Did we say Leo Messi is the best footballer in the world? Maybe we did. But did we also mention
he had the fitness and strength of Hercules and the will of Bismarck.
Check out that third goal created and finished by Messi. Tell us in the 88th minute of a match,
ANY match, if an ordinary mortal would have the legs and the passion to get to that ball from Dani
Alves as displayed by Messi and we'll show you how to transform Katy Perry into a real
chanteuse.
Portugal advanced to the semifinals with a narrow but solid 1-0 victory over the Czech Republic.
While the Czechs are out of Euro 2012, it is still considered a successful tournament as there
weren't high expectations.
It was a bit of a slow start for both sides with the Czech Republic staying organized to contain
the Portugal attack.
In the first of 4 Quarter Finals set to take place over the next few days Portugal find
themselves facing a Czech Republic side who are probably still grateful to have progressed past the
group stage after some hairy moments involving Poland, Russia and Greece. The Czech side have
leaked some pretty awful goals at times, with the normally ever-reliable and occasionally
unbeatable Petr Cech looking a different keeper when compared to his brilliant performances in a
Chelsea shirt last season.
According to my high-ranking Czech source Mirka (bird of my mate Matt), coach Michal Bilek is
getting a bit of slating on the forums but he's still managed to do the business and drag them into
the quarters. It didn't look to cosy for them when they where pretty much caned by the classy
Russians who I had down as semi material after I watched the highlights.
Petr Jiracek's 72nd minute winner leaves Poland as hosts uninvited to their own party. Who are
they going to support now? An educated guess will be Germany with a number of players of Polish
origin including Lukas Podolski and Miroslav Klose.
It all happened when Tomas Hubschmann robbed the ball from the Poles well beyond midfield before
sending Milan Baros showing the legs of a 22 year old racing ahead.
With co-hosts Poland 1-0 down and pushing for an equalizer to rob the Czech Republic of a place
in the quarters in the dying seconds of the game, Kuba Blaszczykowski pinged a shot past Petr Cech
that appeared to be heading in at the the far post only for Czech left-back Michal Kadlec to arch
his spine and pull off a heroic 'swan dive' goal-line clearance to keep his country at Euro 2012
with pretty much the last touch of the game.
The Czech Republic scored a second half goal to win Group A and knock out co-host Poland. After
losing their opening match to Russia, the Czech Republic won their final two matches and only
conceded one goal.
Neither side looked great in the match which saw Poland start out well but fade in the second
half.

Full-time: A richly entertaining game ruined only by the wonky shooting of
Kerzakhov. Russian were brilliant with the ball, yet strangely prone to lapses of interest, which
could cost them against better opposition.
If you, like us, are planning to have a stab at a Fantasy Football game o'er the course of Euro
2012, feel free to have a butcher's at our tips for a winning XI (price permitting of
course!)...
Goalkeeper
Manuel Neuer (Germany): Likely to be slightly cheaper than Casillas, Buffon et
al despite being just as reliable.
A little over a week separates Italy from the start of their Euro 2012 campaign, and it appears
the Azzurri have a lot to work on before then.
Italy suffered a surprising 3-0 defeat to Russia in Zurich, Switzerland on Friday in a friendly
that extended the Italians' scoreless streak to 300 minutes.
OTP gives you the lowdown on all the Euro 2012 teams. 10 word description: Not quite the same force
but still a decent side. Coach: Michel Bilek Not to be confused with his near-namesake German
midfielder, Bilek has been managing for just over a decade after a playing career that included
spells with Real Betis [.
When the Czech Republic first take to the field against Russia, on 8 June, many of their fans may
be worrying just where their goals are going to come from. Michal Bilek's side only found the net
on 12 occasions, despite conceding just eight in a successful qualifying campaign.
The concern can be found in a lack of a reliable goal scorer.

Except for the teeny tiny detail that these gentleman are making massive wages and playing in
the Champions League knockout for a reputable club from one of the world's biggest leagues.
Bayer teammates Michael Kadlec and Manuel Friedrich fought over Lionel Messi's match shirt in
the tunnel at halftime of their Champions League bend on Tuesday.
We're at the business end of the Champions League now, Kickettes. For some, this is an
opportunity to continue what looks to be an irresistible march towards Munich, while for others
(namely a certain North London outfit), it was a brutal exposure of the frailties they've been
struggling to overcome all season.
No need to get shirty Bayer Leverkusen sports director Rudi Voller has vowed that two Lionel Messi
shirts acquired during his side's Tuesday night defeat to Barcelona will both be auctioned for
charity after his players fought over one of them at half-time. Defenders Michal Kadlec and Manuel
Friedrich battled to get Messi's shirt as [.
It's a "pazzo" day of celebration for Milan, after their 4-0 thrashing
of Arsenal in the Champions League last night! Milan simply dominated all 90 minutes of last
night's match with a sleek passing game, although Arsenal surprisingly held the
53% share of ball possession.
Huge 3-1 win against Bayer Leverkusen in Germany last night by Barcelona. We all knew the stats
going in: Barca had failed to win a round of 16 away match since Pep took over. The teams abysmal
away form this year. And the injuries. The combination of those three had many fans wary of last
night's game.
Barcelona's march to a potential third UEFA Champions League title in four years is in full
effect after a 3-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday.
The Catalan giants have all but conceded the La Liga crown to Real Madrid but are in good
position in the Champions League after the first leg of the Round of 16.
Jonas scored the second fastest goal in Champions League history and Valencia beat Bayer
Leverkusen 3-1 to pick up a crucial Group E victory Tuesday.
With just over ten seconds on the clock Jonas calmly capitalised on a terrible clearance from
Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno to give Valencia the dream start that they had been looking
for.
Michal Kadlec says he will wait until the summer before deciding his future after admitting it is
'super' to have been linked with Liverpool.
The Bayer Leverkusen left-back is rumoured to be a transfer target for Liverpool, who are short on
options in the position.
Kadlec has a further two years to run on his contract with Leverkusen and is not currently thinking
about an extension.

Liverpool's won a lot of two-legged ties with 0-0s away from home. Nonetheless, this was
emphatically boring, dour bordering on unwatchable for long stretches. While the result puts
Liverpool in a fine position for the second leg at Anfield and the side were missing a few crucial
players, it's still disappointing to see such a sub-par performance and ostensible lack of
ambition.
Liverpool head to the Czech Republic to face Sparta Prague.
And let's just get it out of the way "THIS IS SPARTA" is not an acceptable joke anymore.
Questionable whether it ever was. Fight the impulse. Okay, we know you did it anyway at some point.
Get over it.
European football returns for Liverpool after what seems like an eternity, and it's at a great
time.
If there's one thing FIFA doesn't like, it's healthy players skipping out on international
meetings. Well, FIFA doesn't like a lot of things, but that one's high on the list.
Sparta Prague had three players too ill or injured to make their international treks this week,
which would've gone completely unnoticed until they showed up on Zenit's website after partaking in
a club friendly, wearing different names on the back of their shirts.
