LeBron James is halfway to his first championship ring. In a game that featured a ton of missed
perimeter shots, the Miami Heat defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder by a final score of 91-85.
LeBron led the way with 29 points and 14 rebounds for the Heat, who now lead the series 2-1.
The defending NBA champion Dallas Mavericks were able to beat the Oklahoma City Thunder last
year in the playoffs. It looked like the Mavs were going to beat the Thunder in Game 1 on Saturday
night. However, that was until Kevin Durant hit a shot to once again prove he's one of the best
players in the NBA.
This is a fascinating matchup between the defending champion Dallas Mavericks and the Oklahoma
City Thunder, a team many believe will end up winning this year's championship. What will win out?
Will it be veteran experience or that youthful talent?
While I think the Mavs will play better in the postseason than they did in the regular season,
the Thunder just have too much talent.
The young guns in Oklahoma City continue to show they are the team to beat in the Western
Conference. On Thursday, the Thunder traveled to Los Angeles for another test against the Lakers.
The result? A 102-93 victory to move eight games ahead of the third place Lakers.
The Thunder were led by Russell Westbrook's 36 points.
Kevin Love is normally known for his ferocious rebounding. On Saturday night during the 2012 NBA
Three-Point Shootout, Kevin Love showed off another one of his skills: his outside shot. The
forward for the Minnesota Timberwolves took on some of the best shooters in the game and walked
away as the 2012 Three-Point Shootout champion.
Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook are considered two of the best players in the NBA. On Sunday
night, they showed the world why. The pair of superstars for the Oklahoma City Thunder combined for
91 points as the Thunder toppled the Denver Nuggets by a final score of 124-118.
Durant had 51 points on 19-of-28 shooting from the floor.
Even though the 2011-12 NBA season is less than a week old, we are already seeing the cream
starting to rise to the top. Some teams are surprisingly bad, while a number of teams are better
than pundits projected. So which ten teams are the best teams in the NBA?
After the Oklahoma City Thunder were eliminated last year in the playoffs, the talk surrounding
the team was concerning how well Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook could coexist. While Westbrook
is a talented point guard, he's also a player who looks to score first and that doesn't mesh well
with Durant, who is arguably the NBA's best scorer.
The Oklahoma City Thunder were on the verge of tying the 2011 Western Conference Finals.
However, with about five minutes to go in regulation, the Thunder's youth showed ... as did the
Dallas Mavericks' veteran mettle. After the game went to overtime, the Mavs continued to dominate
on their way to a 112-105 victory.
I've always thought Russell Westbrook was overrated. In the 2011 Western Conference Finals, the
All-Star point guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder is being outed as a fraud. Yeah, he's a good
player but he's far from the up-and-coming superstar he's made out to be. In fact, Russell
Westbrook isn't even really a point guard.
The Dallas Mavericks could do no wrong early on. Leading by as many as 23 points in Game 3 of
the 2011 Western Conference Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder, it appeared as if the Mavs
would coast to a victory. However, the Thunder rallied late making it a four-point game in the
final period before the Mavs were able to hang on for a 93-87 win.
As the Thunder were beating the Mavs in Game 2, there was an unmistakable play of the game.
Kevin Durant's dunk on Brendan Haywood wasn't just the dunk of the night, it was Durant's best dunk
of his career. You gotta watch the Kevin Durant dunk video below! The dunk is stupid sick.

As the video begins, Kevin Durant gets the ball and is defended by Peja Stojakovic.
After Game 1 of the 2011 Western Conference Finals, everyone was talking about Dirk Nowitzki.
Quietly, what nobody cared to admit was that the Dallas Mavericks needed a career night out of Dirk
simply to edge the Oklahoma City Thunder. In Game 2, the Thunder held Dirk in check and took home a
106-100 victory to tie the series, 1-1.
Dirk Nowitzki is one of the best shooting bigmen of all-time. On Tuesday night, Nowitzki might
have cemented himself as the absolute best. In Game 1 of the 2011 NBA Finals, the German superstar
poured in 48 points on only 15 field goal attempts as the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Oklahoma
City Thunder by a final score of 121-112.
Who will win in the second round matchup between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Memphis
Grizzlies? This matchup features two of the best young and coming teams in the NBA. The Thunder
have arguably the brightest future of any team in the league, while the Grizzlies' fantastic youth
was on full display as they dispatched the San Antonio Spurs in their first round upset.
How do you play starting swingman/small forward on the best team in the NBA and not get more
consideration for Rookie of the Year? The vote for this year's ROY proves it's just a political
exercise to try and make stars.
Two point guards were ahead of Kawhi Leonard, Ricky Rubio of Minnesota got second place and Kyrie
Irving of Cleveland won the award.
Anthony Davis is going to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft. His Kentucky team is
in the Final Four and, to top it off, he just got named as the Player of the Year in men's college
basketball. It's safe to say that times are good for Anthony Davis right now.
Kobe Bryant has always wanted to be just like Michael Jordan. On Sunday during the 2012 NBA
All-Star Game, Kobe Bryant surpassed Michael Jordan. With his 27 points, Kobe Bryant now has 271
career points in All-Star games. Jordan previously held the record at 262 points.
On his way to passing Jordan in the record books, Kobe also passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Oscar
Robertson who had 251 points and 246 points, respectively.
The Chicago Bulls had an outstanding season and may end up with the best regular season record, but
they don't have any clear leader to their season. Incredibly, their season was defined by role
players and not by Derrick Rose, who missed many games due to injury.
In one of the highest scoring basketball games you'll ever see, the Western Conference topped
the Eastern Conference in the 2012 NBA All-Star Game on Sunday night by a final score of 152-149.
After the West got out to an 88-69 halftime lead, it looked like they were going to coast to a
victory. However, the East made a run and forced the West to sweat down the stretch.
We've taken a look at the best teams in the NBA and the worst teams in the NBA. Now let's take a
look at the individual awards, starting with the NBA Most Valuable Player award. Here are the early
favorites for the 2012 MVP Award.
1. Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City Thunder
During the lockout, Kevin Durant was busy balling all around the country.
The NBA lockout is getting serious. According to multiple sources, David Stern and Dwyane Wade
got in a fight during Friday's negotiating session. Wade was apparently felt disrespected after
Stern pointed at him and responded by yelling at the commissioner.
After the incident, Wade and other players were going to leave the negotiations.
This time of year, we're used to watching NBA preseason action. However, with the NBA lockout
putting things on hold, we'll have to settle for exhibition games of another sort. But there's an
interesting one being put together that will take place on the campus of Florida International
University on October 8th.
A sign that a man is in love? When he'll go purse shopping with you. That's exactly what LeBron
James was caught doing recently. As you can see in the pictures below, LeBron James is purse
shopping with his girlfriend Savannah.
LeBron has plenty of time to shop for purses these days due to the NBA lockout.
Kevin Durant poured in 59 points in an exhibition game in which he went against fellow NBA stars
including LeBron James, Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony. However, Durant, who was representing the
Goodman League of Washington D.C., lost to the Melo League squad, a team representing
With 4,000 fans watching at the Morgan State University gym, everyone saw a great show.
Besiktas, the basketball team in Turkey that signed Deron Williams earlier in the summer, is now
negotiating with Kevin Durant. While Besiktas is still trying to sign Kobe Bryant, it appears as if
Kevin Durant is their fallback option. And by the sounds of it, the two sides could very well agree
to a contract soon.
Earlier this year, Kevin Durant called Jimmer Fredette the best scorer on the planet. Coming
from perhaps the best scorer in the NBA, that's quite a compliment. On Friday, Jimmer Fredette
helped prove Kevin Durant's point. Against the New Mexico Lobos, the sweet shooting guard led the
BYU Cougars to a 87-76 victory with 52 points.
Street ballers are pretty good. But there's a reason they are on the street and NBA players are
in the NBA. Kevin Durant at Rucker Park proved that again yesterday. Kevin Durant scored 66 points
at Rucker Park and was especially unstoppable in the fourth quarter.
Look below to watch the Kevin Durant at Rucker Park video.
A handful of NBA players have already signed contracts to play overseas during the NBA lockout,
including Deron Williams and Sasha Vujacic. And that may just be the beginning. Many NBA players
are thinking about playing overseas during the lockout. Making money and staying in shape? Makes
sense to me.
Michael Beasley is one of the most emotionally unstable players in the NBA. So when he decided
to play some streetball in NYC, that quickly became a bad idea. Fans, knowing Michael Beasley has a
few screws loose, heckled him all night. Eventually, Michael Beasley went Michael Beasley and
punched a fan in the face.
