Lebanon achieve the impossible Lebanon Daily Star.
As a sidebar to all of the hype surrounding the Euro2012 play off qualifiers this past week, I
noticed a great story emerging out of the Middle East which deserves more than a mention. Asian
power South Korea were beaten 2-1 in Beirut by Lebanon who rank 112 places below them in the FIFA
rankings which in any region is a huge accomplishment.
The District tournament will be held at Camdenton High School, with a play-in game on Saturday

Revealed: What Liverpool MD Ian Ayre's name means in Lebanon, plus Roy Hodgson's book
club
Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre's suggestion that Premier League clubs should be allowed to
sell their own overseas TV rights – thus benefitting established clubs while leaving the little
guys to twist in the wind – will go down well in the Middle East.
RIP United Arab Emirates player Awana Diab (aka Theyab Awana) scorer of this summer's most famous
penalty has died in a car crash. The 21-year-old star came to the attention of the world's media
and won many plaudits with his cocky penalty against Lebanon in July, despite being substituted and
given a public [.

Theyab Awana, the UAE winger who became an internet sensation after netting a supremely cheeky
back-heeled penalty kick in the UAE's 7-2 demolition of Lebanon in July, has been killed in a car
crash.
The 21-year-old was driving back to Abu Dhabi on Sunday evening after taking part in a national
team training session in Al Ain when his car collided with a truck.
International weeks are never welcome however, this international break has come at a rather
helpful time for Arsenal. If Arsene can pull himself away from his commentary duties on French TV
and get back on the training ground trying to sort out his new-look squad, we could emerge from an
international break a much more formidable team for once.
Arsenal striker Chu Young Park believes that joining the Gunners means added responsibility as he
celebrated his first hat-trick, for his National side, against Lebanon. Speaking to Arsenal Player
on what it means to be part ...
Arsenal striker Chu Young Park is ready to use World Cup Qualifiers against Lebanon and Kuwait to

21 year old Awana Diab should watch his back after his cheeky back-heel penalty
in the United Arab Emirates 6-2 thrashing of Lebanon at the week-end, I'm sure there's many a
defender and midfield hard man ready to snap him in half with a tackle after rubbing salt into the
wounds of the Lebanese players.
This awkward looking back heel penalty (degree of grace -1.75) had the unfortunate effect of
mesmerizing the goalie into thinking Awana was going to moon him when he turned around because his
reactions were that of a man drugged on a cocktail of morphine, percocet, and trazodone topped off
with 30 shots of moonshine.
Backheels! Backflips! Jacko spins! Endless retakes! Awana Diab and the weirdest
penalties ever!
United Arab Emirates player Awana Diab is the talk of the interweb after taking this amazing
penalty kick in their 6-2 friendly rout of Lebanon yesterday.

Backheel spot-kick madness We have all seen how stupid a player can look by opting for a casually
taken penalty, so fair play to the UAE's Awana Diab who successfully converted this backheeled
penalty against Lebanon. Ever the pessimists, OTP can't help but wonder what his team-mates would
have thought if he had scuffed this [.
By Chris Wright
Not the first back-heeled penalty we've ever seen (that honour goes to Francesco Totti off the
top of our heads), though it definitely took a sizeable set of swingers for the UAE's Awana Diab to
step up and pull this off against Lebanon yesterday...
Malaysia's quest for Olympic glory is sure gonna be a tricky one. After overcoming Lebanon and
Pakistan the heat is being turned up as they join 11 other Asian nations in the draw for the next
qualifying round.
Malaysia have been drawn with Syria, Bahrain and Malaysia in Group C. The winners of that group
will go through to the London Olympics while the runners up will go into a play off with the winner
of that going into another play off.
A Lebanon Kuwait friendly ended up in a brawl after the game itself ended with the scoreline

Nixa vs Pershing, Middle School Girls
The Nixa Middle School varsity squad held on for a 3-2 victory last Tuesday night at the Greenwood
Stadium Field. A 3 goal lead almost didn't stand up as the Pershing Generals fought back with a
pair of late goals to narrow the gap. It was the first goals the Eagles had given up this season.

The Middle Eastern country of Qatar is still on a high following its successful bid to host the
2022 FIFA World Cup. This month the oil rich country has the opportunity to showcase itself to the
world and prove that its victory was justified when it hosts the 15th edition of the AFC Asian Cup,
the first time it has held this event since 1988.
