With the international breaks at an end for a fair few months now, Tottenham have an opportunity to
lock their collective mind on continuing their impressive progress in the Premier League. Wigan
visit the Lane tomorrow afternoon and as enigmatic as the visitors appear to be at times, Spurs'
slick passing should be more than a match for them and provided the strikers can locate their
specially made shooting boots, there could be goals in the offing.

Count the years off one by one. Every single year in this decade we have played Spurs home and away
in the League. And out of twenty matches we haven't lost a single one. Not a single one.
Even if we had lost one, we could still reflect on the annual difference between the teams shown by
the League table.

Highlights and an interview with Arsene Wenger below.
I am still walking on air following our demolition of Spurs yesterday. With a glorious 3-nil
victory at the Emirates we were able to put some breathing space between us and the four clubs
trailing us at the moment.

Whatever you can prove on paper about the relative strengths of the two squads, on the day, on the
pitch we were out played, outfought, out thought and exposed as mere pretenders to the higher
reaches of the league. We were not in the same league as Arsenal. Actually that is the problem: we
are.Now let's not get carried away.

Arsenal's use of the whole pitch created space and angles to open up the Spurs defence as two
goals inside a minute set-up a comfortable win.

A period of forty-nine seconds in the first half typified what Arsenal are about this season as
Arséne Wenger's Catalan-inspired reinvention has given the Gunners an explosiveness and
unpredictability that was beginning to seep away from the side.

"Welcome to my nightmare, welcome to my breakdown."
Alice Cooper's 1975 campy anthem sums up the last five minutes of the first half for Spurs.
Harry Redknapp probably regrets starting a clearly unfit Ledley King who has struggled with
injuries this season. Sagna on the right whips in a cross which Van Persie reacts to more quickly,
outmaneuvering King to turn the ball past Heurelho Gomes for the first goal in the 42nd minute.

So yet another installment of the fiery North London derby has passed. Tottenham, missing
Jermaine Defoe through a suspension and Aaron Lennon through injury, looked a shadow of the side
which threatened to take over one of the top 4 spots earlier in the season. Arsenal, on the other
hand, were magnificent.

Tottenham are now third in the table after a 1-2 win over Portsmouth in Fratton Park. Ledley King
and Defoe were on the scoresheet for Spurs. Tottenham's old boy, Kevin-Prince Boateng, pulled a
goal back for the Pompeys in the 59th minute.

If the draw at Bolton a few weeks back was a game the Tottenham of old would have certainly lost,
then today's hard fought 2-1 win down at Portsmouth was definitely in the same bracket. Ahead
through a well placed header from Ledley King and a marvellously worked goal from Jermain Defoe,
Spurs then contrived to find themselves under overwhelming pressure for much of the second half.

Ledley King is rumoured to be extremely likely to play at Portsmouth tomorrow after his prolonged
absence from the starting XI. This is, obviously, great news - if I see Tom Huddlestone lining up
at centre back one more time, I'll have a coronary.
But the other bit of defensive comeback news that we should all be throwing our proverbial hats in
the air for is that Jonathan Woodgate has resumed full training again and is thought to be inching
closer to a first start of the season.

Who will make that plane? (I.e who should be in the squad for the World Cup Finals as opposed to
who will construct the airplane itself.)
With England firmly through to the World Cup Finals next summer we can look forward to long
balmy nights in and outside pubs/bars enjoying the festivities and also having a team to support,
hopefully Ireland will also make it through the play-offs as well.

The Sun has said that Harry could be lining up a smart little mover for David James.
Let's just hope that a deal materialises this time round, although I do think Levy was right to not
sanction a £2 million transfer fee for the 39 year old, even if he was the England keeper at the
time, which, let's face it, isn't hard to be with the current crop of England keepers.

With the season starting slightly earlier this year due to the World Cup, most teams in the
Premiership have played 8 league games already. Last season, the 8th round of matches was played
two weeks later, on the weekend of October 18th/19th. By the end of it, Tottenham were staring up
at every other team in the league with a lowly 2 points.

Word has it that Harry Redknapp is trying to lure his former Portsmouth defender back to

bring Campbell back to Spurs, mainly due to the controversy surrounding his move to arch rivals
Arsenal, the Tottenham boss is still a big admirer.

Gary Neville thinking to himself about how crap and old he is

The sight of Ledley King pulling up when Didier Drogba was running towards the Tottenham goal in
Sunday's London derby left me with a resigned feeling of deja vu. Even on one leg, a training
regime of swimming twice a week and the frailties of the midfield formation that wasn't working,
King was keeping Drogba quiet.

Come the revolution, the Premier League will be no more – of that you can be certain. As clubs
attempt to regain control of their upwardly spiralling finances, the top flight will break up into
smaller regionalised leagues, thereby reinforcing the weakening notion of local derbies and local
rivalries.

I suppose the one bit of good news is that Woody came through his first training session on
Friday. I'm not sure how long he'll still be out for though, but seeing as we don't play for two
