As previously mentioned, Wayne Rooney's son Kai Wayne Rooney was born yesterday. Wayne
skipped out on Manchester United's training session to be at the hospital for the birth and was
expecting a boy, but was that all? The following is a transcript of Wayne's conversation with the
doctor immediately after Kai's birth.

Well, English football's golden child has arrived and bets are already being taken on whether
newborn Kai will eventually live up to his father's high standard as a professional footballer (you
know, as the children of the incredibly talented and famous always do).
The bookies at Ladbrokes have set the odds on mini-Roo breaking into Manchester United's first
team at 33-1.

Sky Blue FC finished off their dramatic run through the Women's Professional Soccer playoffs on
Saturday, beating the Los Angeles Sol 1-0 at the Home Depot Center to win the first WPS
Championship. Heather O'Reilly was named the game's Most Valuable Player for scoring in the 16th
minute. "Natasha Kai is pretty well known for headers in the box so I was kind of hanging back
post," O'Reilly said.

It's a well-deserved lead for the underdogs against a flat Sol. Coach Abner Rogers removed
midfielder McCall Zerboni for defender Sharolta Nonen after the straight red, but the Sol will need
to do more than that to come from behind. Which team had the most rest coming into this game
anyway?

A straight red for Sol defender Allison Falk in the 27th minute after she clipped an on-rushing

A poor decision by referee Kari Seitz in a championship game this early that changes the
complexion of the match; no way did that look deliberate. It was just a clumsy, almost accidental
touch.

showed a tendency to get physical, and they saved
Natasha Kai for the second half
because she had been traveling with the national team.

Last Saturday was a historic day. It was the date of the first ever WPS Playoff Game. It was
also the first WPSÂ game I ever watched with my wife. She is not a huge soccer fan, but we were
killing time in a hotel room before meeting friends, and I got her to watch the 2nd half. Now she

So this past week had a load of quality goals. I mean a load that were just great from top to
bottom. A couple could really be classed as goal of the year quality too (Landon Donvoan's comes to
mind). While I am sorting out the issues with the post I had for the weekend recap, here are the
week's best goals to get us started this week.

I've been reading what I can find about the coaching mess at Sky Blue FC ... and finding little
of actual substance on the subject. Overall, the management does itself no favors by dissing
Kelly Lindsey in their public comments. They come off looking very small, indeed. Yet, at the
same time, her behavior (abruptly quitting her job with only a couple of games left in the season)
is puzzling and awfully dramatic and abrupt.

You dont know me from adam. I am just another one of those nameless pundant/fans that used to

see.

When one of your favorite and most important players is continually linked with another club,
all you want them to do is come out and pledge their allegiance to the team and supporters.
Unfortunately, sometimes that player really does want to go elsewhere and even though they've tried
to keep it hush hush for fear of a backlash from the fans or the club that they are currently with,
it gradually sort of just comes out.

Week 18 in Major League Soccer has already gotten off to a bang. Last night's 3-1 thrashing in
Giant's Stadium by LA over New York probably set the tone for what this weekend should be like.
The tone was set early and often by LA with Landon Donovan really showing just how good he can
be for LA and for MLS.
