I've seen some hand-wringing and questions as to how Liverpool were lined up yesterday, especially
in the second half.
I tried to explain the set-up and the reasons for it in yesterday's match review, but pictures
always make things easier. Not a 1000 words easier, but easier nonetheless.
Monday Bullets:
• And then they were even....
Kolarov, for City, with a tackle on Nani here...and a free kick goal there...
Yesterdays 3-2 Manchester United over Manchester City FA Cup win was a sidewinder of drama. City
control the run of play, United score.
Let's face it, yesterday's Manchester derby was awful. Yes, there were goals and a spirited
second-half fightback from City after an understandably poor first-half display.
But the game was ruined as a fair contest by Chris Foy and Wayne Rooney in the eleventh minute.
Anyone who knows the rules of football intimately will understand that Foy's decision to send off
City captain Vincent Kompany for his tackle on Nani was plainly wrong.

The FA Cup has lost some of its prestige with the rise of the Premier League but Sunday's clash
between Manchester United and Manchester City was a glimpse at the drama knockout competitions can
provide in a 3-2 win for United.
United were up by three goals before halftime thanks to two goals from Wayne Rooney and a
stunning strike from Danny Welbeck.

Well. That was all rather exciting wasn't it? Manchester United rushed into a three-nil lead
against 10-man City at the Etihad in the third round of the FA Cup at the Etihad yesterday
afternoon, only to have the frighteners put on them when City rallied and pulled two goals back
during an intense second half.

Yes, again.
John Terry's BFF, Wayne Bridge rumoured to be on Wenger's radar
A bridge to nowhere. With Thomas Vermaelen out with a calf strain, there is officially no left
back specialist left on the Arsenal senior roster. In the match Wenger subbed off Vermaelen
replacing him with Francis Coquelin who looked a bit suspect when tracking back but looked in his
element pushing up the channel.
Having a footballer that thinks more about money more than playing seems to irritate Manchester
City's manager, Roberto Mancini, who publicly suggested those who didn't have a place in his team
to accept playing at other teams, despite having lower payment.
The player that Mancini refer to is Wayne Bridge, who have been rejecting several offers in the
summer and continue staying at City despite not being considered as part of the first team
member.

Having just suffered their first defeat in the league against Chelsea last Monday, another
important challenge must be faced by Manchester City this weekend as an in-form Arsenal are coming
to Etihad stadium.
Despite the difficulty of the upcoming match, City's manager, Roberto Mancini apparently isn't
worrying that much especially since they have a big boost with the potential return of Micah
Richards for this Sunday.
Cool T? Surely not
Arsenal failed to qualify for the semi finals of the Carling Cup after a 1-0 defeat at home to
the moneybags of the Premier League. $amir Na$ri was jeered and booed throughout. Just after 5
minutes before the whole stadium was standing because "stand up if you hate Na$ri" was the song
doing the rounds.
This is a tough one to call. Arsenal are very strong at home in the Carling Cup the last eight
games ending in wins with a cumulative score of 23-3. On the other hand, City are probably the only
club that can put out a second-string side that would not look far out of place in the
Premiership.
For the visitors, Dzeko, Adam Johnson, Nigel De Jong, Kolo Toure, Kolarov, Zabaleta, Savic, and
even Hargreaves might get a start.
Downing and Hendo return for LFC v Man City
Today's game between Liverpool and Manchester City at Anfield will be played amidst much sadness
following the news that Gary Speed had died this morning at the age of 42. Speed was Craig
Bellamy's manager at Wales and played for Kenny Dalglish at Newcastle.
Squad sheets: Liverpool v Manchester City
It should be harder for Liverpool and virtually every other club in England to keep pace with
Manchester City. Nonetheless, Roberto Mancini's side can be in no doubt about the hunger they
inspire in the opposition. City, indeed, are in trouble in the Champions League now because Napoli
rose to the occasion on Tuesday.

Still basking in the afterglow of last Sunday's victory, it's ever so tempting to suggest Liverpool
should play the exact same line-up as against Chelsea.

You may have missed it, but earlier today what seemed like a normal Man City training session
soon spiralled into an epic battle for the future of all human kind...
"Sweet Jesus Christi I'm a bit cold around the ear regions...hang on.
Their fifth straight victory and a 5 point lead. Goals from Edin Dzeko, Aleksandar Kolarov and
Adam Johnson made it 36 goals for Man City in their first 10 games.Levante's miracle run in the La

Bob Mancini was the first to admit that Man City were 'lucky' to register their first ever
Champions League victory over Villarreal yesterday evening, with substitute Sergio Aguero's 94th
minute goal plundering a come-from-behind win over the Spaniards at the death thus snaring a vital
three-point haul that puts City back in the running to emerge from Group A, despite things looking
a little bleak as the clock ticked over to '93:00′ at the Etihad last night.

Manchester City FC's Champions League hopes seemed to over when Sergio Agüero stepped up and
scored the virtually the last kick of the game to give Roberto Mancini's side an unlikey 2-1
victory over Villarreal. City's victory takes them on to four points, one behind second-placed
Napoli in Group A, while after a third defeat Villarreal need a miracle when the teams reconvene in
Spain on 2 November.
Champions League action resumes tomorrow with some very interesting fixtures. Real Madrid host
Lyon at the Bernabeu while Napoli travel to Munich to face in form Bundesliga champions Bayern
Munich.
However, the match that could prove decisive in Group A will be between EPL leaders Manchester
City and Spanish side Villarreal.
As Carlos Tevez awaits further action from his club, new reports emerging claim that he had an
altercation with team mate Alexander Kolarov that led to averbal exchange between the two where
Kolarov called Tevez and idiot.
It is true that Tevez's actions were rather foolish and unbecoming and although everyone is
right in thinking this, it still does not give anyone the right to speak their mind.
The third round of Carling Cup continues on Wednesday night and some memorable moments occurred
on the day especially for Manchester City fans as they witnessed the return of injury plagued Owen
Hargreaves, who made a memorable comeback with a special goal.
The ex Manchester United player's goal helped his team to beat the Cup's defending Champion,
Birmingham City, a result which was followed by other top premiership sides, Liverpool and Chelsea,
who were victorious as well.

Spotted during Man City's game against Napoli last night, a tubby City fan horribly mistimes his
'Poznan' celebration after Aleksandar Kolarov's equaliser...
Awkward. Love how the misfiring buffoon tries to rope his son in too!

In the words of Roberto Mancini, Man City looked decidedly 'nervous' throughout their maiden
Champions League outing against Napoli at the Etihad last night, going behind in the 67th minute
when Edinson Cavani swept home through Joe Hart's pins after the Italians rushed City with an
impulsive three-pronged counter-attack.
Manchester United and Manchester City started their UEFA Champions League campaigns with 1-1
draws against Benfica and Napoli, respectively.
Both Manchester sides have maintained a perfect record in the Barclays Premier League so far
this season but unfamiliar opposition had them trailing before they equalized and settled for a
point each.
Don't panic! City's super strikeforce will come good in Europe
Perhaps the most surprising thing about the reduced attendance at Eastlands last night, was that
people weren't desperate to see this City side. Ignoring the team on the pitch for a second, the
list of players in reserve would be enough to get the fans of most Premier League teams
excited.

It is fact that the gap between the "haves" and "have nots" in European football grows evermore
larger. Last season in the English Premier League proved this adroitly when Manchester City
midfielder Yaya Toure reportedly earned more per week than the entire Blackpool squad.

Manchester City have signed their second defender this week, as they have announced that Stefan
Savic has completed his transfer from Partizan Belgrade for around £6 million.
Savic, who had a 10-day trial with the Gunners last year, has signed a four-year contract at
Eastlands.
"I watch the Premier League all the time and I know it's the place to be, so I am looking
forward to helping this club achieve great things," said Savic.
