Springfield, MO- The First Round of the High School Girls Championships starts tomorrow. MSHSAA has the championship brackets set for all three classes.

Springfield, MO A Glendale-Kickapoo soccer game is always guaranteed to be full of excitement. These cross town rivals metWednesday nightat Glendale High School. The Lady Falcons emerged with the victory,2-0.

After the pre-game jitters had subsided, Glendale began to control the pace and flow of the game.

The Monett Lady Cubs played intheir first game ever, and lost to Carthage 0-6.

Ismael Serratos and Aaron Strunk with Johnny Adame, Neosho County Panthers

The Neosho County Panthers have announced the signing of a pair of Southwest Missouri players. Ismael Serratos of Carthage and Aaron Strunk from Kickapoo are a pair of forwards that also play together for Springfield SC, winning State Cup as U16′s and reaching the Midwest Regional semifinals in 2011.

Springfield, MO The 2012 Class 3 Southwest region team has been released.

The Road to the Final 4 wraps up Saturday. The Chiefs fans, as well as the Irish, should not be left hanging offering a clean sweep for area teams if things play out as anticipated. With Rolla and Carthage both regular visitors to this site, the sentimental choice would be for Mike Howard at Rolla to return for the first time since 1993.

Springfield, MO The Kickapoo Chiefs soccer team left no questions unanswered tonight as they finished Glendale off 4-1. Both teams started the game off showing the tension of the moment as they chopped the ball back in forth in the middle half of the field.

Springfield, MO On Tuesday night, the cross town rivalryof Glendale and Kickapoo will be in action once more as they meet in the State Soccer Sectional, replaying the Southside Derby for the second time this year. Glendale enters the game with a 16-6 record and Kickapoo a 21-3 record.

Joplin, MO The Kickapoo Chiefs came into last night's match looking to prove a point. They had the day off from school as the Springfield Public School system was on break. Several of the players meet for lunch together before heading west for the match. The day gave them time to focus on the job at hand.

Springfield, MO The Kickapoo Chiefs had a plate full on Tuesday night as they hosted the visiting Carthage Tigers. It was Senior night for Kickapoo as they celebrated the time thirteen of their boys had spent playing soccer for them.

For the first time ever, all teams are ranked coming into the weekend. The participants include #1 Chaminade and #4 CBC from the St Louis area. #6 Rockhurst from Kansas City and from Southwest Missouri #7 Kickapoo. The hosts Jefferson City Jays jumped into the Top Ten with this weeks poll at #9 and rounding out the tournament is Blue Valley Northwest, the top ranked team in Kansas in all classes and #1 in class 6.

For the first time ever, all teams are ranked coming into the weekend. Turner Adams, Kickapoo Chiefs, clears the ball & the player

There isn't a bigger rivalry in the region.

With Kickapoo's loss last night to Joplin, covered only by the Joplin Globe but NOT the News-Leader or the Ozarks Sports Zone (FAIL), the adrenaline will be running high. Kickapoo just became the #2 seed in District 12 but more importantly now rely on Rolla to beat Joplin on October 23rd to have any chance at the Ozark Conference title.

The 2012 Ozark Conference title will likely be decided Tuesday when Joplin visits Kickapoo. The two teams are undefeated in the Conference and if they needed additional incentive, the game will also establish the top seed for the Class 3 District 12 tournament.

Joplin has a high-powered offense that will meet a strong, physical challenge in the Chiefs defense, led in the back by Turner Adams and Mac Hoogeveen (pictured) and several goalkeepers already.

The Gateway City Soccer Classic wrapped up yesterday and I got to see a couple of good games featuring top local squads. It was part of nine games I covered during the three day event so I'll be adding additional photos and game reports over the next 24 hours. I'll leave you with this appetizer before I head out for a College game today.

What ESPN HS has called the premier Midwestern High School tournament, the 2012 Gateway City Soccer Classic will feature 62 teams this year from across the United States. Included in that list are eight teams from Central and Southwest Missouri that will battle for a Final 4 spot in late October.

Rivalries come and go, but the Glendale Kickapoo rivalry will live on forever. A spirited crowd met tonight to cheer, as the Falcons took on the Chiefs at Kickapoo High School.

The intensity of this game could be felt from the first touch on the ball.
