I had to keep this secret until now but I was invited to do something that I thought was really
cool. John Kristick from the USA Bid Committee visited Kansas City last week and I was asked to go
along to document the day in photos. I did so and along the way got a glimpse into the plans behind
the very real possibility that Kansas City could be hosting the World Cup in 2018 (or 2022).

From the KC Star comes word of new discussions regarding the location of a KC Wizards soccer
specific stadium
The Kansas Speedway area has emerged as the new choice for a long-sought Wizards soccer stadium
in a sweeping proposal that would include at least 4,000 new Cerner Corp. jobs.
The developer working for OnGoal LLC, the owner of the Kansas City Wizards, has prepared a
stadium plan for a site owned by Nebraska Furniture Mart.

Well it seems the Three Trail Project is either dead or very close. Kansas City Kansas is quickly
moving to make the Wizards Stadium a reality out at the Legends at Village West. An open space in
between Nebraska Furniture Mart and the Kansas Speedway is being targeted to build the Wizards new
home. It is very close to Community America Ballpark where the Wizards have been playing since last

Wizards at DC United on Metro Sports - The Wizards need to win (or at least tie) to maintain their
slim playoff hopes. Kansas City is 9 points back from DC but they have two games in hand so a win
would pull the Wizards into striking distance.USA vs. Trinidad & Tobago on ESPN Classic - The US
Men should win but they need to make sure they do tonight.

The Wizards lost the Open Cup game with Seattle Tuesday night. You can read Mike's write up or
Hillcrest Road's post for some details. The key play that night was a PK awarded to Seattle for
Kevin Hartman tripping Montero in the box. Since there was not a lot of video there (why?) we only
have 1 or 2 angles to review the play.

There was a new face with the Wizards in practice today. I believe they are working on signing him
and I think we will hear something soon (the next 48 hours). My understanding is he is European and
a striker.(Yes I do know his name but I was asked to not reveal it yet)I will add a photo a little
later today.

Another disappointing game. The game started off fairly even with the Crew maybe getting a little
better of play but the Wizards had their chances.Herculez Gomez attempts to get off a shot...Then
in the 14th minute Holhbein, Conrad and Hartman collide. It sounded like Kevin called off his
defenders but they did not hear him.

detail but I wanted to post a couple observations and a few photos... I am not sure who the keeper
was for the Brass in the first half but he did a good job. Yeah he gave up a goal but he was facing
the Wizards first team (minus Wolff and Hirsig).

Disappointing. The Good:It was a win, 3 points is always good...A good crowd on a weeknight, the
Wizards' staff did a great job to get people there...B-2 flyover, Little Jimmy bobble head dolls,

contests and beautiful weather all added up to great off the field activities.

best to block McBride's shot. Unfortunately it angled past Hartman.McBride shows why he is one of

Having watched several practices so far this year, I try to compare this years Wizards to last
years team. It is hard to do since this team is so different.A smaller roster means a smaller
number of players, trades, less first year guys, lots of young players from last year are now vets
all add up to a much changed team from the beginning of last year.

Kudos to the Wizards in general and our friends at Hillcrest Road blog specifically. Yes it is the
official blog of the Wizards and it their job to do a good blog, but I still have to say well done.

The 2009 MLS draft is coming up soon. Mock drafts are starting to appear. Ives is on his 3rd
iteration now. Mock draft 3.0, Mock draft 2.0 and Mock draft 1.0. So far he has the Wizards taking
a midfielder in each version. Either Michael Stephens from UCLA or Baggio Husidic from
Illinois-Chicago. Both of them are supposed to be creative skilled attacking mid type player.

From observation and a few questions, it looks like the lineup will be the same at New England. Abe
Thompson is the possible exception to that. He did not train all week until Thursday. My guess is
that he will be a go but Ivan will be ready to come in. Josh will still not be available. Wizards
are in the playoff already so this game will mostly determine who Kansas City plays.
