FC Boro 13 November @ 09:55 AM EST
It's back to league action this weekend as Gateshead make the long journey south to play
Stevenage in a fixture which was last played in 1998 with the 'Tynesiders' winning the game 2-1
at the International Stadium. Boro though won the reverse fixture earlier that season 6-1, so I
doubt the Gateshead fans have that fond of memories of Hertfordshire.

Stevenage have ended their interest in Michael Brough, for now. Graham Westley told the Comet
that the two clubs have failed to agree a new loan deal and that any deal is a long way off.
Westley stated that he wanted to keep the multi-functional player, but with the clubs not being
able to agree a deal, the Boro boss may have to look elsewhere for enforcements to his squad.

Stevenage will get home this evening and wonder how they didn't end up taking all 3 points after
a dominant second half performance. Although Kettering had a couple of opportunities in added
time, the second half was mostly at the other end as a host of Boro players missed chances to give
the Hertfordshire side the victory.

Boro face arguably their biggest game of the season against 3rd place Kettering Town at
Rockingham Road this weekend. Graham Westley's side, who currently sit 2nd, are six points behind
table toppers Oxford United while Kettering are a point further back of Boro, but have a game in
hand. 3 points in Northamptonshire would give Boro a bit of breathing space as they challenge for
top spot.

Crawley are the latest club to introduce 'variable' admission prices after Kettering and
Stevenage's new price initiatives' in the last 12 months. Crawley have 'banded' their games so that
games against teams like Histon and Salisbury will be a lower price than 'premium' games against
the likes of Cambridge and ourselves.

Oxford United stay top of the Blue Square Premier after beating Boro this afternoon. Goals from
Alfie Potter and Adam Murray were enough to give the U's victory although one of their former
strikers, Yemi Odubade hit back late on, but it was too little too late for Graham Westley's
side.
Westley dropped Lee Boylan in favour of a 5 man midfield which welcomed back Joel Byrom after an
impressive substitute appearance against Ebbsfleet on Tuesday night.

Peter Vincenti has left the club to join Woking. The Cards have confirmed that the Jersey
born midfielder/striker will join the Blue Square South club on a three month loan deal. It makes
sense for all parties involved really. Although Westley gave Vincenti a new contract at the
beginning of the summer, the former Millwall player doesn't look likely to be in the first team
plans at Broadhall Way.

Pre-Season starts in just 3 days time as Boro travel to Chemsford on Wednesday night. It's a
less high profile start to pre-season after last years visit to Gillingham. The Stevenage players
and staff have been back in training for about 2 weeks now and should be at a good fitness level
going into the first game.

There isn't much to talk about at the minute at Broadhall Way. Work is going on behind the
scenes to get the players fit and ready for the big kick-off on August 8th, but other than that
there is nothing to report on. That's not the case elsewhere in the Blue Square Premier.
Rushden face an uncertain future after receiving a winding up order.

With pre-season officially just days away the excitement is building in preparation for the new
season. The Blue Square Premier fixtures will be released at the back end of next week and by then
Graham Westley's squad will have already been through a couple of tough days of fitness
training.

Stevenage manager Graham Westley has added Chris Beardsley to his striking options for next
season with the former Kettering, Rushden and Mansfield forward joining the club on a one year
deal. It follows the club's decision to release Callum Willock last week after 18 months at
Broadhall Way.

Gary Mills has left Stevenage Borough this afternoon, joining Blue Square Premier rivals
Mansfield Town on a two year contract. It's a move that I'm surprised has happened, but at the same
time am not disappointed. The defensive midfielder was one of Graham Westley's first signings last
summer when he rejected a new contract at Kettering to move to Broadhall Way.

Boro's strikeforce looks even healthier now after Graham Westley added Yemi Odubade to his list
of strikers as he aims to replace Steve Morison for next season. Earlier in the week, Westley
brought in Charlie Griffin from Salisbury on a free transfer after his contract had expired and has
been quick again to move for the pacy Odubade.

Roy Hodgson didn't get where he is today by not being able to coach a team to defend a long
throw in. Rory Delap hurlded them in, Brede Hangeland headed them out.  We had more trouble
from Exodus Geohagan of Kettering.
It was perhaps the worst winning performance of the season. Stoke deserve some credit here for
getting amongst our players and making life difficult, but we were far the better team and would
have won by more than we did if only we could have shown some invention in the final third.

It wasn't the greatest of performances at Broadhall Way, but Graham Westley's Stevenage side dug

With Manchester United and Aston Villa joining most of the other Premier League clubs in the fourth

Merseyside derby. Everton will be making the short trip to Anfield in the fourth round to take on
cross-town rivals Liverpool.

I can't tell you how disappointed I am that our local team, Forest Green Rovers, were beaten by a
late Derby penalty in the 3rd round of the FA Cup this afternoon.
They had already made history by getting the furthest ever in the tournament during their 118 year
existence. When they went 2 0 up after just over 20 minutes it looked as if the impossible might
happen.
