Liverpool midfielder Jay Spearing will not be joining Burnley on loan when the window re-opens for
clubs in the Football League.
The young midfielder, who gained a handful of first team opportunities at Liverpool under Kenny
Dalglish last term, has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield after a handful of arrivals in the
transfer window.

According to the Lancashire Telegraph, Schalke's asking price of £10 million for a full
transfer of the U.S. international midfielder is too high for Blackburn, and the club is resigned
to moving on without him.

to permanently sign Blackburn goalkeeper Frank Fielding, whose
loan with Derby expires soon. Derby boss Nigel Clough said,
"We knew at the time Frank could not complete the season, but it was important to get him in for
these games obviously with a view to trying to secure a deal in the summer on a permanent
basis.
According to Chris Flanagan at the Lancashire Telegraph, the agent of
Panathinaikos striker Djibril Cisse admitted that there has been
no interest from Blackburn for the 29-year-old.
There have been rumors that Cisse could leave on a free transfer this summer as he is unhappy at

Blackburn striker El Hadji Diouf anymore as Blackburn are now
asking for a transfer fee for his services. Diouf's agent Willie McKay said,

Blackburn, in their relentless search for a 'marquee' signing, have reportedly been offered the
services of Boca Juniors stalwart (and light of legendary Gol TV commentator Ray Hudson's
life) Juan Roman Riquelme on the cheap.
Riquelme's agent Barry McIntosh (you can almost smell the pinstripes) told the Lancashire

"I have spoken with (middle man) Jerome Anderson, who is doing a lot of work for Blackburn
Rovers, about a deal for Riquelme and it is being thought about.

Blackburn defender Michel Salgado admitted that he would like to
sign a new deal with the club.
With Sebastian Squillaci injured and Thomas Vermaelen suffering yet another setback in training
as he tries to come back from his chronic achillies problem, it is looking increasingly likely that
the manager will have to dip into the January market to sign a center-back.
The manager has been looking at center-backs for over 12 months now, last January Sol Campbell
came back on a short-term deal and the option to re-sign him was there in the summer, but Arsenal
delayed and Sol went off to Newcastle he now wants out of there.
