas Vermaelen at left back, Per
Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny form the central pairing, and Johan Djourou at right.
For Arsenal the danger men are Tim Cahill who loves to lose himself in the thicket of tall
defenders rising from nowhere for his headers, Leighton Baines who will fancy himself against a
relatively static Djourou to bomb forward, and Louis Saha who still packs in an explosive
finish.

Now that England are safely through to the Euro2012 Tournament Finals in Poland and
Ukraine next summer, and that their Group opponents have already been finalised, I thought it
timely to decide who might be in the squad for the June kick off against France in
Donetsk.
News of a takeover any takeover will be perceived very well by supporters of
Everton.
Owner Bill Kenwright is a Blue through and through, but he simply does not have the funds to
keep the club competing at the level it has previously under manager David Moyes, which has seen
the Merseyside club not only lag behind their city rivals Liverpool in spending on new players, but
also the rest of the Premier League.

Bolton Wanderers 0-2 Everton Premier League 26th November 2011
Any hopes Owen Coyle's Bolton side had of securing a vital victory against Everton on Saturday
were extinguished after just 10 minutes when David Wheater saw red for a dangerous tackle on
Diniyar Bilyaletdinov.

Everton 2-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers Premier League 19th November 2011
Both sides benefited from penalty kicks in this rather dour encounter at Goodison Park.
Wolves' Stephen Hunt opened the scoring from the penalty spot on 37 minutes after Marouane
Fellaini fouled David Edwards in the Toffees' box.

Everton came from behind to beat Wolves 2-1 at Goodison Park today, Stephen Hunt gave Wolves the
lead slamming home a controversial penalty, before Phil Jagielka and Leighton Baines made sure the
home side won all three points having dominated with most of the possesion.
England 1-0 Sweden: English youth reaps win - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
Gareth Barry's deflected header gave England their second win in three days as the Three Lions
beat Sweden 1-0. Barry's goal on 20 minutes was the country's 2,000th goal and the only goal of
this game as Fabio Capello's men cruised to victory at Wembley.
Having just defeated the World Cup holders, Spain, and then Sweden, their bete noire (Sweden
were undefeated against England for almost half a century, until Tuesday evening), England have
gone nine matches without defeat. Fortunes are good, expectations are up, possibilities are
endless. England beat Spain without Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, John Terry and Steven Gerrard and
then they beat Sweden with Bobby Zamora, Stewart Downing and Theo Walcott in attack and Jack
Rodwell and Phil Jones in midfield.
By Chris Wright
Not that it really mattered, but England broke a 43-year hoodoo by beating Sweden for the first
time in 13 games at a sparsely-populated Wembley last night, with the narrow victory also affording
them their first defeat-less calendar year since 1994.

Everton 0-1 Manchester United Premier League 29th October 2011
A 3-0 mid-week Carling Cup win at Aldershot was never really going to erase the trauma of last
week's derby disaster for United, but a hard-fought 1-0 win at Goodison at least keeps the pressure
on the Red Devils' noisy neighbours.
What another great result for Chelsea tonight. Everton away is a hard place to go and get a result,
especially having to make the long trip up north in midweek!. This was a game that had everything,
three goals, two players sent off and two missed penalties. There was plenty of goal mouth action
too and once again frustratingly we failed to keep a clean sheet!
If there's one thing most Liverpool fans would be able to agree on it's that left back Jose
Enrique has exceeded expectations, and if the season were to end today he'd likely be named the
club's player of the season. Still, it's been difficult to judge him objectively, at least from a
strictly Liverpool perspective.
Danny Sturridge scored AGAIN this past weekend and his form has been impressive ever since he came
back here. In an interview published in The Guardian titled "Daniel Sturridge displays new maturity
in Chelsea's win over Everton", Sturridge speaks of his form and how he is reminded to work hard
every day.
Influential Everton center back Phil Jagielka has praised teammate Leighton Baines, telling the
club's official website that the left back has been the club's "best player" in recent years.
Despite a convincing defeat at the hands of Chelsea on Saturday, Baines will welcome the
comments as Fabio Capello begins to contemplate his squad for next summer's European
Championships.
The return of European club football is indeed glorious. The return of David Moyes' Everton to
Stamford Bridge is not so much glorious as it is shitty.
Will we finally shatter this recent Toffees hex?
Damn this man.
The Barclays Premier League returns this weekend following a two-week break for international
qualifiers and the like.
Leighton Baines has revealed that Liverpool hatched a plan to snatch him away from Everton during
the summer transfer window.
The England full back, linked with Manchester City among others, has quickly turned into one of the
Toffees' star turns with his dazzling crosses and runs from the left-back position.

Purpose and work begin to repay Liverpool investment in Andy Carroll
• Striker scores his first league goal of the season • Liverpool are a new team still
gelling, he says The breakthrough in the 216th Merseyside derby should also herald a defining
moment in the Liverpool career of Andy Carroll, a point where Kenny Dalglish's irritation at
inquests into his £35m investment and Fabio Capello's concern at the player's lifestyle are
replaced by renewed focus on his ability.
England will head into their Euro 2012 showdown with Montenegro without two of their most
experienced players after Rio Ferdinand and Steven Gerrard were both left out of Fabio Capello's
squad.
The Three Lions need a draw in Podgorica on Friday to book their place at next summer's European
Championship finals, and Capello has decided they can achieve that mission without two men who have
amassed a combined total of 167 caps.
