Apparently we are not the only ones who like to mock Manchester United players for their for poor clothing choices. Rio Ferdinand put his sartorial nous on the line in the United dressing room this week, donning a rather alarming coat type affair belonging to 'one of the goalkeepers' and tempting fellow Twitter users with a prize if they could guess who it belonged to.

Well, the only real surprises are Gibbs coming in for Clichy not sure if it's because of injury (he's not on the bench, either) or because Clichy isn't in the best run of form, but I'm not too worried about that Gibbs has been quite good for the most part this season and will do fine.

This season has been one of workmanship, a season where Manchester United have been less entertaining than normal and more anchored, not hitting the breathtaking heights of previous incarnations, but getting the job done nonetheless.

Surprising it may seem that we are still unbeaten in the Premier League, and if history is anything to go by this record will stay intact for another week at least as Tottenham Hotspur haven't triumphed over United for just less than ten years.

Since United officially signed 26-year-old Danish goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard on January 6th. It has put the number two spot, soon to be number one spot, up for grabs.

Kuszczak has been waiting for this opportunity since 2007, and says he is ready to succeed Van der Sar, but I'm not sure he is too confident based on his interview with the Manchester evening news.

Tomasz Kuszczak has revealed that he has plans to replace Edwin Van der Sar at the end of the season as Manchester United's number one.

"I know I have not got the biggest name in the world but, and I don't want this to sound arrogant, I think I am good enough," he said. "I have talked to the boss a few times and he said we will see what happens at the end of the season and I know that in the meantime if I get a chance I have to play well because that is the only way I am going to impress him.

Speculation is rife at the moment about the burning question of who will be the next goalkeeper of Manchester United after Edwin Van Der Sar eventually hangs up his gloves at the end of this season.

I'm still sort of hoping he won't. VDS is still at his very best, and there are only a handful of goalkeepers at the moment that are anything like as good as him.

Old Trafford hosted the midweek Premier League duel between Manchester United and visiting Stoke City. United have been soaring, tied with crosstown City with two games in hand, and they haven't experienced a defeat this season. Stoke had won two of the last three matches and started the day in 8th place, looking to prove themselves against the league leaders.

The last time Manchester United suffered a defeat on New Years day back was back in 1996, against Spurs at White Heart Lane. This time it was Rooney who would lead the Red Devils. Rooney who has had a rocky start to the season, to say the least would finally get his first goal from open play since last March!

Wayne Rooney ended his open field goal scoring drought when he headed home from a Patrice Evra cross. It looked so anti-climactic after all that media space devoted to this phenomenon. But West Brom answered back in spectacular fashion through James Morrison's lashing drive that dipped in to beat Tomasz Kuszczak.
