David Beckham is not heading to Paris, but it is not a certainty that he will be returning to
the Los Angeles Galaxy just yet, at least according to AEG President Tim Leiweke.
Word came from Paris early on Tuesday morning from officials of Paris St.
According to a story that broke in the Los Angeles Times on Tuesday evening, the Galaxy are set
to announce a 10 year, $55 million deal with two new Time Warner Regional Sports networks to
televise Galaxy games. The new networks (one in Spanish and the other in English) are fighting
for content in the crowded LA Sports market and this deal guarantees live programming from March to
October.

Danny Califf and Sebastien Le Toux both agree that the hope among the players is that there will
not be as much player movement in the closed season. Le Toux said, "I hope with the good result we
got this year, we'll get most of the guys back and move on and continue.

LA soccer original: The Times' Grahame L. Jones in his natural habitat - The Home Depot
Center press box.
I sat next to long-time LA Times soccer reporter Grahame L. Jones in the press box at Galaxy,
Chivas USA and assorted other soccer games for the last decade or so of his almost four decade-long
career.
Their Words "The old sea dog, having broken his anchor chain, has hopped on a rusty freighter and
set off for the open sea. Celebrate his freedom, for he is one happy sailor." quote from Emaharg
Senoj used by Grahame L. Jones in his email announcing he's retiring from the LA Times where he's
worked since 1971.
Grahame Jones has retired from the LA Times and sent a final email to the staff.
I didn't have the privilege to work with Jones at the paper (the late, great Jim Murray did), but
Grahame nevertheless always made me feel like a co-worker and fellow soccer writer the moment I
stepped into the pressbox in 2004.

Their Words The president of the federation will meet with the coach this week. He is maybe the top
contender. Egypt press officer Azmi Megahed, on Bob Bradley potentially becoming their National
Team coach. Other Sources Bruce Arena weighs in on Juergen Klinsmann coaching national team - from
The LA Times' Lisa Dillman: "I think if they can get over the hump there, they're going to be fine.

The last time the Union met Chicago, Michael Farfan's farfantastic goal from a Kyle Nakazawa
free kick was eclipsed only by a Carlos Ruiz wonderstrike for a 2–1 win. Ruiz is now gone and
Marfan is the prime candidate to fill in for the suspended Sheanon Williams at right back.
(It was either that or "Deutsch Treat." Did I choose wisely?)
I've written before about Jürgen Klinsmann's reputation outstripping his
actual resume, but the time for all that talk is over now that Klinsmann is, officially, the 35th
head man in the history of the US National Team.

Their Words Well, you got a guy coming in on Wednesday who's certainly been doing it for a long

After spotting him in the pressbox, I was curious about what LA Times writer Bill Plaschke would
write about - given that he hasn't shown much interest or knowledge about soccer in the past.
Here's his take.
Kevin Baxter wrote on the match itself, but his piece didn't contain his joke about Chuck Blazer's
resemblance to Fat Bastard from the Austin Powers films.

Via the LA Times comes a statement from Bob Bradley that he is considering coaching the 2012 US
Olympic team himself.
"It is, it just has to fit with
everything that we do," he said. "The reason that it is [appealing] is that we've put a lot of time
into trying to connect our different teams, and any chance to work with players [before] you get
them with the full team, that's important.
I've written a lot on this blog about the woeful state of most newspaper soccer coverage,
particularly in North America, but I've generally treated it as a fact of life like the rising of
the sun and the running of the deer. This practice is, ironically, a glaring example of bad
football journalism. Mea culpa.
