CONCACAF Allowing US To Increase Gold Cup Roster

What a difference a week makes for the US national team. First they had a nice result in the Confederations Cup over in South Africa and due to their participation in that tournament CONCACAF is allowing Bob Bradley to increase his roster size for the Gold Cup from 23 to 30.

Here is the initial 23-man USA roster:

  • GOALKEEPERS- Jon Busch (Chicago Fire), Troy Perkins (Valarenga), Luis Robles (FC Kaiserslautern)
  • DEFENDERS- Steve Cherundolo (Hannover 96), Jimmy Conrad (Kansas City Wizards), Clarence Goodson (IK Start), Jay Heaps (New England Revolution), Chad Marshall (Columbus Crew), Michael Parkhurst (FC Nordsjaellands), Heath Pearce (Hansa Rostock)

USA Gold Cup roster extended to 30

As reported on Goal.com, the USMNT have been granted seven extra spots on their Gold Cup roster due to their recent participation in the Confederations Cup. The US will still be limited to 18 men on game day. Based on the players already selected, here the group we believe will fill out the 30-man roster:

Robbie Findley

Jesse Marsch

Kamani Hill

Carey Talley

Sasha Victorine

Ante Razov

Ross Paule

I have a good many things to discuss about this game, more than I expected considering how unenthused I am about the result and how tired I am today.
First, Gooch had one of his best MNT performances in a long time. Gooch really contained Zlatan to the best of his ability. This means Zlatan still had two or three quality chances early on which could have resulted in just as many goals, but considering that Gooch is still plying his trade in Belgium with Standard Liege, I'll give him an A for effort/C+ for achievement.
