Interested in helping out a wonderful community project and possibly rub elbows with Timbers
legends Mick Hoban or Scot Thompson? The Friends of Trees are holding their annual tree planting on
Saturday, February 11, and is inviting Timbers fans and community volunteers to join in the fun.
Timber Joey will be there, but he's helping put trees in the ground, not cutting them down to
celebrate goals.
FC Barcelona vs. Brazil in 1999 - The Full Match
The beginning of the week is never enjoyable, but let's lessen the dosage of suffering with a
glorious find on Youtube. 1999 was FC Barcelona's centenary year and the whole season was quite
the celebration of everything FC Barcelona.
Arsenal legends Dennis Bergkamp and Tony Adams are squaring up for a head-to-head clash – with
the winner securing a coaching role at the Emirates.
The former Gunners are frontrunners to replace Steve Bould within the coaching staff at the club
at the end of the season.
Bould is poised to replace the retiring Pat Rice as Arsene Wenger's No.
Old Trafford legends Roy Keane and Paul Ince were livid with Man United's 'schoolboy defending' at
Anfield earlier today, and both players were disappointed that Alex Ferguson's team could not turn
[what they perceived to be] superior possession and quality into goals.Summarising the game on ITV,
Keane was typically blunt about United's defensive failures:"Poor goals from United's point of
view;
Football is a romantic game and, to many, the raw emotion a football match can invoke surpasses
that of any other sport. There is nothing better than seeing great players battling it out on the
field. Fans take true delight in any match when legends, known all over the world, take to the
pitch to fight for supremacy.
During his four years in charge at Anfield, Roy Evans produced one of the most exciting and
entertaining Liverpool teams of the last thirty years. With the likes of Robbie Fowler and Steve
McManaman playing alongside club legends John Barnes and Ian Rush, it was pure joy being a fan in
the mid-1990s.

Quite a transfer coup for Newcastle with the signing of £10 million pound number 9 Papiss Demba
Cisse from German side Freiburg. The Senegalese striker will wear the famous shirt, as worn by
previous Newcastle legends Alan Shearer, Jackie Milburn and Malcolm Macdonald. He will make up half
of a potentially lethal strikeforce alongside Newcastle's other top striker, also from Senegal,
Demba Ba.

Football Aid 2012 – Bid to Play at Loftus Road!
Patrice Evra is one of a select few foreign players who genuinely seems to get what this club is
all about. Whilst Eric Cantona and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will forever be remembered as United
legends, I struggle to think of any player who speaks as eloquently about United as Evra does.
Following back to back defeats in the league before an important win over Manchester City in the
FA Cup, Evra has claimed that because of the history of this club, we never give up.
Japanese World Cup winner Homare Sawa beat out a strong field that included Brazilian Marta and
Abby Wambach to win the FIFA Women's World Player of the year 2011.
Marta who was looking to win the award for a 6th consecutive time had to contend with a second
place finish while Abby Wambach of the USA came in in third place.
With it being New Year's Eve, I figured it was time to take a look back at the 2011 wishes that I'd
posted at the end of last year.
1. Return to the Playoffs - This was filled 100%, not only did KC qualify for the playoffs again,
but the team won the regular season Eastern Conference crown and had home field advantage.

Ever since he arrived at Anfield, Liverpool fans - myself included - have been calling for Glen
Johnson to be played as a right winger. Given his regular defensive mistakes, it seems like a
no-brainer to prioritise Johnson's attacking ability, but despite the groundswell of opinion in
favour of a move to the right wing, Liverpool legends Ray Houghton and Gary Gillespie insist that

The celebration of Arsenal's 125th anniversary recently has led to the erection of three Arsenal
legends namely Thierry Henry, Tony Adams and Herbert Chapman. Many questioned Henry's credentials
to have a statue outside the Emirates. This is because Henry left the club in 2007 due to declining
form and the desire to wanting to win [.

I'm going to make this quick, because it's too late to garner much attention anyway.
Tomorrow we face Everton at the Emirates. I feel like I could just copy this preview from any
game they've played over the past few seasons: They're a pretty good team, but they are struggling
to score goals because they don't really have a good striker.

John Barnes recently argued that Liverpool fans should 'move on' and stop wasting 'negative energy'
on Fernando Torres, but despite the acrimony towards the Spaniard, there are still lots of fans -
myself included - who would love to see El Nino back at Anfield. LFC Legends Ray Houghton and Gary
Gillespie are not so sure though.

Earlier in the season, Liverpool legends Graeme Souness and Ray Houghton expressed concern about
Luis Suarez's tendency to go down too easily, and John Aldridge has now joined them in highlighting
this unfortunate aspect of the Uruguayan's game.
During the 2-0 victory against Everton in October, Suarez was fouled by Jack Rodwell, and his
reaction played a part in the Everton player being sent off (the red card was subsequently
rescinded).

It's no secret that Liverpool have struggled to score goals this season, and despite the talents of
Luis Suarez, the club still (arguably) lacks a 'fox in the box' goal-poacher; a Robbie Fowler-type
player with a knack for scoring goals regularly. One player constantly linked with Liverpool is
Jermain Defoe, but club legends Ray Houghton and Gary Gillespie insist that he is not the player
Liverpool need.
"Get ready to get closer. Closer to legends. Closer to history and closer to the unseen magic of

Well, I guess we were wrong and Ajax is going with nuclear option #3. In a move to end the
bickering and feuding that has gone on at Ajax in recent years between Ajax board members and
former player legends, Ajax's governing council has asked all 5 board members, including Cruyff, to
resign. Any board member that refuses to resign will be voted out, most likely, by shareholders.

It's that time again when, bereft of international friendlies and general news, and having
exhausted the vaults of Azzurri legends to fawn over, the Italy World Cup Blog resorts to either
posting a photo of mediocre quality picked up at the last minute from the FIGC website, or telling
a tired anecdote about when it was young.
