Now you don’t see ‘em, now you do

East Lower 20 November @ 03:20 PM EST

Fridays always have the potential to bring better news on the injury front, what with Wenger's press conference, and there was certainly plenty of good news today.

From a list that that seemed earlier on this week to be mushrooming out of control, things now look a bit more normal, don't they?

‘Phew’ says Arson – It could have been worse…….

Avenell Road 20 November @ 03:27 AM EST

That's an expression I really dislike!

Being the sufferer of bad bones as I am, in the days when I lived with my Mother and would be in dreadful pain and discomfort, she would often say, well think youself lucky, look at so and so up in the village, she's in a wheelchair with her Arthritis!

Man United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has recently been handed a two-game touchline ban but he will be allowed to be in the dugout this Saturday. The Football Association (FA) has said that the ban does not start until 14 days after the disciplinary hearing, which was last week.
This means that Sir Alex will not be in the dugout for a Premier League game against Portsmouth and the Carling Cup tie against Tottenham Hotspur. Click to continue reading...

Chelsea’s £18 Million Hypochondriac

Footy Factor 18 November @ 09:02 PM EST

Something fishy is going on at Stamford BridgeChelsea's marquee signing of the summer – 18-million-pound-man Yuri Zhirkov -  has yet to play a league game for the club and has played less than a combined 90 minutes for them in all competitions. Ever since his big money move from CSKA Moscow in July, the Russian winger and fullback has been trying to shake off a mysterious rash of injuries that have even baffled club doctors.

Left back troubles ease? + New contract for Eduardo & Sunderland’s inferiority complex

Gunners Today 18 November @ 02:38 PM EST

I was just about to compare our current left back conundrum to the one of the 2005 -2006 season. You know the season where like 9 different players played in that position. And just as I was about to research the names the news came up about Gibbs. Incidentally if you are feeling a little curious, feel free to post the names below of those elite band of players.

EXCLUSIVE-ISH: Silent Stan snaps up nags for RVP miracle cure

Arsenal Insider 18 November @ 07:17 AM EST

by JAMES CURTIS The news this afternoon is that Stan Kroenke has ditched plans to invest in further shares at Arsenal by the end of the month, instead choosing to wait until the new year to take his shareholding to the magic 29.99% figure.

This is because Silent Stan has plunged $1 million into a Montana ranch thought to be 10,000 acres and containing 4,000 horses, in an effort to rear as much placenta as possible after yet another Arsenal player has fallen short to an ankle injury.

Home - Football Perth Blog - Perth Glory News 14 November @ 08:09 PM EST
Morning all, welcome to the blog.
Well, Mile Sterjovski didn't feature for the Socceroos - which in a way is good news, because it means he's injury free for Perth Glory. Seems like a selfish way of looking at things, but meh.
Meanwhile, congrats to the Kiwis for joining the party in South Africa - we couldn't dream about going there without ya. Click to continue reading...

(Now) I Know What You Did (Since) Last Summer

The Offside - Arsenal 13 November @ 03:09 PM EST

Did you ever do that thing where you meet a girl (or guy, if you're one of my female or nontraditional male readers), strike up a conversation, realize she's kind of into you, but then for whatever reason, you decide not to make your move? And then, a couple months or years later, you meet a guy who either is dating her or dated her for a while?

US Footballer Confused by Presence of Sheep On the Road (Video)

Caught Offside 12 November @ 05:40 AM EST

Jozy Altidore is a hot prospect who could hold the key to the future success of the US National team's attacking prowess but it seems that livestock is not an area of expertise. Here is the video he posted on Twitter when he found the road ahead full of cute sheep. It should be noted that the Hull City man has previously been in trouble for using his Twitter account to apologise for arriving late to a Premier League game, hence his amusing reference to hopefully not being made to arrive late for training as a result of these pesky woolly animals.

Memo To Fox: We Want US Commentators For Champions League

EPL Talk 10 November @ 05:20 AM EST

I admit it. I was wrong. When Fox Soccer Channel announced in the Spring that they had acquired the US TV rights to the UEFA Champions League for the next three seasons, I recommended to the EPL Talk readers that Fox should hire the world feed that featured the UEFA commentary team instead of putting Fox's crew behind the mic.

W-League visits Shepparton - why regional games are a great idea

Girls with Game 10 November @ 01:49 AM EST
So in last week's preview I added in a few sentences about just how excellent an idea it was to move a W-League game to Shepparton, citing the 'Canberra effect'. Which is, there isn't much else happening there over summer so why not move women's games to areas where they don't have to compete with men's for attention? Click to continue reading...

The Traditional League?

OK Football Finder 10 November @ 01:00 AM EST

This Sunday was fairly familiar for me. I was sporting a cracking hangover and woke up wondering what happened the previous night. The ‘Big Clash' of the day, as usual, didn't match the hype that it was given. Patrice Evra failed to remember he's a great left-back against Chelsea and an angry Scotsmen made more comments about a referee.

I'm not quite sure where this week has gone. It's absolutely motored past. However, I suspect I drifted along, basking a bit too much in derby delight, and before I could whistle, the Champions League game had been and gone, and Stan Kroenke had hoovered up yet more shares.

We continued our fine form, albeit against what turned out to be the limited AZ.

Champions League Group Stages Finally Getting Interesting

Soccer Tickets Online 05 November @ 03:43 PM EST

It took four rounds of play but the Champions League group stages is finally heating up.

If the group stages finished as they are now, then Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Liverpool would all be playing in the Europa League.

Jose Mourinho and Inter Milan were five minutes away from an 9th consecutive Champions League game without a win, when two late goals not only gave Inter the win, but also propelled them to first place in the group.
