A little respite before the storm I suppose. But, not really.
The U10 lads have their final regular season game before play-offs - if they win tomorrow morning they'll be seeded 6th going into the post season.
Sunday morning at 9 is the final training session with the Thanksgiving Tournament Team, and then at 12:00 noon is the start of the Dinamo Recruitment Session at Griffith Park - and the launch of the Women's Team. Click to continue reading...

The Great Old
Belgium finally has its very own galactico, no really. This week, their PM Herman van Rompuy romped to victory in the race to become President of the European Council. So how to celebrate this historic moment here on EFW!? Well, I thought we'd blow the cobwebs off our Belgian history books and delve deeper into this wonderful country. Click to continue reading...

Unhappy Kuwaitis?

Jakarta Casual 18 November @ 11:17 PM EST
I understand it is normal at the end of AFC games for both teams to line up at the end of the game in the centre circle and shake hands with their opponents and match officials. Last night Kuwait didn't, preferring to slink off down the tunnel.
All in all I don't think the Kuwaitis will look back on their Jakarta trip with a great deal of fondness. Click to continue reading...

The decisive moment is only a few hours away – Will France be going to the World Cup?

France World Cup Team Blog 18 November @ 11:37 AM EST

Anybody else feeling edgy?

I'm getting a little tired of reading that this France side aren't "a spot" on the 1998-2000 side. Time for the lads to debunk that nasty sentiment; and a masterclass today would be a good start.

Join Laurie on this site later today (she's never missed a match before, and I wouldn't expect her to start now) for a bit of pre -, during -, and post-match banter (and ranting and raving).

RVP will be horsing around to try to get fit quick

Arsenal Insider 17 November @ 03:27 AM EST

by CARL ELDRIDGEÂ Straight into it this morning my fellow Arsenalistas and news that Robin van Persie wants a Serbian housewife to massage placenta fluid into his injured ankle in bid to return to action for Arsenal within a month, reports the Daily Mail.

The paper says RVP flies to Belgrade today with Arsene Wenger's approval to seek out the services of a mysterious woman who works from home and claims her unorthodox remedy can drastically speed up recovery times.

I'm probably bereft of any Albion supporting credit nowadays. With the non-league coverage on these pages coupled with the European stuff something had to give. Unfortunately, it was my 30 year association with The Seagulls and my £400 quid season ticket in that athletics stadium. Click to continue reading...

DTotD: Now he knows English?

Dirty Tackle 16 November @ 02:19 AM EST

Two years ago, when he was still playing for Chelsea, Lassana Diarra would rather would rather flee in terror than speak English and now he's apparently going out of his way to insult the Irish in the frightening language.

After France won the first leg of their World Cup qualifying playoff 1-0 over Ireland on Saturday, Diarra allegedly went up to the home side's Keith Andrews and made an insulting comment that was so bad Andrews refused to reveal what it was:

"I don't want to say exactly what he said, but he knows what it was, which was a disrespectful comment and it was typical of him, to be honest, and the way that he was.

Friday night and we're on our second LAPL game in 5 days, back at Crossroads we're 2-0 down to Penmar at half-time. We're really not concentrating, or working anything like as hard as we need to, and though we're a couple of first-choicers light (Nick, Jeff, Mike, David, Theo all out) credit to Penmar - they capitalize. Evans: We Don’t Play-Act But We Still Have To Beat Ref

Republik Of Mancunia 13 November @ 04:15 PM EST

Jonny Evans has reiterated the comments of other United players and fans in claiming that big decisions have gone against us so far this season.

"We are usually quite good with referees," Evans said. "I think there are a lot of teams that do a lot of play-acting, but I don't think that's the case with Manchester United.

Injury situation at Liverpool

My Anfield 11 November @ 05:27 AM EST
We lack the squad depth to cope with injuries to several key players at the same time. So it looks like the international break has arrived at the right time to allow some of them to recover.
Riera & Benayoun both picked up hamstring injuries against Birmingham. Agger & Johnson both pulled out of their international squads so they can get treatment on minor injuries. Click to continue reading...

knocks and missed pens, ups and downs

Dinamo & everything else 10 November @ 07:50 PM EST
So there was the Hollywood United game and all the anticipation that went with it, and we did brilliantly to draw 1-1, with Anthony LaPaglia having the game of his life in goal for Hollywood - and them unleashing the hounds of their 'A' team against us in the second half when they were 1-0 down.
It was quite a high really, as we enjoyed a couple in The Daily Pint afterwards. Click to continue reading...

Johnson - Reds Record Awful

Anfield Talk 10 November @ 02:59 PM EST
Glen Johnson believes Liverpool must stick together to bring an 'awful' sequence of results to an end.
The Reds had to come from 2-1 down to hold Birmingham to a draw on Monday night in a match at Anfield they were firm favourites to win.
Rafa Benitez's men have picked up just one victory in their last nine matches in all competitions, while they remain 11 points adrift of Premier League leaders Chelsea and are in danger of being knocked out of the UEFA Champions League. Click to continue reading...

Reaction to the Chelsea defeat

Red Rants 09 November @ 01:43 PM EST

United will go into the international break ruing, what could have been, a draw (even, to the optimists, a win). Prior to the game, whilst I predicted a 1-1 draw, a nagging feeling told me a defeat to Chelsea was a perfectly possible and in a parallel universe, even deserving, given our recent form and I had my mind made up preparing for the worst.

Indonesia v Singapore AFC Under 19

Jakarta Casual 07 November @ 03:05 AM EST
Small but raucous crowd at the Jalak Harupat Stadium, something the Singaporean players will be used to. Well, the small crowd anyway!

3' - bright start by Indonesia with their #9 going close with a header
This is the first chance most of us have had to see the lads who have spent the last couple of years in Uruguay

Daniel Agger Wants Liverpool To Find Self-Belief Ahead Of Birmingham City Clash

Anfield Talk 06 November @ 12:44 PM EST

Liverpool defender Daniel Agger is taking heart from the Reds' positive performance against Olympique Lyonnais this week, despite the disappointing result – a 1-1 draw placed the Merseysiders' hopes of progress in the Champions League in severe doubt.
"You get what you deserve in football and you have to look at closing the game down otherwise you get punished in the way we did in Lyon," he told the club's official website.

Lets Hope This Trend Doesn't Catch on in MLS

Ooh la la!

Leave it to those Italians.

Juventus' Paolo De Ceglie, left, and Giorgio Chiellini, right, not only gave their shirts to fans in the wake of the Italian club's 1-0 victory over Maccabi Haifa in Israel Tuesday, but their shorts, too. (AP Photo).

I offer this picture not so much so we can ogle Italian bums (although my wife, ahem, begs to differ), but as a vivid reminder that the UEFA Champions League is on again today.

And yet even after a hard win against Malaga the fans complain.

Derek Llambias: “We Really Don’t Want to Rename St. James’s Parkâ€

The Journal today published an article with quotes attributed to none other than our favorite cockney geezer, Derek Llambias.

With most sane Newcastle fans venting fury at the clubs efforts to sell naming rights to St. James's Park next season, the club appear to be trying to alleviate some of the damage.

Harry Redknapp blazes a new trail with Reserve League Rejection

EPL Talk 31 October @ 06:57 PM EST

Genius or Madness?

The Premier Reserve League is a valuable resource for clubs in the Premiership. Each club in the Premier League is able to play in the top league against the reserve clubs from other members of the top flight. It offers teams a chance to give fringe players a run out and give players returning from injury, a competitive environment in order to integrate them to game shape.

Guzan And Beasley Back In Action

USSoccerPlayers 28 October @ 08:00 AM EST
Cup time in Britain, and Brad Guzan took over for Brad Friedel in goal for Aston Villa. They beat Sunderland on penalties after drawing 0-0.
