Arsenal's transfer window: Big changes at the Emirates for second summer in a row - originally
posted on Soccerlens.com
The Emirates Stadium's revolving door continued to swing this summer, as Arsenal looked to sign
attacking quality but also sold two of their most impressive performers from last season.
If you wanted to know where the goals were going to come for Arsenal in the post RVP world, then
this was not the match to provide those answers. Sunderland packed it in the second half and the
best chance fell to Oliver Giroud with all the dimensions in the world at his disposal after Santi
Cazorla's brilliant pass found him but he shanked the ball.
The German youth international Serge Gnabry came to Arsenal with a huge reputation when he arrived
from Stuttgart last summer and he settled quickly, scoring six goals in eight games for the
U18′s. He was quickly moved up to the reserves and made another six appearances which persuaded
Arsene Wenger that he could rise just [.
Koln v Arsenal Second Half Analysis by KJ The second half of the match against Koln saw a mass
change of personell by Wenger with two of the new signings taking to the bench. This was the new
Arsenal line-up Szczesny Jenkinson... Djourou... Koscielny... Santos Song... Diaby Arshavin
Gervinho... Podolski.
Arsenal 4-0 Cologne by KJ What a great match it was yesterday. We managed to get a win with some
great performances by our new signings. As there were two completely different teams in each half I
will analyse each one separately. The match started off with this line-up: Manonne
Yennaris....Mertesacker.
The Arsenal manager saw his reinforced team comfortably beat Koln 4-0 yesterday, and in his
post-match comments he was obviously asked what the latest news on the transfer of Robin Van
Persie. Last week Sir Alex Ferguson admitted that Man United had made a bid for the Arsenal
captain, but had been told that the [.

Wenger Set To Decide On Arshavin by AH Andrey Arshavin will be given one last chance to impress
Arséne Wenger tonight, before a decision is made on the Russian's future. It's understood that
Wenger wishes to keep Arshavin as a squad player. It's also worth noticing Arshavin's ability to
play in a number of positions, [.
Arsenal vs Cologne preview with starting line-up and predicted score! by KJ Today we've finally got
an Arsenal game on our hands. What makes this more special than a usual preseason game are: - We
will finally have the opportunity to see our 3 new signings (Giroud, Podolski and Cazorla) in an
Arsenal shirt and [.
The CF Malaga man is finally a Gunner. And he's losing no time talking about his ambitions to
see Arsenal end a long drought without silverware. Cazorla seems to have come to the Emirates with
the right attitude. His statement should earn many more fans.
"There's a very good squad here and we want to fight for titles and win titles.
The Reds are so desperate to get rid of Andy Carroll that Fenway Sporting Group's cable TV
network, NESN jumped the gun by announcing Clint Dempsey's signing on their website. Liverpool it
read had, "added Clint Dempsey to a team that game (sic) within a game of winning the FA
Cup."
Fulham completely denied the story saying Liverpool made no such offer and Clint Dempsey was not
for sale.
Relegation is something like a breakup: most fans don't take it well, but the ones who knew they
were punching above their weight anyway walk away with solemn graciousness and heaps of gratitude.
Fans of Koln fall into the former.
In the midst of a spiral to the depths of the Bundesliga.
Everyone in the media seems certain that the Koln striker Lukas Podolski is going to be Arsenal's
first acquisition of this summer's transfer window, but it being reported today that the Gunners
are also interested in signing the Borussia Dorthund hitman Robert Lewandowski. The Polish
international has had a great season for Dortmund, scoring 20 [.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hinted of a major change in his transfer market strategy by
saying that he might use his entire transfer kitty on a few world class players instead of just
buying talented youngsters like he usually does.
While he rubbished media reports that he has already wrapped up the signing of German
international Lukas Podolski from FC Koln, he did admit that he will be loosening up his purse
strings in the next transfer window if any high-quality players become available in the market.
There has been plenty of news this past week following Arsenals impressive win over AC Milan.
We were so close to pulling off what before the match started seemed like an almost impossible
task of scoring five goals without a goal from Milan in order to progress into the last eight.
The first half was edge of the chair excitement I have not seen Arsenal play as well as that all
season, it was truly fantastic, and on that kind of form they could beat any team in the world.
Arsene Wenger has refused to confirm that a deal has been agreed between Koln and Arsenal for the
arrival of Lukas Podolski in the summer, but he was happy to point out the reasons why the German
international would fit perfectly into the Arsenal team. "He can play for us because he can play
central, [.
The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admitted that he's one of Lukas Podolski's admirers, but also
stated that there was no agreement between Arsenal and the German striker so far. Arsenal has been
linked with the German international hitman since the end of last summer, but despite the intense
interest a move was not made real [.
It looks all but confirmed by the Arsenal website. We are always sceptical because of that fact but
the likes of Bild (reliable German newspaper), Times (reliable English newspaper), Sky Sports
(decently reliable), BBC Sports (reliable) have all confirmed such a signing and you must think
‘Surely it's true'.
Visual confirmation of the qualities the newest Arsenal signing brings to the team. Poldi also
brings a heroic song to the Emirates that Gunners will be sure to learn soon.
It is being widely reported that arsenal have settled a deal with Koln to sign their prolific
striker Lukas Podolski, and even the BBC and the Guardian have reported it so I am very inclined to
think it is true. At 10.9 million Pounds it certainly looks like Arsene Wenger could have got
himself yet [.
The much anticipated on and then off and then on again transfer finally takes place as Lukas
Podolksi is set to join the Gunners this summer on a £10.9m transfer move. Bild had gotten scent
of the striker's desire to move from Koln, his present club, which crystallized in the last few
days.
The web was alive yesterday with the Arsenal transfer rumour that Koln's superstriker Lukas
Podolski has already agreed in principle to move to Arsenal next season, and at least one
ex-Germany star is tipping him to improve even further under Wenger in the Premiership. The
legendary Germany striker Olivier Bierhof, who scored 37 goals in [.
quite the feast of stories going on this morning. Makes a change from the quietness of some of
the summer days. I guess we'll chop 'em up, add some broth, throw them in a pot with some
vegetables, and baby we got ourselves a stew there.
We'll start with the fact that many of our players have gone away on international duty.
Morning all, it's a gloomy Monday here but the countdown to the new season has well and truly
begun now.
We played our final warm-up game yesterday, running out 4-0 winners over FC Koln and in truth we
could have had plenty more than four. We've talked a lot this summer about Steve Bould and the
potential changes he'd make to the defensive side of our game, but the first goal had his
fingerprints all over it.
So the team traveled to Germany yesterday for a training camp, which will culminate in a game
against FC Koln on Sunday, and there were, reportedly, some interesting voyagers.
Both the BBC and the Mirror report that Santi Cazorla has made the trip which tells you the deal
is done and dusted, even if it hasn't been announced yet.
Morning all, it's a bank holiday here in Ireland and given the dearth of Arsenal related news
this morning it might as well be a bank holiday everywhere else.
Yet here it would be impossible to send a bank transfer to say, oh, Malaga, to a football club
for one of their players. Which is a shame.

Coach Arsene Wenger is keen to sign Russia's in-form attacking midfielder

goal scoring exploits.

10 Cracking Own Goals - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
Scoring an own goal is soul-destroying, confidence-shattering and altogether demoralising. If
you deflect a shot into your own net, convert a cross past your own goalkeeper or get the last
touch before your team concedes it is frustrating and annoying, but these ten are just down right
embarrassing.
Hi everyone. Regular readers of the blog should remember 'Bobby' and the marvellous piece he
wrote about the North London Derby a few weeks back. Well, Bobby gets to go to a fair amount of
Bundesliga matches, and he recently attended the Koln vs. Hoffenheim match in which Lukas Podolski
took part.
