Salvadoran national team player Mauricio Cienfuegos.
It was a great experience to be next to the MLS Cup and to be able to pose with it in pictures
before it headed West to L.
It was a sunny Wednesday afternoon in Ft. Lauderdale Florida when the New York Redbulls played
against the Chicago Fire. Everyone who is anyone in the soccer world was there, but due to
mis-communication between the Red Bulls front office and Lockhart personnel, some of them had just
a little trouble getting in the door.
I was listening to the EPLTalk Podcast Weekend Review this morning on the way to work (and it
probably isn't said enough, thank you to Richard, Laurence, Kartik, and the Gaffer for this
valuable resource!). Richard and Kartik discussed an impact game this weekend in the nPower
Championship between Queens Park Rangers and Cardiff City, which was taken by QPR 2-1.

On a historic weekend of football in the English Premier League – one that saw a record number
of Saturday goals, Manchester United's first loss of the season, and a memorable capitulation from
Arsenal – the story was Kenny Dalglish; or, the story was Carlo Ancelotti, depending on how you
want to look at Sunday's match at Stamford Bridge, a 1-0 win by Liverpool in Fernando Torres's
Blues debut.
For many of you, it's Super Bowl Sunday, so we're moving the show up one hour giving you a
slightly larger gap between show and Bowl. For myself, Laurence McKenna and Kartik Krishnaiyer, it
was Chelsea-Liverpool Sunday, with Kenny Dalglish leading the Reds to a potentially season-defining
win at Stamford Bridge.
Manchester United's kept their spot at the top of the league, no matter how many times Gary
Neville tried to give it away. Macnehster City's even on points after their win over Blackpool,
while Arsenal was convincing at a St. Andrews' Stadium that's often inhospitable to visitors.
On this edition of the EPL Talk podcast, myself, Laurence McKenna and Jesse Chula (filling in
for the infirm Kartik Krishnaiyer) and talk about the weekend that was in our favorite football
league.
The holiday season is supposed to be a time to come together with friends and family, but by the
time Boxing Day comes around, all we want is out football, something not even inclement weather in
Blackburn and Liverpool could keep from us. Seven matches kicked-off and completed this Boxing Day,
giving myself, Laurence McKenna, Kartik Krishnaiyer and yourselves more than enough for our weekly
ritual: The EPL Talk Weekend Review show.
With a break in Premier League action, it's perfect timing to bring you up to speed on several

1. Regular features.
You may have noticed that we've added several regular columns and live blogs/chats to the site
throughout the week.
Though the caveat see Manchester United with a game in hand, Arsenal is now on top of the
Premier League, and there's only one person to thank for it. It was another breakthrough
performance for Samir Nasri, who led the Gunners to a 2-1 win over Fulham and the top spot in the
English Premier League.
On this edition of the EPL Talk Podcast, I am joined by Kartik Krishnaiyer and Laurence McKenna

sustainable run of form. With London reemerging in the league...
An audience of EPL Talk listeners got to hear the audio output from Richard's laptop degrade
then fail in the middle of a live show. This week? Richard and Kartik try to top it. "Unplanned"
power outages? Glasses of water knocked onto mixers? Or maybe just an unknown hot mic picking up
"not for air" gossip?
With the transfer deadline day finished, Kartik and Laurence dissect all of the major moves made
during the August transfer window. The duo look at buys made by specific teams such as QPR and
Manchester United, as well as which clubs made the panic...
Inspired by the recent attempts by others to map which soccer teams people in London support as
well as which teams people in Wales support, I wondered what a map of the United States would like
broken down by which European teams residents support.
The more I thought about it, the more I realized that it's almost impossible.
