It was supposed to be a very close title race. Jagiellonia Białystok was to everything possible
to fight for their first ever championship. Legia Warsaw was to get much stronger after the winter
break due to transfers and Maciej Skorża's work. Lech Poznań was to forget about the European
adventure, concentrate solely on the league and earn win after win.
Józef Wojciechowski takes no prisoners, three games was enough for him to fire the Dutch coach
Theo Bos. Polonia Warsaw, with three Polish internationals, was supposed to fight for the European
competition, but is more likely to struggle to avoid relegation at the moment. The owner of the
club, JW, is partly to blame as he's already fired three coaches this season.
Lech's dream like Europa League run may continue even further. Once again, as in the game
against Juventus, Kolejorz grabbed a good result in horrible weather. Just as in the previous case,
the game was a rather dull one and hard to watch (especially after the extraordinary Arsenal vs.
Barca on Wednesday).
The transfer that seemed to have died out was finally confirmed today by the Lech Poznań
officials. Rafał Murawski, our starting central midfielder, returns to Poland after spending two
years in Kazan playing for the local Rubin. This comes as a great news for the Kolejorz and
Ekstraklasa fans, especially after an exodus of many talented players in the January transfer
window, but is a worrying piece of information for those who value the success of the national team
the most.
