These wins aren't to be underestimated. Stoke are a handful and we rarely thrive against them,
but today, despite withstanding a lot of second half pressure, Fulham stood firm and deserved their
points.
New players are traditionally given a time to adjust when signing for a new club, but today
Pavel Pogrebnyak was thrown straight into the deep end.
Fantastic result for Stoke City last night as a Kenwyne Jones' header ensured Stoke drew with
Dynamo Kiev and progressed to the next stage of the Europa League for the first time in their
history. If Stoke get a point at Besiktas in their last game they will finish atop their group.
"It's a great achievement to qualify from a group that I felt was the toughest of the 12 out
there" said Tony Pulis.

Yesterday we broke down Liverpool's winning goal, and while the focus may have been on Glen
Johnson's run from deep and his fantastic finishing of it, the team effort involved in the buildup
was plain to see. It might be fair to say that most goals, if you dig deep enough, are team
efforts, though often that effort can either be fairly self-evident or, conversely, hopelessly
muddied.

The Liverpool team saw a lot of changes from the eleven that started against Norwich but the likes
of Reina, Carragher and Suarez still made the start.

'Twas a damn fine effort Sir!
A second-half double from a fizzing Luis Suarez was enough to see Liverpool into the
quarter-finals of the Carling Cup at the Britannia last night, after Kenwyne Jones had put Stoke
one up a minute before half-time with a neat near-post diving header.
A second-half brace from Luis Suarez sent Liverpool through to the quarter-finals of the Carling
Cup with a 2-1 win over Stoke.
Both managers named strong teams, and a crowd of just short of 25,000 at the Britannia Stadium were
rewarded with a first half full of chances that ended with Kenwyne Jones heading in the opening
goal after Jon Walters had robbed Sebastian Coates.
Stoke boss Tony Pulis bemoaned decisions which went against his side after the Potters lost to
Liverpool in the Carling Cup.
Jamie Carragher was booked after a challenge on Matthew Etherington on 21 minutes before Jon
Walters had the ball in the net with a header from a Rory Delap throw-in but Ryan Shawcross was
adjudged to have impeded Jose Reina and the goal did not count.
Stoke City 1 Jones 44′Liverpool 2 Suarez 54′ 85′
After the first half it seemed as though it was going to be the same old story for Liverpool:
Possession, passing, at times slick play, and an inability to finish. Throw in a Kenwyne Jones goal
a minute before the break after sloppy defending led to Stoke's first and only chance of the half,
a hostile venue, and another referee who seemed determined not to call anything on Luis Suarez, and
it had the makings of a hugely frustrating day for the visitors.
Liverpool progress into the Carlin Cup Quarter Finals after Luis Suarez scored 2 goals in a come
from behind win.
Kenwyne Jones put Stoke ahead in the 43th minute with a great header.
Luis Suarez then went on to win the game scoring in the 53rd and 85th minute. His first goal was
some thing special and can be seen in the video bellow.
Liverpool are through to the League Cup Quarter-Finals after beating Stoke 2-1 at the Britannia
Stadium.
Kenny Dalglish has Luiz Suarez to thank after his side went in one-nil down at half time due to a
Kenwyne Jones headed goal on 44 mins.
This was despite Liverpool having shots saved by Sorensen from Andy Carroll, Martin Kelly and
Suarez who was a problem for Stoke all evening.

the last eight of the Carling Cup. Stoke striker Kenwyne Jones opened the scoring shortly before
the interval.

Match Preview: Stoke City vs Liverpool
Liverpool take the latest step in their Carling Cup campaign tonight when they face the tough
challenge of defeating Stoke at the Britannia Stadium. Having already faced two away trips in the
competition, first against Exeter, then Brighton, the Reds make the much shorter journey to Stoke
in hope of their first win on the Potters' territory since they were promoted to the Premier
League.

Clive Brunskill/Getty Images (Bleacher Report) Rory Delap has been a thorn in the side of multiple
EPL clubs over the past seasons. It is well documented how much Arsene Wenger despises the player's
long throw ability.
However, Liverpool have the fortunate advantage of making a trip to the Britannia Stadium this
weekend without having to come up against the Potters' not-so-secret weapon.
Michael Regan/Getty Images(Bleacher Report) Liverpool new boy Stewart Downing has been quoted
recently by the Daily Mirror as having tipped his new club for a strong top four push as the Reds
aim to return to UEFA Champions League football next season.
The £20 million wide man has so far enjoyed a great start with the club as they sit in third place
on seven points after the first month of action in the Barclays Premier League.
This season has started ridiculously well and you start to wonder whether it's too good to be
true. Five wins in five, despite being presented with a tricky start fixture wise, is a great
achievement for the team.
After the standard of our football getting increasingly worse over the past couple of seasons,
dragging ourselves through away games and putting ourselves in difficult situations on the road,
we're blowing teams away this season.

Despite spending a fair amount of money on his Sunderland team, Steve Bruce has endured a rather
rubbish start to the season. However, at home to Stoke on Sunday, the Black Cats finally marked
their territory by weeing all over the Potters.
Not famed for his goalscoring ability, Titus Bramble opened the scoring while summer signings
Craig Gardner and Seb Larsson also helped to give the Black Cats their first win of the new
season.
Match Preview: Stoke vs Liverpool
After the drudgery of the international break, the Premier League returns this weekend and
Liverpool face a tough test of their new side with a trip to Stoke. Having taken 7 points from
their first 3 games, the new-look Reds have turned heads already this season, and a win at the
Britannia Stadium would only reinforce their return as a team to be reckoned with.
Keon Daniel's 20th minute goal helped Trinidad and Tobago beat Barbados in the second round of
2014 World Cup qualifying. Daniel made his first start for the country in qualifying, after
impressing in 54 minutes of Trinidad's 1-0 win over Bermuda last week.
Playing all 90 minutes, Daniel was a thorn in Barbados' side all game, pumping threatening
corners into the box and on multiple occasions nearly combining with star striker Kenwyne Jones
around the 18.
Trinidad and Tobago plays Barbados today at 4 pm and Keon Daniel may make his first start for
the country as a member of the Philadelphia Union.
Daniel and Trinidad pulled out a close 1-0 win over Bermuda on a Kenwyne Jones goal in the 44th
minute. Tobago was expected to pull well away from Barbados, but those expectations were not
met.
Stoke City F.C. are leaving no stone unturned in their meticulous preparations for the club's
first European campaign in 37 years. With work afoot to build a squad that can cope with the
rigours of playing twice a week, they have also embarked on the gargantuan task of making thousands
upon thousands of sandwiches.
Turns out we're trying to get Cameron Jerome, again. At first glance, I don't see why we'd spend
over 3 million on a striker that scored 3 goals last year. Yet, when looking at it further,
Birmingham couldn't score (something Aston Villa is currently experiencing; thank you Alex
McLeish!), and we're in dire need of a striker.

Manchester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers maintained their perfect starts to the season while
Stoke City could only manage a draw against Norwich City.
Roberto Mancini's side took the lead after 26 minutes away to Bolton thanx to David Silva's fine
shot from outside the penalty box.
Goals from David Silva, Gareth Barry, and Edin Dzeko ensured that Manchester City defeat a
resilient Bolton side 3-2 to head to the top of the Barclays Premier League.
Entering Sunday's much-awaited clash, both teams were thriving on dream starts to their season
as the Trotters battered Queens Park Rangers 4-0 and Roberto Mancini's men won by the same exact
score against Swansea in the opening round of fixtures.
Welcome to the Premier League, AVB.
Is this seat taken?
First: That shot from Mikel. Brilliant. I told you, the man is going to score this season.
Now as Jack said, a draw away at Stoke isn't exactly a bad result. Especially as we seemed to
start a bit slow and Kenwyne Jones was winning headers all over the place against our defenders as
Stoke lumped the ball forward.
The season is here, my friends. Mount up.

It was only three years ago that Stoke City got promoted to the Premier League and everyone
expected them to immediately get relegated. Instead they finished 12th in their first season in the
Premier League and have not looked back.
Stoke have always been strong defensively and last season Tony Pulis focused on scoring more
goals, breaking the Stoke transfer record to sign Kenwyne Jones from Sunderland for £8
million.

following summer suggested Guzan was someone worth getting to know.

For Sheikh Mansour, the oil rich owner of Manchester City, a victory over Stoke in the FA Cup
final tomorrow would represent the completion of the first stage of his long-term plan, having only
owned the club for less than three years. City fans already have Champions League football to look
forward to next season, an astounding feat in itself given the fact that they were lost in
mid-table obscurity just a few seasons ago.

Last year, there were only two players (Drogba and Valencia) in the PFA Premier League team of
the year that were not of European origin, which prompted me to create a Non-European Best XI. This
year, the list only contains one player from outside of Europe, Señor Carlos Tevez.
Starting off, a half-hearted nod of the head to Man United and an outstretched hand from me in
spite of obvious danger to my personal hygiene. Winners of any football competition deserve the
victory in the end, the League more so than most, and United were the least bad team this season.
