The Revs talk about Gershon Koffie's injury.

Since being traded from the Vancouver Whitecaps on February 11, Gershon Koffie has become a key cog for the New England Revolution. The midfielder is more than numbers on the score sheet—though he has those too with three assists on the year—as he's constantly breaking up plays and making smart passes.

Koffie has a "near perfect night" against Toronto FC

The New England Revolution welcomed back Gershon Koffie on Saturday night and the midfielder certainly impressed.

Despite only playing five games for the New England Revolution, Gershon Koffie has already established himself as one of the most important players on the team.

Positioned next to Scott Caldwell in the midfield, Koffie was given the difficult task of tracking Toronto FC's all-star attack, a lineup that includes Sebastian Giovinco, Jozy Altidore, and Michael Bradley.

MLS 2012, Week 9: Power Rankings

A lot of moving this week in the Power Rankings. The four tiers are starting to fill out a little differently than in the previous weeks.

The top tier gained a team while the second tier lost two sides (though they did gain a couple newbies as well). The bottom tier is still a total mess. Teams 13-18 are just a toss up and I totally understand any argument for anyone being higher/lower than they currently are.

Vancouver 1 - New England 1

You can't blame Vancouver for thinking they'd overcome a scenario of their own making at Empire Field on Wednesday night. Vancouver's Gershon Koffie was shown a red card in the 44th minute only for the Whitecaps to open the scoring from the penalty spot in the 55th. Eric Hassli celebrated his short-handed goal by taking off his shirt, earning him a second yellow card and an early exit.

[Editor's Note: Another great tactics post by Earl. Front page'd]

Just because you play an offensive tactic doesn't mean that offense ensues.

That was the theme Saturday, as Philadelphia struggled through the first half against a physical bunch from Vancouver. Fortunately for the Union, the Whitecaps couldn't maintain their composure, and their loss of manpower on the pitch contributed to a 1-0 Union victory and an early Eastern Conference lead.
