Two weeks ago, Lazio defeated AS Roma in the Coppa Italia final at their shared home, the Stadio Olimpico.

Rather than immediately rub the victory into the faces of their fierce Rome rivals, Lazio fans showed the utmost pretend decorum and pseudo-respect by waiting until Saturday to stage a joke funeral procession, complete with play-acting priests and mock mourners.

Unlike the Manchester derby there was no winner in the Eternal City derby as Roma and Lazio drew 1-1 at the Stadio Olimpico.

Hernanes gave Lazio the lead in the 16th minute and he had the chance to double their lead early in the second half when he missed a penalty.

Roma levelled from the penalty spot through Francesco Totti and were given a numerical advantage when Giuseppe Biava was sent off in the 66th minute, but they failed to make the most of the extra man and had to settle for a draw; ultimately a fair result.

It seems that the luck from AS Roma's new "club crest" didn't work out after all! Their rivals Lazio beat bitter city rivals Roma 1-0 to win the Italian Cup on Sunday and simultaneously qualify for next season's UEFA Europa League.

The highlight of the trophy celebration (and if you're a sadist, you'd consider Francesco Totti's crying to be one of them!

Juventus has had an excellent season despite their quarterfinal loss in the Champions League this past weekend. They have beaten many of Europe's best teams and have established themselves as the best team in Italy. However, one task that Juventus has not been able to accomplish is defeating Lazio.

Juventus edged closer to the Serie A title on Monday when they beat Lazio 2-0 to move 11 points clear at the top.

Bayern Munich showed Juventus that they have a bit to go before they can compete with the best sides in Europe, they remain the dominant force in Italian football.

It took Juve only eight minutes to take the lead in Rome.

When one thinks about the historic rivalries of Italian football, the Derby della Madonnina, Inter vs. Milan, and the Derby d'Italia, Inter vs. Juventus, are normally the first two to come to mind. Though both of the aforementioned rivalries have produced tremendous fixtures in the past and feature three of the best teams in Italy, it would be an oversight not to include the Rome Derby, when Roma face Lazio, amongst the top rivalries of the Serie A.

AC Milan's Mario Balotelli, El Shaarawy and French striker M'Baye Niang were pictured trying to "sleep" on a luggage rack on their train from Verona after a 1-0 win over Chievo two weekends ago.

However, yesterday afternoon, the wacky Balotelli decided that climbing on train seats for an optimum sleeping experience wasn't enough.

Roma were held to a 1-1 draw in the recent Derby della Capitale against fierce rivals Lazio, all but ending their hopes of a return to Europe's premier competition.

Despite Roma coming back and leveling things through a Francesco Totti penalty in the second half, it was Lazio who took the lead in the Rome Derby. Brazilian midfielder Hernanes cut back on his gifted left foot from the right side of the pitch and unleashed and absolute screamer into the top corner after just 15 minutes.
