Cheltenham Town 0 – 4 Crewe Alexandra
League 2 - Saturday 31st October 2009
Cheltenham were given a lesson in basic football skills by a well prepared Crewe Alexandra. Dario
Gradi is one of - if not the - longest serving managers in any of the leagues. He sent out a solid
and disciplined side who kept their shape, passed well, defended in strength when needed and made
the most of their opportunities.
Fulham came from two goals down to hold Manchester City to a draw 2-2. This played a spoiler to
City's clean record at home as they have won their last seven games at Eastlands. While the match
saw some tense minutes in the first half, no team could score. Joleon Lescott broke the shackles

University of Denver senior midfielders Mariah Johnston and Kelli Breidenbach combined for the
only goal as the Pioneers shut out North Texas 1-0 on Saturday afternoon at the University of
Denver Soccer Stadium.
In the 20th minute, Johnston dribbled from the right side of the field and fed Breidenbach
inside the box for a one-timer from eight yards.
Robin van Persie now delivering the form that we always knew that he could provide as long as he
stayed fit. With a goal in each of the last seven games he is fast becoming a major threat to
defences in the Premier league and Europe with his quick feet and eye for goal. He lacks only the
perfection of his set pieces to truly become the player who alongside Fabregas can fashion a real
charge at the premiership title.

Why are you celebrating? You lack pace and are prone to senseless bookings
Cheap,
cheap, and in great form. And well, cheap.
That was the story with Sunderland studs throughout most of the fall and the first few months of
the Premier League season.
Darren Bent was a no-brainer from the start of the season (moving over from Tottenham with the
price tag of a 4th choice striker), Michael Turner looked irresistible (moving over from Hull with
a low price tag), and Andy Reid lost a bunch of weight.
After a terrible start to the Superatten, Etchu Tabe and the rest of the American contingent helped
Ljungskile round out the last seven games without a defeat, en route to a ninth place finish.
Prior Lake, MN native Teal Bunbury is having the season of his life, and so are his teammates at
Arkon of Ohio. The Zips are currently undefeated at 20-0-0 in Men's Division I NCAA play.
Last Sunday the Zips defeated Hartwick by a score of 2-1 winning its third consecutive
Mid-American Conference Tournament championship.

19:45 Preston North End v Newcastle Utd, Championship, Sky Sports 1 / HD1
These two sides haven't played each other in the league since 1981. That season, Preston went down
to the old Third Division and if they maintain their current form (one win in their last seven
games), they might just replicate that.

Tim Howard and Everton are struggling, having won only once in their last seven games, but the
anguish of a disappointing season can be eased considerably with a victory in the Merseyside
Derby.
Everton plays host to arch-rival Liverpool on Sunday, and they will need a solid performance out
of Howard and his defense in order to win and avoid falling further near the drop zone.

Is it time for Roman Abromovich to hit the panic button?
Since hammering Arsenal at the Emirates, Chelsea have won only one of their last seven games and
have picked up just six points from their last five Premier League games. With players getting
ready to leave for the African Cup and Michael Essien out injured, Chelsea's wobble is in danger of
turning into a fall.

Chelsea came from behind to beat west-London rivals Fulham 2-1 at Stamford Bridge today to
restore their five-point lead at the top of the Premier League while Spurs moved into fourth after
beating West Ham 2-0.
After a draw at Birmingham on Saturday and wins by title rivals Manchester
United and Arsenal on Sunday the pressure was on Chelsea to win.
