Manchester City moved three points clear at the top of the Premier League thanks to a convincing
3-0 win at home over Fulham.
Heading into the Fulham match a lot of questions were being asked about a City side that had
lost four of their eight matches in 2012, exiting the FA and League Cups and seeing Manchester
United draw level with them on points at the top of the Premier League.

Former Arsenal manager George Graham (1986-1995) said the Gunners starting 11 are good enough to
beat anybody when they're healthy, but once the club has to dip into its squad it struggles. Graham
told James Olley of the London Evening Standard that If the team happens to finish in the top four
this season and makes it to the Champion League it'll be one of Arsene Wenger's greatest
accomplishments.

Alex Ferguson
This past 6th of November marked Sir Alex Ferguson's 25th anniversary since taking charge of
Manchester United. While many managers are fads at other clubs (Chelsea, Real Madrid), Manchester
United have been fortunate enough to have a single manager lead the club to 12 Premier League
titles, five FA Cups, four League Cups, and two Champions League trophies.
Until recently, Liverpool were the most successful English team. Their comprehensive history
includes: 18 top tier English football league titles, 7 FA Cups, 7 League Cups, 5 UEFA Champions
League titles, and 3 UEFA Cups.
The Reds' most successful season was back in the 1983/84 season where they managed to claim a
prestigious treble obtaining the top tier league title, the League Cup, and the European Cup.
After over 12 months out of the game, Martin O'Neill has returned to Premier League management
after signing a three year contract with Sunderland, the team he supported as boy.
For many and certainly for Sunderland fans, it is the perfect appointment, O'Neill has long
since been recognised as one of the great football managers of recent times and has always improved
the standing of any club he has been in charge of.
It's not a particularly new question but in the light of recent Spurs results it's one that's
worth asking once again.
Unless you're lucky enough to remember the great double winning side of 1960/61, you'll probably
recall the trophy winning teams of the last forty years: Four league cups, 3 FA Cups and 2 UEFA
wins with sadly no league triumphs mixed in.
Jordan Henderson is focused on returning Liverpool to Wembley after more than a decade away from
the home of English football.
The Anfield club has not played at the national stadium since losing the 1996 FA Cup final to old
rivals Manchester Unitedcourtesy of Eric Cantona's late goal.
Liverpool has won FA Cups, League Cups and Community Shields in their 15-year Wembley absence, but
all of those successes came at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.
Jamie Carragher is determined to help Liverpool to a first appearance at the new Wembley, but
recognises the Carling Cup represents a significant challenge.
A 2-0 win over Chelsea on Tuesday night booked Kenny Dalglish's team a place in the semi-finals,
where they could meet Manchester City, Cardiff, or Manchester United, if Sir Alex Ferguson's men
overcome Crystal Palace.
Manchester United are the most successful English club of all time. Their comprehensive history
includes: 12 Premier League titles, 11 FA Cups, 4 League Cups, and 3 UEFA Champions League
Cups.
They are also the club to attain the most FA Cups in English football history by winning the
prestigious title a total of 11 times.
A perfect 10. Or an imperfect 10. But I hope you're enjoying this so far.
So @sweirz has set me this challenge on Twitter:
A Scotland international XI made up of players that have never played for the Old Firm. And no
Anglos.
So Scotland players drawn exclusively from non-Old Firm Scottish clubs.
Whenever somebody utters the name of Liverpool Football Club, it's synonymous with great managers
and great players. Over the years Bill Shankly has become an icon but many people forget the
achievements of his successor, Shankly began the dream, but it was none other than Bob Paisley who
ensured it continued.

Did you know it has been 25 years for Sir Alex Ferguson with Manchester United? Fergie became
manager of Manchester United on November 6th, 1986 so last Sunday marked 25 years with the team.
It has been quite a ride for Manchester United in the last quarter century underFerguson's
leadership.
WhenFergusonfirst took over Manchester United in 1986 he had to change the culture from losing
into winning and the playing style from one that was haphazard to one that was more
disciplined.
Reports that Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has opened talks with the club over a new contract
will come as no surprise to the Reds' loyal fans.
Few players command such respect, or hold a position of similar responsibility, at any club around
the World, let alone in England, and it's something that the club's American owners have been quick
to realize.
Speaking in a rare interview, this time for BBC Radio Newcastle's "Total Sport", Alan Pardew has
given his strongest hint yet that he no longer fears relegation, and will go all out for the FA and
League Cups. When he was asked by Total Sport listener, "Liam," on whether going further in the
League Cup [.
The football was nothing to write home about in 2008-2009 but in terms of excitement and nerves,
it was one of the best seasons for years. As usual, we were fighting it out for the title, but this
time it was against our hated rivals, Liverpool.
United were a few matches behind everyone else at the turn of the year after taking time out to
compete in and win the FIFA World Club Cup.

Liverpool legend, Ronnie Whelan has brought out his autobiography: "Walk On: My Life in Red".
Its a very good piece of work, from his humble beginnings in Dublin to having a glittering career
with the Reds from 1979-1994.
During that time he won six League Titles, one European Cup, three League Cups and two FA Cups.
This country's press hailed the decline of Manchester United in 2005. We had last won the league
in 2003, won the FA Cup in 2004, but then finished 3rd and empty handed. Whilst the more optimistic
amongst us claimed we were just in transition, with Sir Alex Ferguson rebuilding our next title
winning team.
George Graham knows a thing or two about winning trophies, and during his time as Arsenal manager
he won the League Title twice, one FA Cup, two League Cups and he also has a UEFA Cup victory on
his CV. So surely there is no better person to comment on the current situation at Arsenal. [...]
Liverpool Premier League 2011-12 team guide
After a huge outlay on new players this summer, Kenny Dalglish is hopeful of a Champions League
place The club We are Liverpool Still the most successful club in the country, la, although they're
having to jump through increasingly elaborate mathematical hoops, and the margin for error is
getting tighter by the season.
Britain's most succesful football cities - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
Football has always thrown up rivalries, mostly between two or more side's that inhabit a city.
Liverpool and Everton, Manchester United and City, Glasgow Rangers and Celtic all are at
loggerheads with each other and are constantly looking for bragging rights in their individual
battles.
It's been a while since anything surfaced here at Aston Villa Central, I know. The last post
confirmed Ashley Young's somewhat low key move to Man Utd and since then very little of substance
has actually happened. Well, the Stewart Downing "situation" has threatened to develop into a
"saga", but aside from a couple of actual bids from Liverpool being reported, nothing has changed
yet; Downing is still an Aston Villa player.
Paul Scholes was one of our few remaining players who was there for the hate-filled contests
with Arsenal, back in the days when they used to win things.
He will have particularly painful memories of those winning days, after it was his penalty miss
during the FA Cup final in 2005 which saw them collect their last piece of silverware.
Liverpool are being linked with a move for ex-Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc, reports the Daily
Mail.
The Polish goalkeeper, currently applying his trade with Fiorentina, earned 79 clean sheets in over
200 matches for the old firm side during a five year spell at Celtic Park.
Boruc left Celtic for Italy to become an understudy to Sebastien Frey and had to wait until
November for his first start for the club.
Manchester United have been missing a special player in the centre of the park for sometime.
Gennaro Gattuso, Michael Essien, Michael Ballack and Mesut Özil are amongst some of the top class
players we've missed out whilst our midfield has gradually deteriorated.
Gone are the days when we could afford to have players of Roy Keane and Paul Scholes' quality in
the team, then still splash £28m on someone like Juan Sebastián Verón.
Guus Hiddink won the FA cup with Chelsea in 2009. Is he the right man for the Blues again?
As Chelsea FC lick their wounds after ending the 2010-11 season empty handed, much speculation
continues as to the identity of the club's new coach following the departure of Carlo Ancelotti.
Much of the current speculation is pointing towards Guus Hiddink which is far from surprising
considering that he led the club to FA Cup success in a caretaker capacity during the 2008-09
season after "Big Phil" Scolari was sacked by the club's owner Roman Abramovitch.
13 years ago today Walter Smith took his leave of Rangers. After season upon season of success his
reign fizzled out.
Wim Jansen led Celtic to the league title, stalling Smith's Rangers on nine championships in a
row.
In Smith's final game Hearts took the Scottish Cup with a 2-1 victory.
Seventeen league titles, five European Cups, seven League Cups and fifteen Manager of the Year
awards. Both adored by their fans, admired by their peers; and despised either end of the M62.
Sir Alex Ferguson and Bob Paisley OBE are undeniably the masters of their trade. Title after
title has been mixed with majestic football and an unerring enjoyment of standing on the sidelines
shouting at some of the worlds' most famous sportsmen.
George Graham wants Arsene Wenger to come out and explain why Arsenal have gone six seasons without
winning a trophy. The former Gunners boss, who guided them to two league titles, one FA Cup, two
League Cups and the European Cup Winners' Cup, in his nine years in charge believes it is time for
some answers.
Bayer Leverkusen defender Sami Hyypia has confirmed he will retire from playing at the end of the
Bundesliga season.
The ex-Liverpool man won a wealth of trophies during his time at Anfield and will take up a
coaching role with Leverkusen next term.
Hyypia, who joined the Reds from Willem II, helped the Merseysiders win the UEFA Champions League,
Uefa Cup, two FA Cups, two League Cups and two European Super Cups during his time at Anfield.
- United have had a higher average attendance than City EVERY SINGLE SEASON since 1947.
- United players have won the European Player of the Year four times (Sir Bobby Charlton, Denis
Law, George Best and Cristiano Ronaldo). City players have won it zero times.
- When City won the league in the 1968, they had the 6th highest attendance in the country.
The year 2011 is set up to be a big one in women's football. The UEFA Women's Champions League
Final will be held at Craven Cottage on May 26. The FIFA Women's World Cup will be held in Germany
and begins on June 26. Last, but not least, the new FA Women's Super League is being launched today
and our very own Arsenal Ladies team will be involved in the opening game.
Gary Neville is a man who hasn't made too many fans outside the confines of Old Trafford, and
particularly over towards the direction of Merseyside, but he is also a man who has been a
fantastic servant over the years for Manchester United. Those who follow the football odds will
know this.
With the club preparing to honour his career with a testimonial at Old Trafford against Italian
giants Juventus, it's sure to be a special night for all involved with the club and all involved
with the development of a man who made his debut at the age of just 17.
Saturday, May 7 promises to be a special occasion for Jamie Carragher.
Barring injury between now and then, Liverpool's trip to Fulham will be the day that the
inspirational defender climbs into second place in the club's all-time appearance list.
Currently level with Ian Rush (660), six more games will enable him to leapfrog another two Anfield
legends in Emlyn Hughes (665) and Ray Clemence (665).
As the Euro 2012 Qualifier between Wales and England this weekend approaches it reminds me of a
great sadness I've always had about Ryan Giggs. Despite winning 64 caps for his native Wales, he's
never appeared at any major international tournament. No World Cup, no European Nations finals. It
just doesn't seem right.
Luke Boden
On the eve of the club's second game, Orlando City has made another signing, midfielder Luke
Boden.
The 22-year-old has made 27 appearances in the Football League, FA Cup, and League Cups after
making his debut with Sheffield Wednesday.
Boden played in Orlando City's 1-0 win over Philadelphia Union on Saturday.
It two weeks time, Manchester City will have to reflect on the 35 years that have gone by since
they last won a trophy. 1976 marks the year when Abba were at the top of the charts with Mama Mia,
the first commercial Concorde flight took off and Rocky was the most popular film at the
pictures.
"Because of its history, Liverpool is a bigger club than Chelsea but it's going through a
difficult time," said Torres. "Chelsea is like Manchester United, the strongest over the
last 10 years."
