Juninho proved to be a handful for most MLS sides in 2011. (Getty Images)
I said a few weeks (or maybe just a couple weeks) back that the biggest thing that the LA Galaxy
needed to replace this winter was Juninho.
Well, what better way to replace him than with him.
The LA Galaxy announced on Tuesday that the club has reached an agreement with Brazilian club
São Paulo FC that will allow midfielder Juninho to return to the Galaxy on loan for the 2012 MLS
season.
So the soon-to-be MLS season is, believe it or not, fast approaching. Seems like just yesterday we
were watching Landon and Becks engage in an epic bro-embrace. Wistful days, those. But upon is the
longest MLS season ever undertaken, a startling five weeks hence. As somebody who still considers
soccer a cold-weather sport, there's not a lot about 100+ degree mid-July games that entices me,
but
So yes, it's Landon v Clint in about two hours. Press pass sets the scene, but let's not forget Tim
Howard also exists. Deuce has only hit off him once and that was consolation in a losing cause.-

A budding Prem player?
Edson Buddle set for a trial with Everton. Good move all around.
Buddle was going nowhere with Ingolstadt and neither was Ingolstadt. In fact, he was a
liability in the compensation department.
The former Galaxy man didn't get secured at West ham and now moves on to Everton looking to go
for a ride (either on the pine or the pitch) until the end of the campaign.
Wednesday:
• Tim Bolton
Wheater: No Rafa...
Reports say that Tim Bolton deal is etched.
Ream will battle former Middlesborough phenom David Wheater for playing time at Bolton with
Wheater getting the first call obviously to replace The Overrated Gary Cahill.
While English observers are foaming at the mouth Homer Simpson-style over the Liverpool v
Manchester United clash drawn in the FA Cup fourth round. All us Ameri-nuts, however, get the tingle
from a different tourney match-up set for the end of the month: Everton v Fulham, otherwise known
in our bubble as the first ever EPL edition of Landon v Deuce.
Almost game time...
TSG's MLS Cup Final Preview, right here.
Still several hours away from tip off.
Toe-to-toe they go for the big price, Houston's Dynamo and the Los Angeles Galaxy for the season
ultimate prize, the Supporter's Shield MLS Cup.
Rain is all over the forecast and you have to believe despite squirmy Calen Carr's ability to
squirt through a backline that is favors Los Angeles.

Robbie Keane is looking is to cap off one of the best weeks of his career with a championship.
Keane led Ireland qualify for their first appearance at the European Championships on Tuesday
with a convincing playoff victory over Estonia. Now, the Irish striker will look to cap off his
impressive week with an MLS Cup title when his Los Angeles Galaxy take on the Houston Dynamo on
Sunday.
The Professor was right, this time. Houston Dynamo upset Sporting Kansas City 2-0 on the road to
earn the right to travel to the Home Depot Center on November 20 to face the mighty Los Angeles
Galaxy in the MLS Cup final. The Galaxy destroyed Real Salt Lake 3-1 to move one step closer to
total league domination this season.

As NSC regulars know, I always reveal my US Player of the Year ballot once it's in. Well... it's

Their Words It was an honor and I take my role as a Vice-Captain very seriously, so it was nice
that it worked out for my last game and it ended perfect. I was going to be it anyway because
Landon is that type of guy, he does the right thing and he wanted me to wear it no matter what.
LA's Gregg Berhalter.
Supporters Shield
It may not be much to look at. It may not be as meaningful as the cup. But once again, it is
ours. With Seattle's loss to San Jose the Galaxy have clinched the MLS Supporters Shield for the
second year in a row. In simple terms, that means they won the league by securing more regular
season points than any other team (with two games to spare!
Orange Slices! USA vs. Costa Rica
Orange Slices is our game day, catch-all post that we update throughout the day and also
serves as the place for you to drop comments like, "I can't believe Klinsmann started 12
midfielders from the Primera!".
Three games.
Happy Friday to you! This past week saw some interesting happenings in Major League Soccer, not the
least of which was New York actually winning a game... against the LA Galaxy no less. We also saw
Real Salt Lake fall to the Vancouver Whitecaps and Seattle became three time champions of the US
Open Cup.
Here are your U.S. starters for tonight's match against Costa Rica:
1- Tim Howard
2- Timmy Chandler
3-Edgar Castillo
4- Michael Orozco
5-Carlos Bocanegra
6-Maurice Edu
7-Robbie Rogers
8-Jose Torres
9-Jozy Altidore
10-Landon Donovan
11-Brek Shea
Some quick thoughts on Klinsmann's debut as USMNT coach Wednesday night, against Mexico in
Philly:
1) I liked how the jerseys were stripped of names, and numbers were somewhat "randomly"
assigned. The message is something I loved doing when I coached: every spot is up for grabs, no one
is assured anything.
Finally, US Soccer coach Jurgen Klinsmann released his first-ever US national team roster as he
called in 22 players to face Mexico on Aug. 10 in Philadelphia.
First the roster, then some thoughts.
Goalkeepers: Bill Hamid, Tim Howard
Defenders: Carlos Bocanegra, Edgar Castillo, Timmy Chandler, Steve Cherundolo, Clarence Goodson,
Michael Orozco Fiscal, Heath Pearce, Tim Ream
Midfielders: Kyle Beckerman, Michael Bradley, Ricardo Clark, Maurice Edu, Jermaine Jones, Brek
Shea, Jose Torres
Forwards: Freddy Adu, Juan Agudelo, DaMarcus Beasley, Edson Buddle, Landon Donovan
Surprises: Perhaps the biggest surprise on here is Bill Hamid, the young DC United 'keeper.
Vehr Factor at Show-Me Soccer
Vehr Factor, a U7 Ozark based team, attended the Show-Me Games in Columbia, MO July 23 &24. The
team was coached by Chris Vehr and Brett Ulrich. The team played in 100+ degree weather with a
victory over three teams (all shut outs) and 0-0 tie. This is the second tournament the team has
played in this summer and their second 1st place victory!
The Philadelphia Union have been very good defensively. But their success has masked a real lack
of proven depth on the back line. Both Farfan brothers and Keon Daniel have deputized on the
outside while Sheanon Williams had to slide into the middle when Califf couldn't go in
Portland.
The depth issue is why reaction to the Jordan Harvey trade has been a strange mix of "whatev,"
"how could they," and "he wasn't great but he was a real left back.
1. Bob Bradley's lineup will look a lot like the one we saw against Panama, with a couple of
exceptions. While it would be ideal to start Clint Dempsey up top, the decision is really between
Juan Agudelo and Sacha Kljestan. Since Sacha had a fairly bad game against Panama, we're going to
say Juan gets the nod.
Mexico scored four unanswered goals to defeat the USA by a score of 4-2 in the final of the 2011
CONCACAF Gold Cup. El Tri's sixth regional title sees the team qualify for the 2013 FIFA
Confederations Cup in Brazil. The USA had gone up 2-0 with goals from Michael Bradley in the 8th
and Landon [...
Both the US and Mexico tried to make it suspenseful, but it looks like Jack Warner managed to rig
the final to get the most - really? Oh.
Hey, how come we never heard of this Adu kid before? Where's he been all this time?
Wednesday night's game was a pleasant non-surprise for the US.
FATHER'S DAY WITH THE USMNT - a one act play
_____________
Hey, Mike. Got a second?
Sure, Dad. What's up?
I'm gonna make a few changes in the lineup.
Oh.
No, you're still starting. It's just - I'm making some big changes.
Here are some quotes from media availability at today's training session for a look what the

Clint Dempsey took a few minutes to answer these fan questions.
On Friday, we took fan questions for the players on Twitter @ussoccer. We caught up with Clint
Dempsey last night after training for these answers.
@tellrodt: "ask Clint or Landon how they handle this FL heat N humidity we
have.
One of Landon's standout performances in his career came here in Tampa back in 2007 when he poured
in three as the U.S. handed Ecuador a 3-1 defeat at Raymond James Stadium. His first was less than
a minute in, and the last an absolute cracker. That win marked the first of several achievements
for U.
It's been a week since I last updated. My bad; school gets in the way. Still, a good deal of
stuff happened in my absence. Here's your round up of all the topics I should have written articles
on:
Injuries: The most unfortunate part of this is that injuries was
pluralized.
Just a quick note to tide me over til morning.
Toronto looked shaky at the start but found some style and looked more and more coherent as the
game wore on. I think JDG had one of his better games in a Toronto uniform tonight. The pairing
with Tony Tchani seems to be a promising one.
Chad did not score, but he came very close.

Apparently our Landon has been D-Town down this week and has worked the Super Bowl party scene like
a total and complete champion. Dude's been spotted all over town at everything from the Playboy
party to Direct TV's Celebrity Beach Bowl. The shot above was from Pepsi's party (which was,
tragically, DJed by Pauly D.
