An interesting article in the Courier Mail on Monday. The story was that some Roar directors
regretted not accepting FFA help at the beginning of the season. The reason given for the regret
was that the FFA would have been able to control Frank Farina via a director of football - and
stopped poor player behaviour.

After South Florida's red hot performance on Friday night, beating Austin Peay 6-0, the Bulls went
ice cold on Sunday against UCF. USF has had trouble scoring goals this season except in their rout
of Austin Peay and against the Knights, they had difficulty even getting a shot on goal. The Bulls
had just four on the day and only one was on goal.

Although the majority of the plaudits after last night's Gold Coast v. Sydney encounter will
naturally go to Shane Smeltz, there was another Gold Coast player whose reputation will have been
considerably enhanced. I refer to Zenon Caravella.
It's a pleasure to see such a positive, resourceful player back in the A-League, and Miron Bleiberg
deserves credit for his canny recruitment of the former Sydney Olympic and New Zealand Knights
midfielder.

Yesterday I attended two soccer games. The first one cost me a total of $11 (two Gatorades and $4
match fees), the latter about $90. The first was very much a community event, the latter was
distant and relatively alienating. The latter was better quality, but not by that much in many
ways, and it certainly wasn't a philharmonic orchestra.

The Falcons, who gave up two goals in the first 9 minutes this evening, were not able to overcome
