I think a reality check is needed and between us we should try to fathom out what is going wrong at the club. Figures don't lie and we have won just 2 of our last 13 PL games, which would have been inconceivable in February. Fabregas leaving is going to be a huge miss, and though not replaceable like for like we have had the best part of this year knowing he would leave to find another player as a world-class playmaker.

Not much to write about today's game, it was not much of a spectacle but still there were positives to be taken. I sat in the west stand today, behind the tv gantry and close enough to recognise Steve McManaman not too far away working for one of the tv channels.

As I write this, Arsenal Football Club stand on a precipice of doubt, a mountain range of negativity, a continent of discontent.

The tabloids are full of gossip about Cesc as well as Nasri leaving. Most of us know better than to trust any of the red tops, but say it would actually happen. We would get between £50- 60m in the bank, and then what?

Since May Arsenal have inquired after a whole host of players. This may have been the result of the mistakes that were made last summer where we had a few stone wall targets when we failed to bring them in we were left reliant on youth or forced into a panic buy. One of these was Sebastian Squillaci.

The media made a big fuss when Liverpool secured the signing of Jordan Henderson for a fee in the region of £20M from Sunderland. Some people even questioned whether Arsenal had been left behind in this deal. Arsenal fans remained silent, not out of shock at missing out on a good player, but because we all knew we had at least three British players on our books better than Henderson.

The Football League has announced the final shortlists ahead of The Football League Awards 2011 with the release of the nominations for the npower Player of the Year in each division, The Football League Young Player of the Year and EA SPORTS Outstanding Team Performance awards.

So here we are in the midst of another interlull, just when we didn't need it.

I say 'just when we didn't need it', but I'm pretty sure I say that every time one rears its ugly head. And who knows after shipping four goals on Saturday, maybe a week away blasting the cobwebs away with international football is precisely what is required.

Today's pre-match is difficult to write following RockyLives' fine and controversial post on Monday. In his post he covered many of the subjects I would have chosen to write about, in particular, the changing face of Man City.

I have been swayed by some of the articulate arguments raised by the City fans who came onto the site and expressed themselves so eloquently perhaps they are not just a rich man's foible.
