League an opportunity to make more money for UEFA.

EPL Talk 29 December @ 04:23 AM EDT
Because Twitter won't let me post more than 140 characters, here are my thoughts about the
Premier League matches I watched on television Monday:
Sunderland can't hold on to a lead, Wolves can't score, Spurs look fast on the break, Bellamy
and Tevez are both dynamite when they're playing together, Darren Bent should start for England,
and Fulham looked amazing for 73 minutes.

The English Premier League is nearing the half-way mark with Chelsea maintaining a five point
lead over Manchester United. With Arsenal losing to Chelsea they are now 11 points back but do have
one game in hand. Liverpool is 13 points back back and Tottenham is 10 points back in third place.
It looks like Chelsea and Man U will be fighting for the title with the last two UEFA Champions
League spots up for grabs.

The Good:
"De Jong Not Worth It, No goals assists or bonus, Just Like Nicky Butt." A spot on haiku about the
massively overpaid Dutchman. De Jong failed to impress after a January transfer move from Hamburg.

First off, let me just say how happy I am that the UEFA Cup tournament finally is over.
Prediction-wise, that tournament is a crap shoot given the different motivations that each
participating club has in that tournament as opposed to each club's own domestic motivations.
Much easier to predict are the meaningful continental championships like the UEFA Champions League
and the Copa Libertadores.

Hopefully, you haven't been following along with our UEFA Cup predictions too closely here at WCR.
While our Champions League predictions (11-3) and Copa Libertadores predictions (6-1) have been
pretty good, the UEFA Cup predictions have been pretty damn poor. Following a 4-12 start to the
knockout stages, we came back with our best round with a 6-2 record in the second knockout stage.
