Bolton Wanderers 1-2 Wigan Athletic Premier League 11th February 2012
Roberto Martinez' Wigan side moved to within one point of rivals Bolton on Saturday, after the
Latics secured what could be a pivotal victory at the Reebok.
Wigan manager Roberto Martinez was left furious when Tottenham left-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto was
allowed to remain on the pitch despite a high tackle that forced forward Franco Di Santo out of the
Latics' 3-1 defeat at White Hart Lane.
With his side firmly rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table, the only positive
Martinez could reflect on was the mild nature of Di Santo's injury.

Wigan Athletic 0-1 Manchester City Premier League 16th January 2012
An Edin Dzeko header midway through the first-half was enough to give Manchester City a win at
the DW Stadium on Monday night, a victory that puts them three points clear of rivals Man United at
the top of the table.
Manchester City travel to the DW Stadium tonight where they will hope to take all three points
against Wigan, however with City only picking up two points out their last twelve on offer, nothing
is guaranteed.
MATCH FACTS
Thirty-nine per cent of the goals Wigan have scored have come from outside the penalty area, a

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard put more than two months of frustration behind him to score on his
first start since October as his side beat Oldham 5-1 in the third round of the FA Cup.
After three substitute appearances following recovery from an ankle infection the 31-year-old
finally reclaimed his place in the team and expertly dispatched the penalty which put his side into
a lead they did not surrender despite a valiant effort from their League One opponents.

Anfield Rd: The magic of the FA Cup
Friday night football at Anfield two weeks running with Oldham Athletic the visitors tomorrow
night a week after the Reds beat Newcastle 3-1 in the league. Tomorrow night's match is in the FA
Cup and it's certainly seen as a big game for the side from what used to be Lancashire.
Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is likely to rotate his squad for the game against the League One
Latics.
That could mean recalls for defenders Jamie Carragher and Sebastian Coates, who have not started
since the Carling Cup win at Chelsea in late November.
Striker Luis Suarez serves the second game of an eight-match ban, but captain Steven Gerrard will
probably be given another chance to continue building up his sharpness having made three substitute
appearances following his comeback from an ankle infection.
Paul Dickov insists his Oldham side will look to attack when they chase an FA Cup upset against
Liverpool on Friday night.
A second-round replay victory over Southend at Boundary Park in December booked a mouthwatering
trip to face Kenny Dalglish's side for the Latics, who currently lie 14th in League One.

Manchester 5-0 Wigan Athletic Premier League 26th December 2011
Wigan's recent resurgence took quite a mauling at Old Trafford on Boxing Day, with Dimitar
Berbatov giving Sir Alex Ferguson a timely reminder of his quality in front of goal with a superb
hat-trick.
United are back in full stride, and their game against Wigan at Old Trafford on Boxing Day should
really be a stroll in the park. Bookmakers are not surprisingly offering a best price of just 1.17
about them after impressive victories over QPR and Fulham in their last two games. Victory at
Craven Cottage meant that Sir Alex Ferguson's side have now won all 8 games against bottom-half
opposition this season, and only a brave or madman would back against them making it nine in his
one.
Will Manchester City still top the English league after Christmas?
While the rest of European football shuts down for a well-earned break at Christmas time there
is no such luxury in the United Kingdom. It has long been a traditional within the Home Nations to
continue over the festive period and this season will should see some interesting action.
The lads warm up in Suarez shirts...Liverpool left the DW Stadium
last night with just the one point after a resilient Wigan would not allow anything past them. The
home side also had their fair share of attempts at goal in what was a pretty lively game for a 0-0
draw.
Liverpool started Luis Suarez and i think this was an excellent decision by manager Kenny Dalglish.
No Goals At Wigan

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez was the centre of attention after receiving his eight-match ban but
the Uruguay international cut a frustrated figure as his side were held to a goalless draw at
Wigan.
Perhaps understandably the Reds' top scorer, playing just 24 hours after learning of the lengthy
suspension handed down by the Football Association, faded as the game wore on.

Wigan halted an eight-game losing streak with a 3-3 home draw against Blackburn Rovers a month

Since then, they have lost only one of their past five matches, a 4-0 home reverse to Arsenal
sandwiching 2-1 wins over Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion.

Jordi Gomez claims Wigan will welcome Liverpool to the DW Stadium on Wednesday confident in their
ability to pull off another shock result.
The Latics impressed many observers on Saturday evening as they stunned Chelsea with a dramatic
late show on home soil.

Wigan Athletic 1-1 Chelsea Premier League 17th December 2011
After excellent wins against Valencia in the Champions League and Manchester City in the Premier
League, Chelsea were brought back down to earth with a bump at the DW Stadium against a Wigan side
who fully deserved a share of the points.
A pivotal trip to White Hart Lane is on the holiday horizon. Slow your roll, though. First, we
need to navigate this potentially tricky venture to Greater Manchester on Saturday.

On paper, away to Wigan doesn't appear to be too much trouble.
Jonjo Shelvey hit a brace as Liverpool Reserves cruised to a superb 5-1 success at home to Wigan on
Tuesday afternoon.
The midfielder notched the Reds' first of a one-sided encounter early on before Krisztian Adorjan
and Nathan Eccleston put the hosts well clear inside 20 minutes.
The Latics were stunned but did pull a goal back through Daniel Redmond to give themselves some
hope heading into the interval.

Recent trips to Wigan have been eventful but the memories aren't particularly pleasant for
Gooners. Arsenal have dropped 5 points in the last two visits after conceding late goals in games
that the Gunners dominated and should have won.
I hope the dominance continues but the 'Be a Gooner, be a Giver' mantra is not taken on to the
field.
Nothing seems to be going so right for Sunderland at the moment, The Mackems created several

and the keeper. Featured player Nicklas Bendtner is still finding his feet in his new club, on his

Al-Habsi, who fumbled it and it fell to Swedish midfielder Sebastian Larsson who smashed it in from
close range.

struggling at Chelsea and Blackburn. The hitman netted his fourth of the current season at the
Stadium of Light, double what he had managed in his three previous seasons combined.
