Valencia squeezed through to the next round of Copa del Ray after drawing 2-2 at home to local
side Alcoyano, progressing with a 3-2 aggregate win. The Primera Division side had led through
goals by Carlos Marchena and Nikola Zigic but after Victor Curto pulled one back, Alexis' sending
off paved the way for Carpio to level the scores on the night.

It was a rare week in La Liga becasue Barca did not win. Don't get too excited because they
did not lose either. But you have to hand it to Osasuna. They have played as well as anyone
recently and they gave the treble winners a battle 1-1 leaving the door open for clubs to move up
the board a few points.

That's right La Liga fans! It is Halloween weekend and you know what that means, right? It's
the time of year that everyone can enjoy eating candy, scaring the crap out of one another, and
if you're female you can dress in any revealing outfit that you want to! Look at this fine young
lady ( I don't think she really went to nursing school).

Real Madrid-Getafe
What is going on with Real Madrid? With three losses in their last five matches I guess they
really do miss this Cristiano Ronaldo guy. Real will look to bounce back from their terrible loss
earlier in the week to a squad I have never heard of, Alcorcon, but if Real Madrid continues to
play like they did against this third tier squad then it could feel a lot longer then a few weeks
without their key star player.

Atletico Madrid has struggled for positive results all this season. Well they will be kicking
themselves once again as they had a match in perfect position against Mallorca in extra time. The
squad achieved the draw though with a goal in the remaining minutes from Mallorca 1-1. Sevilla
proved once again to be an outstanding defensive minded squad against Espanyol.

(video gol: Getafe-Barcellona)

It's always tough picking games at the beginning of the season because you never know who will
be the surprise squads this year and what teams will disappoint.Â
But with that being said my first week of picks was not too bad. Finishing 4-3 (I remove ties)
in the first week let's see this week's predictions.

Todays game was a breath taking spectacle of gorgeous spanish football.
The passing was superb.
The attack was lethal.

Well the first week of the Primera Division has wrapped up and now it's time to reflect on the
debut matches of the year. Real Madrid was given the honor of kicking off the 2009 season and
the club did not disappoint in their first match. The club beat Deportivo La Coruna by less then
expected 3-2, but Ronaldo scored his first goal on a penalty and Diarra showed a rare offensive
flair by scoring the winning goal in the second half.

The game was a little boring and regular but at least it's a win, the best part was chillin' with
the NYC MADRIDISTAS as we welcomed a few new faces and smoked a few Honduran cigars at
halftime.
Real Madrid defeated Deportivo La Coruna 3-2 in typical workmanlike fashion. That MADRIDISTA
flowing futbol swagger is still not there, but let's give them time.

With J Hutcherson -- Good for Toronto if they want to make the bold move and try outbidding Europe
for the services of a player who is open about wanting to stay in Europe. That would be Julian De
Guzman, who is leaving Deportivo La Coruna for somewhere after finishing the Gold Cup with Canada.
That the player himself has pushed down expectations that he'll take Toronto's money isn't as
important as the idea that.

to play in a fantastic gesture to the cash strapped club and any much needed money raised will be
kept by Real Sociedad.

I couldn't update regularly in last couple of days. But it looks like there was not much of
development about Barca in Transfer Market. But the biggest news in Transfer Market as today is a
reported 50 million bid for Valencia striker Villa. Valencia is reported to be asking for more but
there is a high chance of Barca beating Real madrid to his signature.

As planned, the team went out to share one final meal together as the final note of what has been
an extraordinary season. After drawing 1-1 with Deportivo, they gathered at the Reef restaraunt in
La Coruna and feasted on seafood, before calling it a night.
That is, all except for Albert Jorquera, staff member Pepe Costa, and party animal Gerard Pique
who, apparently, won't let anything, not even the muscle tear he'd just picked up at the match, get
in the way of his partying.
