University of Denver senior midfielders Mariah Johnston and Kelli Breidenbach combined for the only goal as the Pioneers shut out North Texas 1-0 on Saturday afternoon at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium.

In the 20th minute, Johnston dribbled from the right side of the field and fed Breidenbach inside the box for a one-timer from eight yards.

The University of Denver women's soccer team ended its season with a 4-0 loss to No. 2 Portland in the opening round of the NCAA tournament Friday night at Merlo Field in Portland, Ore.

Portland (19-1-0) tallied its first goal off a corner kick in the 25th minute as Danielle Foxhoven's kick landed at the foot of Sophie Schmidt.
