strong>There aren't many more popular former Newcastle players of recent time, in the minds of
my generation, than John Beresford. Johnny '(oooohh Johnny, Johnny)' Beresford was a major part of
the squad that Keegan assembled to put us back on the map in the '90s. He's been speaking to Lee

If the latest report from Lee Ryder in the Chronicle is anything to fo by, Newcastle United manager
Chris Hughton won't be getting much cash to spend in the January transfer window. Following
Keegan's tribunal and the £2m it awarded him, it was speculated that Ashley would give Hughton
some of the £8m he had set [.

So far the Premiership old boys are showing their class, occupying the top 3 places.
After paying out £2 million compensation to Keegan Newcastle failed to score for the first time
this season against Bristol City. Fans can only hope that any takeover, made more likely by the
compensation pay out, causes minimum disruption.

We did warn over the weekend there would be many stories on the Newcastle takeover after Keegan's
case against the Tyneside club was settled by the Premier League Tribunal. And it's the Daily
Mirror and Simon Bird, that's reporting this morning that City sources have confirmed that a new
South African bidder for the club has [.

Ever since Mike Ashley first put Newcastle United up for sale there have been rumours of various

I must admit when I first read the Keegangate tribunal report I was staggered that Keegan had

Thanks to Startdust for posting the breaking news about Keegan winning his constructive dismissal
case against Newcastle United. However, I just thought I'd try to distil it into something more
manageable and article-shaped. In the simplest terms Keegan was constructively dismissed and has
been awarded £2m as a result.

When Keegan left Newcastle back in September, it was expected the club would have to make a
pay-out of around the £9m mark, hard enough to take. However, this morning The Daily Star are
reporting that Keegan's lawyers are claiming for loss of potential future earnings, claiming the
whole episode has damaged his future employment prospects.

amount of beds that await the world's football fans there. Forget about Fabio Capello and his

Even forget about the next European Championships in Ukraine/Poland, that's if they can make it

If the title race is decided by individual brilliance, Rafa Benitez has no doubt that Liverpool's
two-decade wait for the championship will end next May.
It has taken the Spaniard five seasons to construct a squad capable of slugging it out with
Manchester United and Chelsea at the top of the Premier League for the whole nine months.

Four weeks ago, I was playing Football Manager. I was managing Manchester United and was faced
with the dilemma of how to replace Tevez and Ronaldo. With 80 million quid in the bank, money
wasn't an issue; however the question of bringing in the "right" player involves more than just
money.
Browsing through my shortlist, the expected names appeared: Benzema, Ribery and Ibrahimovic.

I guess it's to be expected as the league gets bigger and bigger, but this year's rookie class is
on pace to equal or break a record. What is it? The most rookies who started at least half of the
regular season games. The record is 10, and already 9 rookies this season are virtually certain to
hit that mark (15 starts):
- Darrius Barnes (NE)
- Matt Besler (KC)
- Sam Cronin (TOR)
- Stefan Frei (TOR)
- Omar Gonzalez (LA)
- Jeremy Hall (LA)
- Chris Pontius (DC)
- Rodney Wallace (DC)
- Steve Zakuani (SEA)
Breaking the record is going to be hard, as some less hyped players will have to lock down a
starting role.

So tonight Toronto FC have to do something they've only managed to do once in their franchise
history: score four unanswered goals in one game.
I was there when it last happened, an MLS fixture against FC Dallas back in TFC's inaugural season.
It was a great day out; Edu scored a garbage goal, Dichio scored on a great header right as his
name was being chanted by the South Stand, hell, Cunningham scored TFC's fourth.

Newcastle players over the last 30 years have been renowned to have rubbish haircuts, really
starting with Kevin Keegans Perm and Terry McDermotts... well...."mop". Since then they have had
some terrible barnets. Andy Carroll and Fabricio Coloccini are the most recent victims of having
rubbish haircuts but also I need to mention Barry Venisons mullet, Darren Peacocks pony tail and
Joey Bartons prison look.
