We had none of last night's drama in the Champions League as both Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain progressed as expected into the quarter-finals.
In Turin, Juventus beat an outclassed Celtic side 2-0 on the night and 5-0 on aggregate.
Any hopes that the thousands of Celtic fans in the stadium had of a miracle comeback ended after 24 minutes when Alessandro Matril prodded home a parried Fabio Quagliarella strike.
The UEFA Champions League swung back into action last night, with goals galore from Tuesday night's matches.
Italian leaders Juventus soundly defeated Scotland giants Celtic 3-0 in front of a raucous crowd at Parkhead, leaving Neil Lennon to proclaim that only a miracle would allow his side to advance to the next round.
Celtic, the darlings of the Champions League this season and reason for Rod Stewart's tears, will play Juventus in the round of 16. For some, facing theformidableItalian champions might be cause for quiet focus, but for Celtic's Kris Commons, it's just a chance to make jokes about Rangers being in the Scottish Third Division.
At the top level there is a fine line between winning and losing. The best teams don't make silly defensive mistakes that gift goals to the opposition, while they clinically taken advantage of any mistakes the opposition make.
And that is what happened in Glasgow tonight as Juventus punished Celtic for every mistake they made and ran out winners 3-0.

Since mid-December, the football world has been anxiously awaiting the onset of the Champions League Round of 16, especially Neil Lennon and his Celtic side. The Scottish champions likely enter their clash as the underdogs, and will look to prove a point to Italian giants Juventus.
Celtic defeated Spartak Moscow 2-1 at home to progress to the Champions League Round of 16 in thrilling fashion as Benfica, needing to match the Bhoys' result, drew goalless at Barcelona, who had already won the group.
Unlike their win over Barca with a similar scoreline a few weeks ago, this one was not as special a performance but nevertheless, it was a job well done as Neil Lennon's men punished two defensive errors from the visiting Russian outfit.
A foreign bloke in branded leisurewear having a smoke outside Glasgow's Radisson can only mean one thing.
There's a football team in town and one of the coaches is plotting the downfall of some of our brave boys while looking as effortlessly cool as it's possible to look while indulging in a pastime that runs the very real risk of setting his Adidas training gear alight.
It must be pretty easy being a Celtic player right now. With the league title in the bag before a
ball was even kicked (I'm not being presumptuous, look at the odds), it gives them time to play

This is how Celtic pranksters Kris Commons, Joe Ledley and Scott Brown spent their Wednesday;
covering misfiring striker Mohamed Bangura's Audi in hundreds of Post-It notes after the dud
Senegalese forward was shipped back out on loan to former club AIK until Christmas earlier in the
week.
Spirits are high at Celtic, where they've already won the next few seasons worth of Scottish
Premier League titles and on Wednesday, booked a place in the Champions League group stage. In
fact, these early successes have come so easy that the players had the time to cover teammate
Mohamed Bangura's Audi in Post-It notes.
The SPL is back. Games have been played, points have been won. Hibs fans have been depressed all
over again.
Robbie Devine takes a look at the weekend:
Saturday August 4 2012 saw the start of a new experiment in world football, the kick off for a top
tier championship in which the race for the runner-up spot is the main aim for the majority of
sides rather than the mounting of a championship challenge.
Celtic had a rather comfortable 3-0 home win over rivals
Rangers in the SPL today with Gary Hooper grabbing a brace and Kris Commons making
his home debut finishing the rout.
These games are usually tight and feisty but today it was rather a stroll for the Celts, the win
puts them 8 points clear of Rangers at the top of the SPL, however Rangers have two games less
played than their rivals.
Celtic have out muscled rivals Rangers in the transfer market
for the signing of Scotland and Derby striker Kris Commons.
Rangers had initially made enquiries for the striker but couldn't match the Celts spending power
in thr transfer market with an offer believed to be £300,000 for the striker.
It must be pretty easy being a Celtic player right now. With the league title in the bag before a
ball was even kicked (I'm not being presumptuous, look at the odds), it gives them time to play
some elaborate pranks on their team mates. Joe Ledley and Kris Commons have both seemingly used
their [...]
Hibernian, Aberdeen, and Motherwell all won on the road in the Scottish Premier League on August
18, 2012. The other results include Ross County holding Celtic to a draw and Inverness with a
second half comeback at Hearts.
Ross County 1-1 Celtic
The home side took an early second half lead before Celtic's Kris Commons leveled in stoppage
time.
While the absence of Rangers FC may be hard to fathom, the Scottish Premier League nevertheless
got underway on Saturday as all twelve teams were in action on the first weekend of the SPL
season.
Celtic, now heavy favorites in Scotland with their rivals banished to the fourth division,
opened their 2012-13 campaign with a win as a 79th minute goal from Kris Commons was enough for a
1-0 victory over Aberdeen.
Celtic edged Aberdeen, Hearts blanked St Johnstone, and three other matches ended in draws in
the Scottish Premier League on August 4, 2012.
Celtic 1-0 Aberdeen
The defending SPL champions started the season on a high note with a victory at Celtic Park. The
lone goal of the match, scored by Kris Commons, was a bit lucky as it fumbled by the goalkeeper and
should have been saved.
Gems of the Lower Leagues: Danny Graham is a post from: Just Football
Just Football's 'Gems of the Lower Leagues' series continues now with a
look at the Championship striker currently banging in the goals for Watford. Making his JF debut,
we welcome James McMath:
Danny Graham is the Championship's joint top-scorer and an integral part of a
Watford team whose attacking prowess has seen them make an unlikely challenge for
promotion.
Kris Commons took just five minutes to open his Celtic account with a goal in
his teams 4-1 demolition of Aberdeen in the CIS Insurance Cup Semi-Finals.

Yesterday morning I got a phone-call that caused a bit of a rumble in the household. My mother, our
babysitter, was ill and couldn't look after the boy. One of us was going to miss the biggest home
game of the season. The match against the Sheep from down the A 5-2 [...]

Great goal from Kris Commons last night as Derby "18th in the Championship" County beat
Manchester "Club World Cup holders" Utd 1-0 in the Carling Cup semi-final first leg last
night. Great night for incoming Derby manager Nigel Clough too, who watched from the stands. I
watched the game with my dad, who was delighted with [.
Personally, I think the weekend of the FA Cup Third Round is the most exciting weekend of the
English Football campaign. The one weekend where all sixty-four teams are equal and the weekend
where it doesn't matter how strong your squad it, it's a matter of wanting it more than your
opposition...regardless of the gulf [.

If Alejandro Bedoya and Helsingborg are to reach the UEFA Champions League group stage, they'll
need to pull off an inspired road performance.
The Swedish champions conceded a second-minute goal to Kris Commons that set the tone for
Celtic's 2-0 victory in the first leg of their final qualifying round tie, one that happened on
Helsingborg's home ground.
Kris Commons pulled a fast one on the photographers gathered outside the club's training ground,
turning up in a neck brace and bandages after rumours spread on Twitter recently of a nasty, but
sadly non-existent, bust-up in the Celtic ranks.
Some classic moments happened in the third round of the FA Cup this year. The Big Three
of the North East got knocked out in hilarious fashion amongst others, but it was during Crawley's
win over Derby that I saw the best moment...
