Simon Bird's Premier League previews and predictions (Week 7)
My inspiration this week, predictably many of you might say, has come from our great leader in

Time to write my Premier League predictions. Here goes:
1) Man Utd - I think this will be a very tough race with the top three all challenging. Ultimately
I think Utd will win out.
2) Man City- I only want to see some more playmaking ability in the central midfield, then I'm
convinced.

The new Premier League fixture list has been released with the champions Manchester
United set to begin their defence of their title away to West Bromwich Albion, whilst Arsenal
travel to Newcastle.
The Gunners will be quick to recall memories of their disastrous 4-4 draw at St James Park last
season where Arsene Wenger's men dramatically threw away a four goal lead.
When Manchester United line-up against Barcelona next week, the focus will be on how the Premier
League champions can keep Lionel Messi from having too much of an impact on proceedings. Many teams
have tried and failed to stop the Argentinean from weaving his magic and if United don't manage it,
then it is hard to see any other result than a Barca win.
West Bromwich Albion have really had a season of two halves and could finish it on a high with a
Premier League top ten finish, according to Jonas Olsson.
The Swede has been a stand-out performer for the Baggies this season as they successfully achieved
their number one goal of avoiding Premier League relegation in their first season back in the top
flight.
Having come up against the second best Premier league side, according to the current table anyway,
and swatted them away like a very tiny fly, Barcelona have already dealt with one of the best that
Europe has to offer, leaving their opponents questioning whether or not they stand a chance of
stopping Pep Guardiola's side from picking up the Champions League crown this season.
Frank Lampard reckons the Champions League should be Chelsea's number one aspiration for this
season. The England midfielder knows Chelsea are seemingly out of the Premier League title race
after some poor form that has seen them drop to fifth and sit 12 points behind leaders Manchester
