Persik v Persiwa 3-0

Jakarta Casual 22 November @ 04:51 AM EST
Following their 5-4 defeat last week against Persebaya the Papuan side nicknamed the Highlanders made keeper Timothius Mote the scapegoat, dropping him and bringing in Gery Mandigir. But the spikey haired keeper was all at sea for the first 25 minutes and it was down to prro finishing that Persik only led by a goal to nil at half time. Click to continue reading...

Persiba v Persija 2-0

Jakarta Casual 21 November @ 05:23 AM EST
Persija went into this game minus Bambang Pamungkas and Mustafic Faruddin. They came out of it with first choice keeper Yasri injured and questions about a defence that went missing.
Mustafic wasn't that much of a miss anyway. They just bypassed midfield. I saw Carresco walk on the field. I saw him substituted on 51' but I never saw him in between. Click to continue reading...

Oman 1 v Socceroos 2 - luck

A seat at the A-League 14 November @ 06:58 PM EST
Well Mark Schwarzer made our luck, even saving the 14th minute penalty to be beaten on the rebound. Bad luck to Rhys Williams being forced into a foul to give the penalty. But otherwise Oman botched 4 or so goals - just played too fast for their skill level. Criag Moore was lucky not to have given away a second half hand ball penalty. Click to continue reading...

"As transferências não se pautam apenas pelo factor económico: se eu ganho, eles ganham mais. Era acusado pelos invejosos e pelos críticos de futebol: de merda fazia omeletas de ouro. Isto porquê? Is Pim interested in the Asia Cup?

Football in the Capital 13 August @ 02:11 AM EST
Pim put out a third rank team for the Asian Cup game in Canberra recently. Insulted Archie Thompson prior to the game, and you have to wonder at Verbeek's motives.
The team that took the field against Ireland, a friendly on a FIFA date, had Jade North flying in from Asia and all basis covered. Click to continue reading...

Pim Verbeek: Ireland closer than Australia?

Football in the Capital 10 August @ 05:28 PM EST
So Jade North and his Asian mates couldn't fly in for an Asian Cup Qualifier v Kuwait in Canberra in March, and Australia lost as a result.
But he can head to Limerick.
And anyone knows there are no direct flights to Ireland from Korea or any other Asian city. Everyone has to fly through Heathrow or Europe, and then travel down fron Dublin to Limerick. Click to continue reading...

I'm not sure of the status of the friendlies against Malaysia and China which were scheduled for next month but the Indonesian FA are still looking at preparing the national team for the sian Cup qualifying ties against Kuwait in November.
There is a good chance they will play Saudi Arabia at the end of August while a game against Syria is being pencilled in for early November. Click to continue reading...

Canberra: Socceroos beat Wallabies?

Football in the Capital 13 June @ 10:17 PM EST
Neither code could sell-out Canberra Stadium for their respective international clashes in the Capital, although I'm giving the Socceroos a slight victory in the crowd analysis stakes.
22,000 for the Wallabies is a very healthy crowd, but with over ten years of professional rugby in Canberra, almost 10,000 Brumbies season ticket holders, a network of email addresses, and regular home S14 crowds of 13,000- 22,000, plus they were playing against a Six nations side in Italy, add in the Giteau and Canberra based stars element. 40,000 to cheer Socceroos tonight

Football in the Capital 09 June @ 06:45 PM EST
40,000 people are expected to show there support for the triumphant Socceroos.
What does this say?
Bahrain can't pull much of a crowd, and the Socceroos should be playing the lower tier nations at smaller 50,000 capacity stadiums until the game grows futher in Australia.
England, Germany and some other countries would pull in more than 40,000 having qualified but the game is slightly bigger in those countries. Click to continue reading...
