U.S. Men's National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann has called 23 players into training camp in Denver to prepare for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Costa Rica and Mexico. The U.S. will face Costa Rica at sold-out Dick's Sporting Goods Park on March 22 at 8 p.m. MT. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN, WatchESPN and UniMas.

A young U.S. Men's National Team controlled the majority of the match against Canada but couldn't find the back of the net in a scoreless drawTuesday evening at BBVA Compass Stadium in the first match of 2013.

The U.S., which is celebrating its 100-year anniversary, kicked off the Centennial campaign by extending its unbeaten streak against Canada to 16 games (8-0-8).

Let's be clear about something right away: the United States has absolutely nothing invested in this match against Canada. Competitively, it's a meaningless exercise. For a lot of these players, though, it's an opportunity to get into Jurgen Klinsmann's immediate consciousness, and maybe even play their way into his plans for the World Cup Qualifier against Honduras on February 6th.

We are now just a month away from the first U.S. Men's National Team training camp, meaning Jurgen Klinsmann has to start thinking about the players he plans on calling in to the camp leading into the crucial Feb. 6 Hex opener against Honduras.

Klinsmann pointed out that there should be a strong contingent of young players called into the camp, though he will also plan on bringing in players who are expected to play key roles in the Honduras qualifier.

The 2012 MLS season saw several players emerge from relative obscurity to take on important roles on top teams, and some others serve as rare bright spots for disappointing squads.

While some players made the jump from good to very good, like Chris Pontius and Graham Zusi, it was the players who made the jump from benchwarmer to standout that draw the most acclaim on the 2012 SBI MLS Most Improved Best XI.

Jurgen Klinsmann's latest United States roster eatures only one Seattle Sounders FC player. Eddie Johnson again gets the call to represent the nation. At this point it should be considered a certainty that he is on the squad. Johnson is third all-time with 10 career goals in qualifying.

The US roster has five players without World Cup Qualifying CAPS and sixteen with ten or less.

What else can you say about the upcoming weekend in Major League Soccer? It's damn full. Nine matches, eight of them on Saturday. Tons of interesting matchups across the board that should have everyone's attention.
